The Differences in Education between China and America A large number of students from China are planning to attend college in the America over the next five years. However, there are many differences in education between China and America. In fact, it is hard to be successful in American college. How the Chinese student to be successful, and what are the differences in education between two countries? I think there are three differences in education between China and America ways of studying was learning, and using different languages. First, there is a different way to study between China and America. In China, students study very hard every day because they have lots of homework. However, there is not much homework in the America. Chinese's teacher thinks homework is the good way to studying, but American student doesn’t have lots of homework. Chinese's teacher always gives a student some question out of the book because this is good for the GAO KAO exam. Chinese's student buy textbook each year, and it is cost more money. In America, the teacher wants to the student read book, and never give the student much homework. If you finish the lesson’s homework, it would be enough for exam. If you read the book, you will be easy past the exam. American teacher also don’t give extra homework because they know it is enough lesson for the student today. If Chinese student wants to be successful at an American college, they should study hard and read the book well. Second, there are two difference ways to learning between China and America. Chinese's teacher would like letting the student remember all of things in the book, and practice multiple-choice and the essay questions until students can remember these questions. In fact, it helps for doing the exam. In the America, the…...

The difference between Western and Eastern education - Education system in need of change? 林怡廷 (Joyce Lin) 三年十八班 台北市立育成高級中學 1 PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www.pdffactory.com The difference between Western and Eastern education. I. Introduction: People tend to think that Westerners are more assertive and creative, while Easterners are more conservative and reserved. So what makes all these difference? I would suggest it is the result of the different education systems. Having studied under both foreign and local teachers, I discovered that their approaches to teaching are fundamentally different. In this essay, I would like to examine and evaluate these differences. This is vitally important as it influences our choices and responses in life beyond school. And will finally determine our values, the quality of our lives and the satisfaction we derive from life. II. Thesis: A. Teacher-centered and student-centered I would say that the prime difference between the two education systems is that one uses teacher-centered classes, and the other uses student-centered classes. In the Eastern education system, the teacher is the only authority; his or her words are not to be questioned. Students are not expected to speak up in class or respond to the questions that the teacher asks. Therefore, most of the questions are rather rhetorical. Questions are brought up for the teachers to answer. Thus, there is...

Difference Between China and Sub-Saharan in Economic Growth and Development

...Difference between China and Sub-Saharan in economic growth and development This essay will try to analyse the difference between China and Sub- Saharan region countries on the economic growth and development issue from an overall view. In order to contrast the different development and growth methods between china and a whole Sub-Saharan region of countries, the essay will introduce the solow model in order to simplify the analysis, because in order to conduct a precise research, too many factors need to be controlled, so introducing a model which can simplify but not change the fact is appropriate. The basic assumptions of the solow model remain unchanged in this essay because the first assumption of constant returns will stand as both China and Sub- Saharan countries are economy which are large enough “that the gains from the specialization have been exhausted” (D. Romer (2011), "Advanced Macroeconomics", McGraw–Hill, New York, 1996.). The second assumption which neglects other impacts on the economy development will be discussed in the later paragraphs like policy, population, human capital and so on. Figure 1. Influence of Cultural Differences Between China and West on Hotel Management

...compared with those of China. However, just as Rome is not built in one day, the successful and mature mode is developed and accumulated throughout a long time in Western society. If the successful experience is engrafted directly to China’s hotel industry, confusions and discrepancies will occur essentially due to the cultural differences between China and the West. As the pace of International economic integration goes increasingly faster, China’s hotel industry is facing the challenge of creating its unique management characteristics and choosing proper management modes based on absorbing advanced experiences from the west. In this paper, the cultural effects on the differences of hotel management styles in China and Western countries are discussed specifically from humanity cognition, way of thinking, sense of hierarchy and innovation consciousness points of view, etc. By such comparison and analysis, gaps of management standards can be easily seen between China and West. Then, some theoretical references are proposed as suggestions for the right direction of China’s hotel management methods so as to meet the international standards. 1. Introduction of hotel industry in China China’s dynamic economic growth has attracted business and investment interests from around the world over the past decade. Corporate demand for travel and lodging services will increase as additional international corporations establish operations in China. Increasing......

Differences of National Cultural Influences on Higher Education in China and the United States

These influences are the foundation of the education in a country. Due to these different influences every country has a different understanding of education. I will also concentrate on the influence of culture on education in China and in the United States (U.S.) with special emphasis on Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions, because culture and history can lead the way in understanding the differences among student’s higher education. 1.2 Objectives The paper investigates the differences between the education in China and the U.S. against the background of dramatical differences in culture and history. Based on Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions and the history the effect on education and instructional strategies in China and the U.S. will be discussed. 1.3 Course of the Investigation To achieve the objectives the course of the investigation will be carried out in three steps. In the first step the conceptual background on the topic will be defined to provide a basis. Chapter 2 describes the theory and the five Dimensions of Hofstede’s Culture’s Consequences. In the second step the explanations......

Difference Between Nurses with Different Level of Education

...Difference between nurses with different level of education As nursing has become a highly competent profession, the educational opportunities for nurses have increased significantly. The hospitals and other organizations that provide health care are also competing with each other and now the demand for nurses with bachelor degree is increasing. For decades the American Nurses association and the National League for nursing have attempted to make the BSN the only educational program for RNs in the US. This essay focuses on the difference in the competencies between nurses prepared at the associate-degree level versus the baccalaureate-degree level in nursing. Studies have shown that the higher educated RNs have a better overall patient satisfaction, better outcomes related to medical condition, and a lower overall cost of care. According to Williams, (1995) a study conducted by Little and Brian, indicates that higher education enhances the personal and professional growth during and after graduation. The article also indicates that as per the study conducted by Whalen nurses with baccalaureate degree had a strong bureaucratic and professional orientation. Some studies indicated that the more number of nurses with bachelor degree are members of professional organization where as very few nurses with associate degree have membership in professional organizations (Williams). The trend in nursing is going professional. Professional nursing in the......

A serious question may therefore bring great laghter, while an innocuous statement horrible anger, which caused by culture difference. Experts in sociology claimed that every single culture is distinctive. The word 'culture' is defined as follow in Oxford Advanced Learner's English Chinese Dictionary: customs, arts, social institutions, etc of a particular group or people. Among all distinctions, difference in daily life plays a special role. More details of lifes oversees are shown with the rapid development of communication and media. The Difference Between Citizenship Education and Civic Education

...This essay endeavors to discuss the connection between citizenship education and civic education. It will further look at whether there is a difference between   the two or if they are the same. Lastly, the conclusion will be drawn. Before going into a detailed discussion it is prudent to define the key words, that is , Civic education and Citizenship education respectively. Civic Education is a broader field and therefore can be defined in   many different ways depending on the orientation of the educators, time , place and dictates of the political regime in the country. Zambia Civic Education Association (2004:38) “Civic Education refers to the formal awareness of the country’s citizens about their moral and legal entitlements (rights), their expected moral and legal functions(duties) as well as the extent to which they can influence the utilization of national/public resources, monitor leadership legitimacy and take part in decision making (governance).” Hamwiinga (2008:2) defines Civic Education as “an envisaged broader- based subject which relates to human beings and relationship with the natural, physical, social and cultural environment.” According to UNDP (2004) “ Civic Education is learning for effective participation in democratic and development processes at both local and national levels”. This then implies that if the citizens have not learnt about Civic Education they will not be able to uphold good democratic values thereby failing to be part of the local and......

Different Education Between China and America

...Different Education Between China And America Have you ever thought about the question: that why Chinese students need to sit straight and being silent during classes? But American students can have the class outside, sitting on the green grass and enjoying the blue sky and sunshine. And there are many reports or news segments talking about the differences between Chinese and American education. As the result, I want to compare and contrast the two different systems between China and America. In China, the classroom is a place that is very serious and formal. What you should do is just sit in the classroom and listen to your teacher, taking your notes silently. But during the class in America, it is viable. Students in America’s classroom do not just listen. They can discuss to their teacher or classmates. And Chinese students have full day classes. And they do not have the chance to change the time of their studying and they must abide by the arrangement from school. AS Chinese student Yue Peizhou described his typical day, which Schuylkill Valley students were surprised to hear is significantly longer than their day. “They usually get up at 6 a.m. and get to school about 7 a.m., he said, they have classes and then a two-hour lunch, where sometimes we nap. Then we have more classes, and usually we stay at school doing homework until 10 p.m.” (Connor, Erinn no page) Chinese students have much homework to do. They do not have the time to relax or do something they like.......

Cultural Differences Between China and Japan

...cultural differences between target countries and our native country. National culture is the set of shared values and beliefs that affects the perceptions, decisions, and behavior of the people from a particular country. Even two countries whose geographic distance is close, their cultural differences may vary a lot, for example, China and Japan. From the graph I get on the website, the biggest cultural difference between China and Japan is on uncertainty avoidance, which is the degree to which people in a country are uncomfortable with unstructured, ambiguous, unpredictable situations. The fact that China has a comparatively low score on this dimension reflects that Chinese are adaptable and entrepreneurial, and comfortable with ambiguity. On the contrary, at 92 Japan is one of the most uncertainty avoiding countries on earth. Japanese learned to prepare themselves for any uncertain situation. This goes not only for the emergency plan and precautions for sudden natural disasters but also for every other aspects of society. On long term orientation, both China and Japan have relatively high scores. This dimension describes how every society has to maintain some links with its own past while dealing with the challenges of the present and future. Therefore, these two countries show an ability to adapt traditions easily to changed conditions, a strong propensity to save and invest, thriftiness, and perseverance in achieving results. Both on individualism and indulgence,......

In 2012, I visited the Cleveland Clinic in the United States. I was astonished to see that the Cleveland Clinic was like a hotel! The health care gap between China and the US is the most treasure thing I’ve learnt during the year I stayed in the US besides medical professionals: there are still too much to learn from American medical service. It’s truly enjoyable for American patients visit clinic. They may fully communicate with the friendly and skilled experts. The root of the gap Does it have anything to do with the population? Not exactly. Data from the World Bank in 2010 showed that there were 1.5 practicing doctors among every 1,000 Chinese, and this number was 2.4 among 1,000 Americans. The difference between both countries is......
