Nothing

...misconception is the idea that translators and interpreters do the same thing. In fact, translation and interpretation are very different. Translation revolves around the written word: if you have a document such as an international contract, marketing brochure, book, manual, or survey that needs to be communicated in another language, you need a translator. Interpretation involves oral communication. If you have an investor visiting from Japan, a diplomat from Brazil, or a Korean immigrant in a court trial, you need an interpreter to interpret the spoken word. There are two types of interpretation: simultaneous and consecutive. Simultaneous interpreters anticipate what the speaker is going to say, and interpret at the same time as the speaker is speaking. Less taxing is consecutive interpretation, when an interpreter waits until the speaker has finished a sentence or phrase before conveying that message to the audience's target language. On the surface, the difference between interpreting and translation is the mode of expression. Interpreters deal with spoken language and translate orally, while translators deal with written text, transforming the source text into a comprehensible and equivalent target text. Both interpreting and translation presuppose a love of language and deep knowledge of more than one language. However, the differences in the training, skills, and talents needed for each job are vast. The key skill of a good translator is the ability to write......

...Children‟s Literature Translation (ChLT). Attempting an overview from the years when ChLT was much ignored in the academic and non-academic world to the years that attention is paid to ChLT as a scientific field in its own right, the present paper illustrates issues that have generated intense and ongoing discussions. Issues such as the missionary role of ChLT, the theoretical framework of ChLT, the translator‟s invisibility, low status, profile and royalties, translatability vs. untranslatability, ideology, censorship, manipulation, and ambivalence are visited in this paper. These issues have had a deep impact on key ChLT actors, processes, and products: the child-reader, the translator, the translated text, the translation process, the author, the publisher, etc. The present text is a modest attempt to join efforts with the international community of scholars, translators, authors, children readers, publishers and other parties with an interest in ChLT, so as for the field to be given its merit in Translation, Comparative, Literary and Interdisciplinary Studies and for the translator –who had for long been much invisible and undervalued –to gain the place s/he deserves in history and society. 1. Introductory note It is widely accepted that Children‟s Literature Translation (ChLT) is an area that is relatively novel within Translation Studies (TS) (O‟ Connel, 2005; Pinsent, 2006; Thomson-Wolgemuth, 2009; 2006; 1998; Lathey, 2010; 2006; etc.). Ethics

...You are asked to translate and certify a document which is written in more than one language. You are able to read all the languages but are only accredited in one language. What should you do? I would inform the client that even though I’m able to read all the languages in the document, I am accredited only for one language and therefore I am not able to undertake the assignment. As a translator keeping the client aware of the NAATI level is very important for the code of ethics of a translator. Even though I am able to read all languages on the document I am accredited only for one language. And the other languages are not in my competence. As it is stated on the code of ethics competence is one of the most important aspects for a translator. 105 words You are asked to translate an Academic record. When the client arrives to collect the translation, they try to get you to change the results, claiming the “B” should have been an “A”. They insist you change it. What should you do? Wireless Headset Translator

...Wireless headset translator Two sources that were used in order to come up with our new invention were the ITA database and UNWTO (world tourism organization network). Taking a look at these sources, we found that the rate of tourism increases each year. To take advantage of this growing market, we came up with a new invention, which allows consumers to use it if ever they cannot speak the language of the foreign country there currently in. These sources made us realize how much money goes into travelling each year. On average, people in today’s society speak up to five different languages and with hundreds of different languages in the world; we believe that this product will be beneficial. As seen in the sources presented every yearly quartile accretion at least 3% of tourists in Canada alone. Our idea starts off with an earpiece that has a microphone attached to it. Similar to a Bluetooth “office headset”, our product will have a slim, lightweight design which is portable and easy to carry with you. The way this product works is very simple and effective. When the consumer speaks his language that he is most confortable with into the microphone, the headset picks up the signal and translates it to the set language. The way you set your language is very simple. The technology used in this product is no different then the Bluetooth technology that one would use to connect his/her phone to the car. Bluetooth technology has become and common amongst drivers who...

...If you are considering starting a small business, you may be trying to sort out the different types of businesses and wondering which type is best for you. Each type is best for a specific purpose or situation, relating to taxes, liability, and your ability to control the profits and losses of the business. Sorting out the acronyms can be tricky, but this run-down will help. 1. Sole Proprietorships A sole proprietorship is a business operated by one individual; the business is considered part of the individual, not a separate entity. ...International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology (IJEAT) ISSN: 2249 – 8958, Volume-X, Issue-X Language Translator Ekta Ahuja, Karan Kashyap  degradation of translation output quality over a period of time. Abstract— The aim of this project is to find out the problem areas in the translation done by Bing, suggest a method to improve the language translation and build a translator that supports accurate English to Hindi translation. The English input can be of textual, voice or image form and the Hindi output will be in the textual format.. With our research we aim to suggest a way to improve the already available popular translation engines. For this purpose we have used the method of hybrid machine translation. Hybrid machine translation is a method of machine translation that is characterized by the use of multiple machine translation approaches within a single machine translation system. The motivation for developing hybrid machine translation systems stems from the failure of any single technique to achieve a satisfactory level of accuracy. B. Statistical Machine Translation Statistical Machine Translation systems make use of computer algorithms that find out many possible ways of connecting smaller pieces of text together, in order to produce a best translation. Statistical Machine translation basically translates words and phrases along with their statistical likelihood. These are learned automatically from previously......
