John Johnson 123 A Street Citycenter, NY 12345 January 21, 2012 John Smith 345 B Street Citycenter, NY 12345 Dear Mr. Smith, I am writing to recommend Tom Thompson for the position of Sales Manager at ABC Company. I had the pleasure of working directly with Tom during his time as a salesperson at XYZ, Inc., and his tremendous abilities never ceased to amaze me. I was Tom’s direct supervisor at XYZ, and during that time, we worked together closely, so I fully understand his capabilities. Tom’s incredible adaptability with potential clients has let him excel in sales. His uncanny ability to know what the client wants before they tell him makes customers feel comfortable with him. His flexibility also allows him to quickly switch tactics if the customer changes their mind about something at the last minute. While at XYZ, Tom managed to sell our product to several clients who had been on the fence about wanting to buy our products for years. Tom’s great connection with the customers and relentless perseverance to always make the customer happy allowed him to become the number one salesperson at our company for five years in a row. The sales numbers he reached far exceeded any previous winners. Tom is also able to work effectively with other coworkers, making him a great addition to the team. After taking the initiative to sign up for classes on leadership and interpersonal skills, he even presented the information he learned to the rest of the company, which dramatically improved the way we communicate. I have enjoyed watching the way he has grown and excelled at XYZ, Inc. With his abilities, adaptability, and dedication, Tom will make a great Sales Manager for ABC Company. I have no doubts you will be exceptionally pleased if you hire him. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the above address. Sincerely, John Johnson

...Governor Dwight Green appointed Driscoll Scanlan, as one of the states 16 mine inspectors. Scanlan was highly recommended by a state representative(Martin,1948) . He was appointed as the Inspector of the district which included Centralia Mine No. 5. State inspectors jobs include making sure mine operators comply with the state mining law(Stillman , 2010). His first inspection of Centraila No. 5 was in 1942. In his first report, his recommendations included cleaning and sprinkling the haulage roads. Scanlan inspected the mine several times in the years before the explosion. At the end of each inspection he sent his report to the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals. Several of his reports throughout 1942-1944 repeated his previous recomendations. He reported 106 recoine and recommendations including 33 major ones. Martin defines major as a hazard that could result in disaster. The four logical alternatives Scanlan could have addressed were to shut down the mine, file a suit against the government, utilize media outlets and main a personal appearance to the main office and present his finding to the head of the company. Scanlan had the legal right to shut down the mine and although he continued to make reccomendations, his recommendations were never considered. Scanlan could have also utilized the newspapers and made the issue more known in the public to bring awareness to the public. If the public had likely known about the issues and the fact that the miners livers......

Maridian School Recomendation

...MERIDIAN MANAGEMENT SCHOOL (MMS) Mini Case Study Analysis (Human resource Perspective)   1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Management School of Meridian University is a specialist Postgraduate management school. MMS has being established 15 years before this case study was written since then MMS became leader in the field of postgraduate management. MMS has wide portfolio of courses both fulltime and part-time basis this was partly because of easy procedure for introducing new course. MMS has its own dedicated staff headed by head of school. The other staff of MMS composed of 20 academic staff, one SAO and 4 administrators from the four different divisions of MMS namely: Organisational Behaviour/Human Resource Management, Operation Management, Finance & Economics and Marketing. The organisational structure of MMS had relative flat structure, the academic staff who were equally divided into the four subject divisions were either lecturer or senior lecturer. In addition to that senior lecturer were only in a higher grade of the Salary scale of MMS but had same condition of employment with the lecturers. Currently MMS is facing problem of losing important staff who were important for the smooth going of school activities at a critical time of the year when MMS is getting ready for the new intake. 2.0 ISSUES: There a number of issues related to this case but I will concentrate more on issues on staffing since it is the most critical issue in this case. Sample Recommendation Lettter

...Below is a good sample of a recommendation letter that I've written up for a person that was recommending me. Now before you ask why I typed it out for someone else, first thing first, I had the explicit permission of the person that will be recommending me to write up or in this case type up a recommendation letter. Second, the said person that was recommending me is a busy professional and asked me to help them out by doing it myself. That person will be reading it over thus rejecting or approving said letter. Hope this works out for some people. This is one of two templates that I used when applying for grad school. Lookheed Case

...Recomendation: Lookheed made a huge mistake when estimating the breakeven point at 210 units by selling each unit for $16 million (see Appendix 1). This amount is not enough to cover the fixed cost that the company incurred before the L-1011 was on the market. Lookheed should have set a break even around 540 units in order to be profitable for investors. My recommendation for Lockheed would be to take advantage of its competitive advantage in the military aircraft field and apply its experience, know-how and financial resources on the commercial aircraft market in general. The company should have done a more extensive research about market and strategy opportunities when calculating the breakeven point. Rationale for Decision The fixed and variable costs that Lookheed incurred to make the L-1011 were too high if we consider only military client base. The gap between the price ($16 million) and variable costs ($14 million) was the insignificant amount of $2 million, not enough to cover the initial investment ($900 million) with only one market. Diversification does not only bring a higher cash flow, but also lower required rate of return. To my opinion, the required rate of return with which Lookheed Chief Financial Officer estimated the profitability of the project did not show the risk of offering only one client base. Definition of Problem The main issue in this case is the randomly estimations made by the company in order to make the project......

Product Recomendation

...New product Recomendation ABC Company is trying to increase sales from 1.2 million to 3 million within a 3 year time frame which is a very aggressive move to make since that goal of 3 million in sales is more than twice what the company is currently brining in. The company will need to review several factors to determine if this type of an increase is even possible to make by adding an additional product of making cedar doll houses to try to supplement the income. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration before any determinations can be made and before production of the doll houses could begin at all. Some of those possible set backs are: quality, competition, completion, and raw materials. Just looking at the numbers the company wants to grow starting a new product line does not appear to be a viable option at the moment but the correct answer would not be known for sure until all the numbers are run, a cash flow statement is created, the NPV is determined, and all potential risk factors are determined. When the company is trying to decide if they want to add an additional product line to their factories they need to look at several different factors before any decisions can be made on if or how they should go ahead with the new product line. Some of these considerations are quality, competition, completion times and raw materials. Quality needs to be considered because the company already has a set standard for quality it gives its......

Security Project

...accesses. No doubt it is a very much strong email system but there are some weaknesses to it, first is not able to support virtualization, second only 64 bit windows platform is supported and upgrade is also not possible. RECOMENDATION: In order to overcome all these issues I will suggest IBM mail servers which have all these features. The company can face a big problem if a new version released, the upgrade of the software will make the company to spend a lot of dollars. DATABSE WEAKNESS: The database used in the company for managing the database is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and the main disadvantage of using this version of SQL Server is that it is very much difficult to use triggers. Triggers can’t be viewed as easily as relationships, constraints, indexes, etc. Triggers execute invisible to client-application application. They are not visible or can be traced in debugging code. Triggers run every time when the database fields are updated and it is overhead on system. It makes system run slower. Also, since triggers are attached to the tables there is a risk to the tables if triggers are modified. The other drawback that the company faces is the scalability problem that comes in front of team when they have to implement virtualization. RECOMENDATION: The improvement can be done by downgrading and using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 which provides virtualization in a very convenient way as it provides the user the facility to open different instances. The cost is less......

Recomendations of the Sec Annual Report

...Recommendation 1. Urge the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Congress as appropriate, to provide for the creation by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) of a national center to facilitate auditing firms’ and other market participants’ sharing of fraud prevention and detection experiences, practices, and data and innovation in fraud prevention and detection methodologies and technologies, and commission research and other fact-finding regarding fraud prevention and detection, and further, the development of best practices regarding fraud prevention and detection. a. Discuss three arguments in favor of the recommendation. Choose the three that you think provide the strongest arguments supporting the recommendation. “Auditor’s need greater obligation to act when there is reasonable suspicion of fraud” This first argument is my opinion entirely valid because when a professional has a higher set standard requirement there is more commitment to act actively to execute his/her duty due to the consequences of not actually exercising professional skepticism. Therefore, an auditor would have to have a higher reasonable assurance to give an unqualified opinion, and he/she would be less tempted to overlook material misstatements and frauds. “It enhances the competitiveness of United States capital markets.” This argument has one of the strongest support for the recommendation because the share of existing cases, evidence, and studies will provide the...

Recomendation

...Dear To Whom It May Concern, My name is; I’m a husband, father, engineer technician, and a combat veteran now serving my country as a civil servant. It is my pleasure to recommend Charise Jones for your generous scholarship that you are offering. I know Charise very well she is my neighbor, and good friend. We have been friends for about 12 years now. Charise is a very dedicated. Charise has proven to me her dedication by her school work habits. No matter what is going on in her life she has demonstrated that her school work comes first. When ever I stop by her house, she is doing homework or studying. Another example is when my wife and I invite her for a camping trip or any other outing; she will not participate until she satisfied with her school work. Charise has a caring heart and loves to help people. Over the years since her mother passed away she has been letting people in need live with her. On several occasions she has moved in single mothers with multiple children in her home and cared for them selflessly. She is currently letting two single mothers with children stay with her until they can get back on their feet. Regardless of her very low income she won’t turn them away. I strongly believe in Charise. I know that she is dedicated to the nursing program and will succeed with out a doubt. She is a very worthy candidate for the generous scholarship that you are offering. I know that she is very grateful for the opportunity to be in the program, and I strongly......

Market Efficiency

...method is widely criticized for lacking power, particularly, when data exhibit non-normality. For the DSEI, BI and CS indices, nevertheless, the results are supported by the powerful rank-based variance-ratio test results. In contrast, the ranks and sign tests do not support the findings of the ADF test for the IA and TSI indices. Specifically, rank and sign-based variance-ratio test results are consistent with the homoscedastic random walk findings based on variance ratio tests. The results in panel B seem to be more consistent under the three different tests. The ADF, Z (q), R1, R2, and S tests largely reject the random walk hypothesis. Three indices under Z^(q), on the other hand, fails to reject this hypothesis. | FUTURE STUDY / RECOMENDATION | The results reveal that returns based on price indices for the IA and TSI series are not weak-form efficient. These indices are composed by domestic companies only. Moreover, due to the effects of home bias, the majority of their floating shares are locally owned. As mentioned earlier, since many individual investors tend to buy and hold on these stocks, they cause thin-trading in the market. This behaviour causes a mismatch between the supply of and demand for a particular stock. Consequently, higher demand for (supply of) these stocks push (pull) their prices up (down). It is, therefore, potentially easy to speculate the direction of prices for these stocks.According to the EMH, stock pricing inefficiencies may be exploited......
