The Institute of Internal Auditors lays out specific eligibility requirements for CIA certification. Like the CPA, the candidates must have a four year post-secondary degree or higher from an accredited university (The Institute of Internal Auditors, 2013) and are required to provide acceptable documentation to the fact. An alternative eligibility path was approved by the Board of Directors for those that do not possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. The requirements for this are subject to approval but include: two years post-secondary education and five years verified experience in internal auditing or its equivalent; or seven years of verified experience in internal auditing or its equivalent (The Institute of Internal Auditors, 2013). Alternative Teaching Certification

...would not ordinarily be appealing to. It encourages attention to data, assertiveness and self-confidence in pushing through whatever challenges arise. It has been shown that students taught by Teach for America recruits topped their peers in math and equaled them in reading. Those opposed to Teach for America argue that five weeks training is not enough, nor adequate to know the subject matter. They feel as though the students are at a disadvantage having a teacher who does not know how to teach. Even if the teachers rapidly improve, they often leave the profession before the benefits of their experience can make an impact in the classroom. It has been shown that almost half of Teach for America instructors leave the profession after their two-year commitment. Such a turnover results in a continuous array of rookies. School districts must also spend more money on recruiting as a result of Teach for America. The organization charges school districts per teacher it provides, and districts spend extra money to train teachers once they are hired. I personally would not feel comfortable enough to be a recruit for Teach for America let alone be a school administrator that hires one. I do not see how a short five-week summer training program could possible prepare a recruit for such things as behavior management, classroom management, diverse learners, students with learning disabilities etc. It is like throwing a person to the wolves to teach without any prior classroom......

Studying develops specific skill and knowledge, but it is the presentation of your skill and knowledge that satisfies the exam. This difference is vital to successful exam study. Multiple choice: What’s right and what’s wrong? Knowing what is wrong (and why it is wrong) as well as what is right, demonstrates mastery, and can lead you safely through the minefield of exam distracters (incorrect answer choices). Ineffective study may leave you knowing only a narrow vision of what is right in a particular circumstance. Multiple choice certification exams emulate the real world by including subtle knowledge, descriptions, and information. On the job, a customer: • May not provide information in a standard way every time • May present you with information that is irrelevant to the job • May end up confusing several different issues, but mistakenly present just one issue Memorizing obvious factual knowledge may not deliver enough. Certification exams probe for mastery-level ability - beyond knowledge of a simple fact. You must be able to actively apply your knowledge in skills such as troubleshooting, installing or configuring. Follow a balanced study “diet” Look at an exam topic from......
