...| | | | | | | | | | | ----------------------- Stakeholders are all those individuals or groups who have an interest in the decisions made by a business. Most decisions affect a number of stakeholders. The following is an example: In 1988, UK company Rowntree Macintosh was taken over by Swiss company Nestlé. Rowntree was based in York and was famous for Smarties, Quality Street and many other confectionery brands. In September 2006 Nestlé announced that 645 jobs would be lost at the plant in York – Smarties would be made in Hamburg instead. The interests of stakeholders are intertwined. The decision was a bad one for some stakeholders but a good one for others. Links and interdependencies – businesses must take account of the interests of all of its stakeholders and these interests are interdependent. If Virgin Trains decide to use greener fuels, this may increase the cost of journeys on Virgin. This may be seen by some as a bad thing as customers may have to pay higher prices and shareholders may get lower dividends, new suppliers are used rather than the old ones, jobs may be at risk and the government may lose taxes etc. However, it may also be seen......

Essay on Business Operations Management

...Function and Class. Smarty: 1. What is Smarty? Ans: Smarty is a template engine for PHP... but be aware this isn't just another PHP template engine. It's much more than that. 2. What's the difference between Smarty and other template engines? Ans: Most other template engines for PHP provide basic variable substitution and dynamic block functionality. Smarty takes a step further to be a "smart" template engine, adding features such as configuration files, template functions, variable modifiers (see the docs!) and making all of this functionality as easy as possible to use for both programmers and template designers. Smarty also compiles the templates into PHP scripts, eliminating the need to parse the templates on every invocation, making Smarty extremely scalable and manageable for large application needs. 1. can we use loop in smarty? - loops in smarty: http://www.smarty.net/docsv2/en/language.function.section.tpl http://www.smarty.net/docsv2/en/language.function.foreach 1. How can we write an javascript code in template? Ans: Surround your javascript with {literal}{/literal} tags. ---------------------- 3. What do you mean "Compiled PHP Scripts"? Ans: Smarty reads the template files and creates PHP scripts from them. Once these PHP scripts are created, Smarty executes these, never having to parse the template files again. If you change a template file, Smarty will recreate the PHP script for it. All this is done automatically by......

How to Be Smarty

...You might think that some people are just born more brainy than others but actually, there’s a lot we can all do to improve our brainpower and hence our intelligence. While there is a strong genetic component to intelligence, research shows that IQ is more a result of the way your genes interact with your environment. Therefore, intelligence can be nurtured and it doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time with your nose buried in a book, memorising facts, either! There are lots of ways to stimulate your brain and here are some recommendations: • Watch less TV – despite the promises of the best art house films or the most educational documentaries, watching TV doesn’t use your mental capacity in any useful way or even recharge it. Hours of staring at the monitor simply leave you feeling drained, with sore and tired eyes. So resist the temptation to just vegetate in front of the box – have a conversation with your friends or family instead, if you don’t have the energy to read a book or indulge in a creative activity.  • Read more – although choose your reading material wisely. Naturally, it is important to relax and enjoy your reading time with more popular material such as magazines, comics and commercial fiction but if you really want to stimulate your brain, then make sure that you also spend some time reading challenging literature. Classic novels can change the way you think and help you use more precise, elegant language. They will also help to build up your......

...when there occurs the 9/11 in which Muslim terrorists were involved. This leads to surge in prejudice against Muslims as a community. Here it must be noted that though only handful of Muslims were actually involved in 9/11 but blame is put on the community as a whole. This is the classic case of out group homo geneity bias. Not only the teacher in the Sam’s school teaches the students that Islam is most violent religion but Sam is continuously killed by his classmates. There is sarcasm for what is plain wrong but for nothing that's right. When it comes to f any community a very fine balance has been established. We get to see almost all the faces of humans out there in the world. The coward, the indifferent, the passing-the-bucker, the smarty pants, the fighter, the doubtful, the evil, the good.the list is endless. We just need to read the faces. Earlier, most Muslims were not under the radar of the American’s; there was freedom of speech for them in all the representatives of the constitution and could freely participate insocial events which is seen in the movie wherein Rizvan Khan, going to discovery museum thereby participating in a competition and winning the price. Also, they had the freedom to pursue their religion and culture in open world like wearing scarf’s, burka, growing long beards, which is depicted in movie from Haseena wearing scarf over the head to the university, streets and market place. Most importantly, there was no race discrimination from other races......

Theory of Mind

...answered that Maxi would look at location B, where they knew that the chocolate was placed, and not at place A where Maxi last saw it. However, most four year olds answered correctly on the task. Wimmer and Perner concluded that children negotiate a conceptual shift at the age of four, which allows them to acknowledge false belief. Gopnik and Astingtion (1988) discovered that children below four years of age couldn’t access their own states of belief, nor others. In their study children were shown a Smarties-tube and asked what they believed was inside. After the children obviously replied Smarties, the researchers opened the lid and revealed surprisingly that a set of pencils were inside. Subsequently, the researcher put the lid back on and asked ‘When you first saw the Smarties-tube, what did you think was inside?’ Most children below four years reported their recent belief and said ‘pencils’. In comparison, most 4 years old children reported the correct answer and said ‘Smarties’. The traditional conclusion is that younger children have not yet developed sufficient theory of mind to realise that other people may lack the knowledge or believe that does not match reality (Gopnik, 1993). Piaget believed that egocentricity is a feature only found in children. The absence of a theory of mind has been described as a cognitive limitation that expires within a certain age through a qualitative restructuring. This representation implies a categorical view of theory of......

...readily available, we tend to take chocolate for granted, and few of us probably ever consider what is involved in producing it. We don't know who first discovered that cocoa beans could be turned into a drink, but we do know that by 600AD the Mayan people living in what is now Mexico were growing cocoa in the jungles of Yucatan. In the mid-19th century an English cocoa manufacturer, Joseph Storrs Fry, tried mixing cocoa butter with sugar and cocoa paste and invented the world's first solid blocks of chocolate. All over the world you will find prominent brands first developed in the UK e.g. Smarties, Dairy Milk, Aero and of course Kit Kat (the UK's Number 1 selling confectionery brand since 1985). Boxed chocolates such as Quality Street make up 15% of the confectionery market. Blocks and bars like Kit Kat and Yorkie account for 65% and bitesize chocolates e.g. Smarties and Rolo make up 10% Chocolate manufacture provides steady employment and job security for tens of thousands of employees in manufacturing locations like York and Birmingham. The industry also generates jobs in marketing, administration, transport and storage. Chocolate sales are an important source of income for many retailers. Besides the cocoa beans themselves, raw materials for the chocolate industry include sugar, milk and wrapping/packaging materials e.g. paper, foil and card. As a major buyer Nestlé seeks to be as closely involved in the supply chain as possible, to ensure......

...he’s my class fellow, he’s just my class fellow, baba he was asking about the homework, please don’t beat mama’’! Such was the level of doubt he put on his wife and such was the level of sanity of the person umbrella once fell in love with. Every multiple month Umbrella used to reach the doorstep of her parents, muddled in fear and blood sometimes too. Umbrellas man had no reason to put umbrella into this misery but the only fact that he used to hide his failures like this. Being the eldest son of the family where everyone was in some respectable position while he was zilch in terms of earning and position, he was tortured enough by his over thinking mind that he was a FAILURE he that he was a MAD man. The three kids thunder, Ronaldo and smarty used to witness their parents quarrelling; they used to see the mother that used to sing for them at bedtime scream all day long because of the pain their father used to put on her. They used to hear all the dirty words their father used for their mother, they started learning them, even started abusing like their father. Umbrellas only hurdle, her children. She would have left the dirty man the very day he slapped her for the first time but only for her kids she tolerated. She waited and waited and died every day, yet she never cried in front of others, she tried to hide her pain and she tried to groom her children. The man had left no allegation marked on his wife, he doubted her with the most unethical things. God knows she was......

Assignment 2

...Silvia Chapa Dr. Karani 2-20-2014 Assignment 2 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Smarty Pants and Donorschoose both a 10 in their efforts to build credibility and trust. Both organizations used the eight techniques for engendering credibility, legitimacy, and trust. The fact that Smarty Pants advocates for brain health in children impresses me. It is great to see an organization put forth the effort to supply a vitamin that benefits children in receiving their correct micronutrients to support brain health. As stated in the textbook, “All children benefit from appropriate daily supplements of three micronutrients that support brain health – Omega 3, DHA, and Vitamin D. Until now, these three micronutrients could be bought separately, but were not available in a single table.” Smarty Pants was able to put all three micronutrients plus more in a single table for children. Thus, Smarty Pants having pediatricians approve helps their case and builds trust with their consumers. As for Donorschoose, I am impressed with how they display their live feedback in real time. This shows that the organization has nothing to hide and is willing to let the world view what everyone is thinks about them. This allows people who are interested in donating a perspective of what other people in the world have experienced with the organization or what they feel towards them, allowing more than only the bias opinion of people who are strictly working for the organization or......

...novels, but never attempted to publish them because of a lack of confidence in her work. Since the success of the first novel, Rowling has published three sequels: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Rowling intends to write a series of seven books, with each book chronicling one year in the life of Harry Potter at the Hogwarts School. Work on a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is planned to start late in 2000. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was named Children's Book of the Year, and won the British Book Award and the Rowntree Neslte Smarties Prize in 1997. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets received a Children's Book of the Year shortlist citation and the Rowntree Smarties Prize in 1998. Rowling won the Smarties Prize in 1999 as well, for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In addition to these awards, Rowling was named author of the year by the British Book Awards in 2000, and also received her first honorary degree, from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Major Works Readers are introduced to Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Orphaned while still an infant, Harry has been reluctantly and negligently raised by his relatives, the Dursleys. At the approach of his eleventh birthday, mysterious letters begin to arrive addressed to Harry. His Aunt and Uncle intercept his letters until one is delivered in person by a giant......
