Problem Identification
In the Harvard Business Review Case Study, “Why Didn’t We Know?” Ralph Hasson describes circumstances where communication, listening, and the development of a sales team could have greatly circumvented a lawsuit against the Galvatrens Company. Three of the problem areas that affect this case are, ineffective communication skills, ineffective listening abilities, and the ineffective development of the sales team.
Ineffective Communication
Engleberg & Wynn identifies communication as an instrument used by members of a group to share information and opinions, make decisions, solve problems, and develop interpersonal relationships. (Engleberg & Wynn, 2013, p. 5). The managers and employees of Galvatrens lack these communication skills and have caused major issues throughout the organization. In this article, it shows Galvatrens lacking in effective communication between departments, employees and managers to be a major issue.
Ineffective Listening Abilities

My uncle was trying to get a hold of my mom and dad, when he finally called me to tell me that my grandpa, my dad’s father, had died that morning from having a heart attack in his car while he was at the farmer’s market. “What?” I questioned him, “What are you talking about, I just talked to him last week!” There was no time to think, I immediately started to cry, as if my whole world just came crashing down. I kept thinking to myself, how am I going to tell my dad that his father just died. Since my grandparents lived in Florida at the time, my family packed our bags and headed down there for the memorial service. Crying every night, I was confused, heartbroken, and mourning the loss of the first close family member that suddenly dies. When we arrived in Florida, my dad’s four brothers were there, along with his two sisters, and their children while we attended the funeral, supporting one another. Although my grandpa was cremated, all of his organs and skin were donated to help people in need or for research, as he had a skin disease. Why Should We Write

...Writing is an activity people take part in every day. It is a way to express the true side of yourself that others cannot see- a way to let out the feelings held inside. Those who cannot verbally express themselves may turn to writing. Many ways to do that would be writing a poem, letter, song lyric, or a poem. In my past writing experiences, I have learned to grow as a writer like a small seed grows into a beautiful flower. A test we call TCAP was my first writing test. It was a short essay that we had been given which was required to be five paragraphs long. The worst part was the surprise topic; they would not tell us until right before starting to write and then expected us to write a good paper over an unknown topic. It is like giving a little kid a new toy without instructions. I thought it was very silly at the time, but now I realize that it showed me how to think creatively on the spot. Writing is a creative, mentally collective process done by most every day. It is a way to express the feelings of those who participate in this activity. As a writer myself, I use this as an escape or vacation from the issues of reality. When beginning writing your ideas, you must prepare and arrange as if you were preparing for a trip. Decide what might be needed by making a list of the things that that would properly prepare, as well as any extra items that may be useful later on. The extras may be needed if anything goes wrong. There are benefits from GMOS but there are also consequences of the GMO’S. The only thing they tell you about the GMOS is the side effects that are not harmful to the body. They make the produce taste and look better than the organic foods that do not have the GMOS on it. The people deserve the right to know if the food is being genetically modified or not. The first thing I want to address is the benefits of the GMOS. The GMOS help farmers produce more product and they help kill the weeds that grow in the fields. I would like to address the most fundamental question surrounding video games. Why do we play video games? Because they are fun? In the book titled Glued to Games, coauthor Scott Rigby, explains how video games must satisfy at least one of the three core needs, or realms, in our lives: competence, autonomy, and relatedness (Ryan & Rigby, 2011). The first piece is competence; this is the feeling of achievement and mastery. The sense that you’re growing learning and progressing plays a huge role in the identification of this realm. ...Religion is a subject that both fascinates and intrigues me. Supposedly we are here in this life for a very short time, relatively speaking, from which our eternal destiny is determined. If such is the case, this issue then is the only matter of any real importance and that importance is of such magnitude that all else pales in comparison. Yet we are left without definitive, unambiguous instructions from God as to how to live this life to assure just what that destiny is. Now, I know, any Christian who reads this is jumping up and down to point out that the Bible is God’s word and is very clear on the subject. Yet the statement is preposterous when you recognize the amount of diversity within the religion. It seems rather obvious to me that if God had intended to give His “word” to man He would have made it clear and unambiguous and would have made it equally available to all mankind rather than to a select few with reliance on them to disperse it to the remaining majority, especially when the myriad of groups dispersing it cannot agree on what it says. It seems to me that this idea of evangelism or ‘spreading the word’ is in contradiction of the belief itself. It implies that the salvation of the lost is the responsibility of the saved to ‘let them know’. It seems to remove the responsibility of knowing God’s will from God and place it upon His chosen.
