Music is one of the most important and powerful things in my life. My life would be totally empty without melodies. Listening to different tunes helps me to de-stress, relax and it can also help to motivate me in trying times. I love listening to music while on my way to university, as I feel it helps me to prepare for the day that waits. I think it is like the memoirs to my life as it has been there throughout everything with me.
When I was younger, I had the great love for musical as I have now. I always listened to whatever was playing on the radio or television. I had much of a care for musical compositions. There was sometimes a little bit of classical, rock, jazz, blues or pop music thrown in to the mix here and there, but that’s really all I liked back then. Whether I was in the car, the house, or anywhere else there was sure to be some The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, or the Rolling Stones constantly playing somewhere in the background.

At the time I didn’t care for those genres of music much, and now as I’m older, I still enjoy them as they allow me to reminisce on memories from times of my childhood. Once I hit my teenage years music became my life and gradually started to inhibit my soul.
I believe music has the ability to convey all sorts of emotion. Whether the emotion is joy and happiness or sadness and despair through rhythms, harmonies and the lyrics music shows it. The song “How Come, How Long” by Stevie Wonder is such an emotional and inspiring song that when I hear it, I always come close to tears, especially when I watch it being played live. The effect that music can have on our emotions is tremendous, as it can bring people to floods of tears or bursts of laughter.

The musical images that music and song are able to create are amazing. Music has the ability to transport me back in time just like a time machine. It lets me…...

...Music that changed my Life By Elizabeth Thrush Kaplan University 2012 The Art of Being Human As I was growing up as a child I really did not listen to music. The music that I do remember hearing was what my mom and step dad listen to and that was country. By hearing this music it made me feel that I was not alone and that other was going throw what I was going throw. A sad period in my life, I was put in a foster home and my step was a very bad man. When I left my mom was the worst day of my life until I heard a song by Dolly Parton, Coats of many Colors. The lyric of this song really has touched my life for a long time. Thinking of how my life is a reminder of this song. As a teenager, I listen to rock-n-roll. The hair band like gun-n-rose, Prison and Rat was the one that I listened to the most. I had to dress like them and have that funk like to myself, like the cloths and the big hair. I had no care in the world about my parents I was running wild and having funny. But by doing that I got in trouble a lot. It was a funny time and I love it. I was rebelling against my mom so bad. When a finish school I got pregnant with my son and trying to listen to the music I real like as a kid gave me a headache, so I start to listen to country. The Role of Music

...Unit 4 Project – Music Kaplan University HU300 – Art and Humanities: 20th Century and Beyond March 27, 2012 Limiting ourselves to one kind of music is as detrimental to our growth as if we were never to set foot outside our house and discover the unlimited life experiences waiting out there. (Janaro & Altshuler, 2009). For me music is the best creation humanity has made. It makes me cry if I am sad, dance if I am in a party, smile if it is romantic, sad if I am thinking in a bad love experience, and happy when I am home resting and listen to it. In my personal view, music is one of people’s spiritual nourishment. I listen to music every day and love to sing along to my favorite tunes. Music makes me feel good and can get my mind off things that are bothering me as well! Some music is relaxing while some really makes me more stressed. Music becomes my interest. I like this wisdom, "interest is the best teacher." As time goes by more and more music that I have been listening to, I can sing and understand the meaning of the song that really attracts me. While I am listening to the music, I slowly I begin to figure out my favorite idols and songs. If I listen to some really beautiful melody or rhythms that able to touch my heart, I will find the appropriate spare time to listen and learn how to sing until I have completely understood. My father’s favorite music was the Tango. Every day at five o’clock in the morning he used to turn the radio...

Music Is Life

...Music is an important part of life. It is a form of expression. It has no boundaries, and it follows no guidelines. Essentially, to me, music is like air. It has no true shape or definition, yet we need it to live. Imagine a world without music. All you’re left with is dust. Music is life itself. As a junior in high school, I’ve given considerable thought to my future. When I was younger, I saw myself as an architect or perhaps just simply an artist. When I grew to be a bit older, I saw myself in robotic science. Then, I was accepted into Milwaukee High School of the Arts. It was perhaps one of the best things to ever happen to me. When I first started, I had very little music instruction. Under the direction of Mrs.Garcia, I quickly was able to expand my knowledge. Less than a few months at the school, I realized that music is my calling. With college approaching at an ever increasing rate, I’ve begun to plan my life in incredible detail. The one thing that remains constant in my planning would have to be music. Music is my life. This summer, I shall begin touring colleges. My first choice would have to be UW-Milwaukee. Both my band director and private lessons teacher went there. They’re both fantastic and I look up to them. Musical education would be an amazing thing to do. I want the opportunity to watch as a child grows under my instruction. I want to be able to have someone look up to me as much as I look up to my lessons teacher. I want to inspire a child to take...

What Role Does Philosophy Have in My Life?

...What Role Does Philosophy Have in my Life? In many circumstances individuals consider Philosophy to be a very abstract field, but what exactly is Philosophy? Philosophy studies the basic nature of existence, of man, and of man's relationship to existence. What we must question is, would one be better off with or with out Philosophy? I consider that one should live a life with Philosophy. Philosophy consists of questioning man’s relationship to existence; if man does not question existence, are we just living through the notions of life? As humans we feel the need to believe in something and search for understanding. The consideration of Philosophy opened a new realm of questions. The fields of Metaphysics and Epistemology were derived from Philosophy. If not for these branches of Philosophy, how would I have known to question what I already know? How would I have been able to describe what I perceive? How about being able to explain my surroundings? It all came for the fields of Philosophy. If not for Philosophy, we would have yet to appreciate the meaning of esthetics, the study of art. We encounter esthetics everywhere we go. In the buildings we see, the words we speak, the sounds we hear, in the music we create. Simply the emotions we express throughout the day can be considered part of esthetics. One must use Philosophy to help us give reason to life, and not view it as absurd and meaningless. We all have some sense of what is right, and what is wrong. Whether we......

The interesting thing about mine is I can associate music with each good memory in my life. From early childhood to current time I have memories of music that defines the memories of my life. I will explain each era of my life, the music I listened to and how that music impacted it. My childhood memories of music is of sitting on Sunday listening to vinyl records with my dad after church. It was a very special memory of mine because I was really close to my dad. The type of music we listened to was classic Country and Western. We would listen to artists such as Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Sr., George Jones, Tammy Wynette and Willie Nelson. In the textbook it states,” Country and western music has carried on the narrative tradition of folk music, adding its own unique tales to the repertoire.” (Janaro & Altshuler 2012, page 173) I can remember listening to Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn singing the song, Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man. These songs I listened to with my dad made me happy and I was glad that I could share this time with my dad. My adolescence was an interesting time because I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. I grew up listening to soft rock, disco, rock n roll, hair metal and country music. I listened to many artists such as, Air Supply, KC and the Sunshine......

Music in My Life

...comes from a family of music. Both his father and grandfather played the trumpet. He learned how to play the guitar at the very young age of 4. Some of the artists who inspired him were Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray. I am drawn to this artist for his style of blues and rock. His music makes me feel mellow and calm. Makes me want to be at a bar drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette and listen to him play live. The culture/environmental music that I can identify in this music are the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. Joe’s music is mostly guitar and drums. My Overall impression of the album is excellent. I only disliked 2 songs from the entire album. My favorite song from the album was song title “Reconsider baby” and my second was “When she dances”. Both are slower and mellow. The songs are very calming and easy to listen too. My least favorite song was “Faux Martini”. This song was my least favorite because it sounds too much like country and I’m not a country fan. Sounds very honky tonk and that’s not my style at all. One of the musical characteristics I found is his music was texture. His music is very thick and full. It’s a part of western music and that is what Joe sings. I can identify specially the acoustic, bass and electric guitars involved. The flow of the album seemed to go pretty steady. The album made sense to me. It seemed as though the album was long connected project but I also feel like it’s not very hard for him to create music. It seems like it comes...

Music in My Life

...experience, music can be a hard concept, especially singing. At the age of nine, I stepped into the field of music. Little did I know that it would be life-changing. My story begins in 2001. My mother asked if I would be interested in singing. I hadn’t given it much thought. She suggested I join the Phoenix Boys Choir. She explained what it was and how successful it had always been. I decided to try out. When I arrived, I met the conductor in charge of the younger boys. She had me sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” A few moments later the conductor announced that I had passed my audition and would soon be a member of the training choir. I was so thrilled I couldn’t say a word. This would turn out to be one of the most memorable moments of my life. I was going to be a member of the internationally known Phoenix Boys Choir! I moved up through the levels of the choir quickly. Every boy longs to be in the most elite group – the Tour Choir. After two years, I made it. At 11 I had learned more about music than I could possibly have imagined. I learned music theory and how to read music. By the end of seventh grade I had been to Spain, Italy, and France. In Rome we performed at Saint Peter’s Basilica. It was a blessing to be able to sing in such a holy setting. We also sang in the Florence Cathedral. We traveled around the United States performing with other choirs. Often we sang for dignitaries. I think God blessed me with this talent because he wanted me to share......
