Task 1(A)

Global Marketplace Activity (A1)

The Army ITA which is primarily located at the Pentagon in Northern VA supports well over 30,000 Active Military, Department of the Army Civilians, and Contractors within the Metro DC area. The ITA also supports numerous end users all over the globe in order to further the mission of the US Army. It is a 24/7/365 operation with tier one and tier two support available 24 hours a day seven days a week including holidays.
Risk Source (A2)

With being part of the global arm of the United States military, that puts the ITA at risk of theft of equipment or sensitive or classified documents by those who wish harm on the mission or even the country. The source of this can come from outside factors such as terrorists for example ISIL, Boko Haram, Al Qaeda; Criminals in the US as well as abroad, political groups such as Anonymous. Insider threats include spies and disgruntled employees who disagree with the mission or are at odd with the United States government.

Even though the metro DC area is in a technology heavy area, the country is slowly coming out a recession and the job market can be very competitive. Finding and keeping experienced and educated support staff to cover the work queues is needed to keep the Service Level Agreement within the confines of the contract. Likewise many of the certifications are expensive to procure and the Department of Defense requires continuing education to keep the certification up to date.

For the third risk identified, hardware failure, could be caused by many different scenarios, there is really not one source of the issue. The primary one is a system that is out of warranty or is toward the end of its lifecycle, another could be a faulty piece of hardware, or a system cannot handle the demands of the end user. Other possible causes are general wear and tear, accidents and…...

...assess users satisfaction levels towards their service so that they can use the feedback to make positive adjustments to their products and services. Iravo et. al., (2013) state that dissatisfied customers will be disloyal to the organization and will talk about their bad experience to other customers. In this study CRM is viewed as a customer strategy for retaining customer loyalty and improving hotels performance. 2.2 Strategic planning and hotel performance The history of strategic planning dates back to long-range planning (Cappelli, 2005). Strategic planning was therefore a proactive alternative to long-range planning which was found to be obsolete because it was not increasing firm’s true value. Strategic Planning is a core task of senior management which involves fourteen (14) processes (Armstrong, 2010). These processes are designing objectives, planning strategy, establishing goals, developing company philosophy, policies, procedures, organization structures, establishing personnel and facilities, capital, establishing standards, programs and operational plans and 86 International Journal of Arts and Commerce Vol. 2 No. 11 December, 2013 institutionalization, evaluation and control. Group Task

...Science+Business Media B.V. 2009 Abstract This paper reviews some of the literature on the use of groupwork as a form of assessment in tertiary institutions. It outlines the considerable advantages of groupwork but also its systemic associated problems. In discussing the problems, the paper considers issues such as ‘‘free riding’’ and the ‘‘sucker effect’’, issues associated with ethnic mix in groups, and the social dilemma problem—in which students face conflicting demands between altruism and self-interest. The paper then outlines several models of effective groupwork and makes suggestions for implementing groupwork tasks. The paper also looks at the key assessment tasks which are commonly employed—namely, additive, conjunctive, disjunctive and discretionary tasks—and assesses which are most suited to groupwork. The paper considers the related issues of task complexity, recognition for effort, and strategies for minimising issues concerning group size. The paper also briefly considers strategies for implementing incentives for groupwork members, and outlines the issue of penalties for unproductive group members. The paper concludes by providing recommendations for how to maximise the advantages of groupwork while trying to minimise the disadvantages. Keywords Groupwork Á Assessment Á Free-riding Á Sucker effect Introduction: the advantages of groupwork The importance of groupwork as a form of assessment has long been recognised among educators. ...data-collection to conclusions) to those of Assignment 01, conduct the research, and report on it. Many of you have NOT read Tutorial Letter 101, because you continue to incorrectly formulate your tasks with the objective to measure or describe effects, impact, influence, or effectiveness in your research portfolios. Please remember that you are NOT measuring or describing the:   effects of creative concepts on consumers’ behaviour effects of the nature of targeted readers (e.g. their income or gender) of specific magazines on the use of creative concepts in certain advertisements. Such studies warrant longitudinal research. It is almost impossible to determine a direct influence between one variable and the effect thereof. An experimental design is required and it entails pre- and posttesting. Research of this nature requires explanatory objectives and you as researcher will have to exclude all extraneous and any intervening and confounding variables. Longitudinal research is NOT applicable to our study. If your examination portfolio task contains any of above actions (that is, measuring or describing the “effects”, “impact”, “influence” or “effectiveness” of an independent variable on an dependent variable), zero percentage (0%) will be allocated to the content of the task. ONLY your technical presentation (maximum 5%), self-assessment and self-reflection (maximum 5%) will be assessed. 3 Some students formulated eight main issues and......

...Nancy Bosch Task 2 Student #000514178 Task 2: Protein Structure A. ("Amino Acids") B.   (Rafael) (Wolfe) (Rafael) C. (Wolfe) D. (Wolfe) E.  Explain the four forces (i.e., bonds or interactions) that stabilize a protein’s structure at the tertiary level. Hydrophobic interactions- R group in the amino acid is non-polar and therefore will avoid contact with water by joining together in the interior of the molecule, it will avoid contact with water. Van der Waals- this interaction occurs when the hydrophobic R groups that are packed together have a weak attraction that helps to reinforce the hydrophobic bond. Ionic bonding- The R group must have a charge. In this case the opposites attract (positive to negative/ negative to positive) forming a very strong bond.Disulfide bridges- These bonds are formed with the help of cysteine. One of the sulfur atoms from cysteine forms a single covalent bond with a second sulfur atom from another cycsteine located in the protein chain. (Wolfe) F.  Explain how bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) occurs at a molecular level by doing the following: 1. Explain the role of prions in BSE, including each of the following: ●  how prions are formed A prion is a protein that causes infection. They are formed when a mutation occurs. A normal prion protein called PrPc is found in our neurons in our brains. This normal protein gets altered and becomes a PrPsc protein which then binds to another normal......

Leadership Task

...Leadership JAT Task 2 Dawn Power WGU E1. Goals Goals are important to the success of a group. Goals are a major factor in motivation. Goals must provide task direction and help to achieve desired results. Goals should give a team something to reach for and align with the team’s mission and strategy. Goals must be specific and challenging and not general or unrealistic to accomplish. Our team realized the importance of goals in the beginning and that is why we were able to achieve every goal that was set in the initial meeting. The following were our goals that we set for the group: 1. Be prompt for all calls-each team member usually arrived 10-15 minutes early for every call that was scheduled. 2. Respect for each other’s time by communicating to the team leader if unable to participate in the calls-each member of the team made every call that was scheduled. 3. Everyone was expected to participate in the calls-every member of the team actively participated in the calls providing feedback when needed. E2. Motivation Strategies Motivating a team can be more challenging than motivating one person because each person within the team has different personalities, values, beliefs and goals. If a team can capitalize on each team member’s positive traits that they bring to the group, it will enable the team to be motivated and achieve more. Every team needs some form of motivation to accomplish its goals. Our team effectively established......
