Stoning and Muslims The thought of stoning someone is just appalling to me. In the Stoning of Soraya M., Soraya was stoned because she was accused of committing adultery. Although they did not have proof of this actually occurring, she was stoned anyway. This presents a problem for me personally. Although I am not from a place that condones stoning women for committing adultery, I do not think that this is a morally right thing to do. Even if a woman actually did commit adultery, in my opinion she still should not be stoned to death in front of the entire town. I also think that the male children of the town should not be able to participate in this kind of violence especially if it is their mother that is about to be stoned to death. I think that this practice is dehumanizing to the Iranian women in the village and anywhere else that stoning occurs. If they want to punish the women for committing adultery or allegedly committing adultery, maybe they could come up with another form of punishment that does not include the women having to be put to death. I thought that it was very sad to see Soraya have to go through the things that she endured before her death. No woman should to endure a husband being abusive towards them, and then to have to find out that he is cheating on her with a much younger woman. I do not blame her for not wanting to give him a divorce. If that was me, I probably would not give him one either if I was not going to have anything to be able to support my children. I just do not see why everyone was so quick to assume that Soraya was committing adultery especially since they wanted her to take that job anyway. In my opinion, it was a setup from the beginning. Her husband knew that he could get everyone to believe the accusations that he made against her. The one person that could have stopped the entire thing decided not to. He just…...

Definition of 'Sleeping Beauty' A company that is considered prime for takeover, but has not yet been approached by an acquiring company. A company may be considered a sleeping beauty for a variety of reasons, including large cash reserves, undervalued real estate, undervalued share price, attractive assets, or strong growth and earnings potential. A takeover, or acquisition, is typically characterized by the purchase of a smaller company by a larger firm. The acquiring company generally offers a cash price per share, thereby purchasing the target outright for its own shareholders. Investopedia explains 'Sleeping Beauty' In relation to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), a sleeping beauty is a company that is "sleeping"; that is, one that is ripe for takeover to achieve its full potential. A sleeping beauty might be a new company that has great potential but has not yet been noticed, or it could be an established company that has not been managed well, and is therefore not maximizing its potential. A sleeping beauty essentially lies in wait until a takeover occurs, at which point the company theoretically would be able to live up to its potential. M&M Project

...M Project Report Israel Sharipo September 13, 2013 Abstract This paper shows the true proportions of M&M candies through the random sampling of 3 different bags of plain M&M 1.69oz bag of candy bought from three different stores. I believed one will be able to determine data analysis and how it works as it relates to our class project. Introduction The rationale of writing this paper is to show how statistics data analysis works. Statistics as we learned, is the practice of collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data to make decisions. The two types of data used in the project are sampling and proportions. The methods used can be used by any professional or in any occupation. It can be used to determine the standard deviation, mean of any data among others. Part 1 In part one, each student was asked to take a tally of the 3 bags of candies bought from three different stores. And then we were asked to count the totals of each color in all 3 bags. Part 2 We used the excel data provided to complete the assignment. We looked at the data from two perspectives” color and proportions and the number of candies per bag. For the color proportion; we used the total for each color divided but the total number of candies sampled. As for the number of candies per bag, we use the data in the number candies in bag column. We used......

Apparently, she doesn’t want to throw it away, but she is also not using it. So, I thought it might not be hard to trade my paper clip for this frame which became my target point. Another reason I targeted this frame was that I wanted to start big so that I could trade for more valuable items with less number of trades. I didn’t reveal my purpose when I started talking to her; rather, I told her that I liked the frame and got her to talk a lot about it. Through our conversation, I confirmed my assumption that this frame is a thing of little value or interest for her but she just doesn’t want to throw it away. Then I told her my purpose and she agreed to trade with me. One thing that really helped me was information about the frame and how she was thinking. Soraya Reflection

...What kind of a mother is Soraya to her children? A mother who would sacrifice her own happiness and freedom just to e with her children and give her children the care and they deserve. Her legacy of eing a mother to her children is an evidence or proof of how unconditional a mother’s love is towards her children. How does the community in the said film view women? The true to life story film depicted women as less important in the society. They regard women as a liability. The film showed how insignificant women are in that place. They look women as individuals who were born to serve men. It is heartbreaking to see that women treated like...

White Paper on Hrm in M&a

...increasingly looking to M&A to support their global growth strategies. The primary objectives for M&A’s are to cut costs, broaden market shares or take advantage of each other’s synergies and most typically to accelerate growth. Yet several studies indicate that more than half of all M&A deals fail to meet management’s strategic, operational and financial objectives. The crux of the matter lies in the excessive focus on financial due diligence, risk assessments. Quite often, the people factor, i.e. issues that relate directly to people as workforce management and cultural integration, are left out of the due diligence process creating major challenges later during integration. In the past, HRM was expected to provide support in postintegration efforts, as well as increased business focus and knowledge to ensure that the full value of M&A deals is realized. For organizations, it important to believe in the fact that People are its key assets. However, today we realize that, mastering the softer issues is the hardest part of integration and has the strongest influence on an M&A’s long-term success. HRM professionals are expected to be ready to manage the people, opportunities and the risks associated in these transactions. Managing organizational change and business / culture integration requires more attention by Leadership and HRM to M&A deals. ______________________________________________________________________________ HRM in M&A By Ajit Kumar on......

The Stoning of Soraya M

...harrowing tale to tell about her niece, Soraya, and the bloody circumstances of Soraya's death, by stoning, the previous day. The two sit down as Zahra recounts the story to Freidoune, who records the conversation with his tape recorder. The journalist must escape with his life to tell the story to the rest of the world. Ali is Soraya's abusive husband who tries to get the village's mullah to convince Soraya to grant him a divorce so that he can marry a 14-year-old girl.[5][6] Ali is able to convince the mullah by making threats to tell the rest of the village about his past as a convict. Ali's marriage to the teenager is conditional on Ali's ability to save the girl's father, a doctor who has been sentenced to death for an unspecified crime. The mullah proposes that Soraya becomes his temporary wife, referred to in Iran as 'Sigeh', in exchange for protection and monetary support for Soraya and her two daughters. Zahra barges in and encourages Soraya to refuse the offer. Soraya has two sons whom Ali wants, and who have both turned against her. Some days following the incident, a woman dies. The mullah, the village's mayor, and Ali ask Zahra to persuade Soraya to care for the widower. Zahra suggests that Soraya may do the job if she is paid. Soraya starts working for the widower, and Ali plans to use the unusual circumstance to spread lies that Soraya is being unfaithful to him so that she will be stoned and he can remarry. The Stoning of Soraya M.

...Sara Kriselle A. Al Mohammed Cultural Anthropology May 23, 2016 Reflection Paper The Stoning of Soraya M. Up to this day, there are few countries who still perform executions like stoning or beheading; in Iran, Mauritania, in some parts of Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen where in these types of execution are still legal and performed on women by the cause of adultery. The movie "The Stoning of Soraya M.," based on a true story in Iran, where in women had their lack of rights in their country and how Soraya was abused and betrayed by her husband. Soraya was merely a victim. Her husband, Ali, wanted her executed so that he could get rid of her faster, while the widower lied in order to protect his son from being an orphan. Everything that has happened was a tragic and should be an eye-opener to all viewers and to inform them that women should have their rights as well. The Muslims looks at men as a more important people to the community, unlike women who are unheard or even abused. The way they dress; women are supposed to be covered from head to toe. There was a scene where in Mullah asked Soraya to get a divorce, but because she was worried about her children, Mullah suggested that she could be a temporary wife. And he said that it was ok and it is part of their religion, but according to Zahra it was a sin so she started cursing him. In their religion, age is not a big deal deal to them and an example......

Data Collection III. Data Analysis IV. Conclusion V. References Abstract This paper examines the proportion of M&M candies through the random sampling of 3 bags. After reading this paper one should have a better understanding of the process that accompanies packaging M&M candies. The bags used in the experiments were taken from different stores to help ensure a true sample of all the 1.69 oz of plain M&M candies. I. Introduction The purpose of this paper is to provide a written report of the five part M&M project. Part one was sampling. We were to purchase 3 bags of M&M and record the color counts of each bag in an Excel spread sheet. For part two we calculated the sample proportions for each color, the mean number of candies per1.69oz bag, created a histogram for the number of candies per bag, use Excel to compute the descriptive statistics for the total number of candies per bag and summarize the information. In part three we located the 95% confidence interval for the proportion of blue, orange, green, yellow, red and brown.......

...Running head: M&M PROJECT REPORT Abstract This paper examines the proportion of M&M candies through the random sampling of 156 bags. After reading this paper one should have a better understanding of the process that accompanies packaging M&M candies. The bags used in the experiments were taken from different stores to help ensure a true sample of all the 1.69 oz of plain M&M candies. Introduction: Purpose of Report The purpose of this report is to examine the five project parts of an M&M analysis and examine a method for quality control. The parts of this project included using random sampling to gather data on the number of colored M&M candies, the sample proportion and sample mean, constructing a 95% confidence interval and testing claims of M&M candies. By the end of this report a better understanding of the methods behind packing M&M candies should be gained.  Project Part 1: Sampling Method To begin the M&M analysis a random sample of three 1.69oz bags of plain M&M candies where purchase by each individual students from three different stores. A random sample ensures that every member of the population has a chance to be selected. The population in statistics refers to the “collection of all outcomes, responses, measurements, or counts that are of interest (Larson, & Farber, 2009).” Buying bags from different stores assures a true sample of the population of all 1.69 oz bags of plain M&M candies. M M Paper

...M&M’s Write Up 1. Bag Weight Analysis The bag weight analysis focuses on whether the weight of the bag of M&Ms is consistent with the advertised weight around 50oz. We assumed the series of data containing the classes’ weights to be approximately normal. Since n=48, the large-sample test for population mean was used to determine the plausibility that the advertised weight was true. 2. Color Distribution Analysis The color distribution analysis calculated whether or not the color distribution of the bag of M&Ms accurately depicts the advertised proportions. The number of orange M&Ms in our bag suggested that the proportion was consistent with the advertised proportion of 20%. Since all of the expected values for the distributions were over the standard values, the data suggested that the color distribution was not consistent with the advertised distribution. However, another possibility is that the color distributions truly are not accurate and were ball-parked for curious customers. 3. M&M Variability Analysis Through the use of a histogram and confidence interval of the standard deviation, the variance in the weight of individual M&Ms was analyzed. The sample size was taken from around 50oz bag of M&Ms. Judging from the shape of the histogram, the confidence range, and the analysis of the M&M manufacturing process, it was concluded that individual M&Ms have very little variance from the mean weight. 4. Defects......

M &M Project

...M & M’s Project Erica Warren Strayer University Abstract Over a short time frame of approximately 11 weeks, data was collected and recorded, on the number of candies of each color, within several bags of 1.69 ounces of plain M & M’s. The purpose of this experiment was to examine the packaging process for these plain M & M candies. A random sample on several bags of 1.69 ounces of M & M’s was collected and the population data was produced. The main focus of this project is the color proportions and the number of candies per bag. Calculations were done for the sample proportions, mean, and sample mean of the number of candies per bag. An excel spreadsheet was created to show a histogram for the number of candies as well as a descriptive statistics which summarized other information. Confidence intervals, for the proportion of each color as well as the mean number of candies, were constructed at 95%. Several hypotheses test, along with conclusions was calculated for the color proportions to test Master foods USA statements. The final step was to compare the red and brown candies and test the hypotheses to see if they were equal. This paper will introduce you to the methods that were used and the result for each part of the project. M & M Project With this project, I will be examining the five project parts of an M & M analysis and examine the methods of quality control. A&M Paper

...Every summer since I was eleven years old, I attended a church camp called Camp Capers in Waring, Texas. From tubing in the Guadalupe River to sitting next to your date on Bonfire Night, it has become my second home. It’s located in the country where the stars are magnificent and the sounds of obnoxious crickets become heaven to your ears. Camp Capers is filled with joy and love and brings wonderful gifts to the campers as it brings the children of God closer to Him. Not only has Camp Capers touched my life, but the staff, counselors, and campers who experience these incredible weeks with me have also. Campers are constantly surrounded by Christians who adore God’s goodness and who also adore each other. Every summer I’m touched and inspired by each and every person, either because of the person’s stories or because I see the growth of spirituality that God is working in them today. But one counselor and teacher will always have that special place in my heart, and her name is Sarah Cozad. My first year as a camper, I was blessed to have Sarah Cozad as my counselor in cabin fourteen. Her energy and genuine kindness made me feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment I met her. Throughout my first week, I was nervous and self-conscious because I did not know anyone and it was my first time away from home without my parents. One night after chapel and all the activities were finished, we had a cabin gathering called Devotions. Sarah told us to write one thing we were......

...hypothesis (α = 0.05) that the population proportions of red and brown are equal (pred = pbrown). You are testing if their proportions are equal to one another, NOT if they are equal to one another AND equal to 13%. NOTE: These are NOT independent samples, but we will use this approach anyway to practice the method. This also means that n1 and n2 will both be the total number of candies in all the bags. The “x” values for red and brown are the counts of each we found on the Data page. You will need to calculate the weighted p: Be sure to state clear hypotheses, test statistic, critical value or p-value, decision (reject/fail to reject), and conclusion in English. Submit your answer as a Word, Excel, .rtf or .pdf format through the M&M® project link in the weekly course content. HELP You can use StatCrunch or the TI to help with this test. Needed information for both tools include: x1 = number of red n1 = total number of candies x2 = number of brown n2 = total number of candies For the TI, you will want 2-PropZTest. Then select the appropriate alternative (not equal), and Calculate then enter. The output will have the test statistic (z), p-value (p), sample p values, weighted p ( ), then repeat of sample sizes. For StatCrunch, you will select Stat > Proportions > Two Sample > with summary. The output will contain the test statistic (Z-Stat) and p-value.
