Diversity is defined as a great deal of varieties. Diversity among people is a combination of different cultures, religions, skin tones, disabilities, morals, and values. The great thing about diversity in the United States is that it creates an exciting environment. Diversity enriches the living experience, we learn from those who have different perspectives on life. We accept that we are different and that we can learn cooperatively in the social, economic, and intellectual world. Diversity is valued because it helps to encourage growth, personal and professional (Schaefer, 2012).
The important thing to learn is that as a society we can remember that it’s not about Black, White, Asian, Hispanic or Latino ethnicities but constantly focused on being one with my brothers or my sisters. We could use these words in our everyday lives to face any situation at hand (Kolb 2009). At the end of the day it’s about all our differences, melting into one pot and being stirred only to make a change. “The fusing process goes on as in a blast-furnace; one generation, a single year even—transforms the English, German, the Irish emigrant into an American. Uniform institutions, ideas, language, the influence of the majority, bring us in similar complexion; the individuality of the immigrant, almost even his traits of race and religion, fuse down in the democratic alembic like chips of brass thrown into the melting pot” (Munson-Coan, T). This article though written in 1875 says a significant amount about America. I think by 2050 the U.S. population will be going strong (www.newgeography.com)
In the varying cultures, there are some that believe in ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism is one of the…...

...Team A Weekly Reflection Mohamed Bayon Ricky Harps Dorothea Lancaster-Raine Human Resources Management HRM 531 April 23, 2012 Instructor: Alicia Smith A new challenge faces businesses throughout the United States in today’s economy; it has a powerful impact on our workforce to be productive, competitive and successful. This challenge is diversity in the workplace and how human resources are training and preparing, not only potential future employees, but human resource managers as well, to face this challenge head on. It is important to understand how age, ethnicity, race, gender, religious belief, physical ability, sexual orientation, geographic location and educational background impact the performance and success of any business. The number of women in the workforce has doubled since 1970; the number of white men in the workplace accounts for only 40%, the age of employees has increased; physical disability is no longer a valid reason to deny employment; educational background has become more important to the hiring and retaining process. The issue of diversity is very important; it has a very real impact on productivity and profit. Diversity has the ability to improve or hinder the success of teamwork. Human resource has to improve the efficiency of the diverse work environment. Human resource has to provide procedures and policies to positively influence the diversity in the company. If it is applied......

...Learning team paper PSY/300 1) what are the teams ground rules and guidelines: my expectation for the team members is to first respect, each other we are adults, and be kind to one another nobody knows what the other person is going through, is that having a rough week or if they have a special child, try to communicate as soon as you get text from any of the team members, is by communication that you can show that you are here pulling your weight and nobody has to worry about doing anybody else’s work. 2) Expectation for time management and involvement: I would think that it will go without saying that each and every person, on our team contributes they share of the work that’s is to be done, and for it to be on time so at least one person can review it, edit it, and then produce the final copy, and I would also think that if we ever need to have face-to-face everybody in the team will be available at the same time or would try make an effort at least. 3) Ensuring fair and even contribution and collaboration what strategy will you use to ensure that all team members are contributing and collaborating promptly? I really don’t think that we have to use any strategy everybody on the team as an adult, not a child so I would think they did not have to make a plan strategize, so that team member can contribute and corroborate with the other the team members I...

...Team B University of Phoenix 3157 E. Elwood St. Phoenix, AZ 85034 August 25, 2010 Tyrie Smith University of Phoenix 3157 E. Elwood St. Phoenix, AZ 85034 Good Day, TEAM B WILL CRAFT A MANUAL BASED ON THE LIBRARY SERVICE (SEE ATTACHED) Team B’s choice of creating a manual on the Library did not come without some deliberation. Most of the team’s members had no experience on how to begin the process of creating a manual of any kind. Team B’s reasoning behind choosing the Library is, although it seems like something that wouldn’t be much to cover in a manual, it has much to offer in the way of content and services. Our intentions for selecting the Library are to have enough content to constitute a solid manual, yet be small enough to allow an easy understanding of how to create a manual. Not to say the Library does not have much to offer for a manual. When contemplating between the Library and the Online Learning System (OLS), we believe that the OLS would have more content, which would make it easier to create a hearty manual. After breaking down each of the two candidates, we found that the Library has more to offer than just some databases that hold books and a program that tells its users whether they have plagiarized or not. In the end, our decision is to write the manual over the Library and its many benefits and services to students at University of Phoenix. Thank you for your time, Team B University of Phoenix Library The library consists......

Building an improved foundation and getting back to basics will enable your company to be a permanent business fixture. Our goal is to increase your core competency so that your sales revenues increase and to build you as a focused team that can weather the storms of the business world. SHARPIES have spent several weeks researching your company. We believe the changes will allow you to continue and have successful ventures. We have laid out an analysis covering the main topic areas and have included a plan that will unify various aspects of the company into a stronger and more effective business. CanGo’s organizational structure is that of a hierarchical organization. By definition, a hierarchical organization is one that has different layers when it comes to the people that make up the company (Bryce, 2007). In CanGo you have a CEO and Founder (Elizabeth) who would be on the top of the hierarchy. You then have five directors who report to the......

...Doctor Thompson PSY 370z6 23 January 2015 Social Loafing Our text defines social loafing as “a tendency for people to exert less effort when they pool their efforts toward a common goal than when they are individually accountable.” Social loafing, a term I am new to, but know all too well, is the reason I hate group projects. Well, I take that back, let me clarify, I hate doing group projects when I am placed in a group of people that I know will not try as hard as I. I work with social loafers all day, every day. I call them middle school-ers. Often time teachers put students into groups for projects and I can see the displeasure in so many faces when they don’t get to pic their own partners. I think social loafing, or slacking off happens more often when there is a lack of communication I the group. If someone does not assert themselves as a leader and delegate work and timelines, then standards tend to drop and frustrations rise. On the flip side, I notice that students who are hard workers and care about their grades loaf socially (can I use the term like that?) far less. I feel those students hold themselves to such a high standard, not to mention, they would not want a partner to put some of the load on them, so they don’t do it to others. I can’t say that this is always the case, but most times, it is. I think social loafing is acceptable and sometimes expected in our society. I have a wonderful husband, but, there are definitely aspects of our......

An effective business operation is often based on how efficiently it can manage employee’s performance, job satisfaction, and team’s motivation. It involves minimizing issues that prevent employees from reaching their true potential while maximizing all positive factors that ensure success. In order to be successful, company begins to evaluate to employees’ attitudes, emotions, personalities, and values and how these factors directly impacted on the company goals. Sometimes, these factors are affected by the company’s values and vision. If the company and employee’s values, attitudes, and personalities are aligned in the same direction, employees are likely to have improved performance and increased employees’ satisfaction and motivations. ...Week 2 Learning Team Reflection ACC/561 May 21, 2015 Rick Freeman Week 2 Learning Team Reflection The week two learning team reflection is a discussion focused on the differences and usages for comparative and ratio analysis. The use of multiple sets of data for comparison to detect trends is comparative analysis. Comparative analysis demonstrates trends within an organization. With continued use, Comparative analysis can identify diminishing trends through the use of quarterly data analysis. Ratio analysis also helps to establish trends, and make financial comparisons that assist management in making healthy financial decisions. Also, ratio analysis identifies strengths and weaknesses within an organization that allows management to make strategic decisions that benefit the success of the operation. According to Wiley (2013), “Information from financial statements can be gathered by examining relationships between items on the statements and identifying trends in these relationships” (Chapter 13). The relationships are numerically expressed in percentages or ratios, then trends can be recognized with a comparative analysis. With comparative analysis, the exact same data is provided for two or more different periods so similar data can be compared. Ratio analysis only provides a glimpse, due to the analysis being for a single given period. With comparative analysis a company can determine whether a trend is diminishing or growing from......

...Psychological Disorder Paper Amanda Greco University of Phoenix Psychological Disorder Paper According to The SAGE Glossary of Social and Behavioral Sciences a psychological disorder is defined as “a condition in which a person's thoughts, feelings, or behavior are thought to be in some way dysfunctional.” Psychological disorders are sometimes complex and must meet a certain criteria before being official categorized as a psychological disorder. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, also known as the DSM-IV, includes over 300 manifestations of mental illness also called psychological disorders. Seasonal Affective Disorder According to Medilexicon's medical dictionary, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is: "A depressive mood disorder that occurs at approximately the same time year after year and spontaneously remits at the same time each year." Seasonal Affective Disorder is more prevalent in areas farther away from the equator where there is a lack of sunlight. Individuals who live where seasonal variations of sunlight intensity occur are more likely to develop SAD. Approximately six percent of the U.S. population is affected by SAD and another 14 percent suffer from a milder form of SAD called winter blues. Individuals with a family history of depression or who have family members who suffer from SAD are more likely to suffer from SAD themselves. ...customers are faced with the choice between multiple manufactures products and the Harley-Davidson Moto-Mod, by keeping the price similar and showing the superior quality, customers will look past any competitor and choose the Moto-Mod. Place Harley-Davidson will use the distribution flow from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer, for their product to sell. This flow should give them success because they will have everyone trying to get their name out there for this new product. Although they must pay more to involve the retailers and wholesalers the product will get recognized quickly and the beginning of the life cycle will be fast and promising. Each of the four p’s are equally important to a successful marketing mix but the team can have a great product and without the proper “place” to sell it the product will most likely fail. Harley is a well established company that has put a lot of time and money into picking out perfect place for products, whether new or established and they will do the same going forward in order to be successful. The location of the product is essential in its sales and longevity of its lifecycle. Harley-Davidson has authorized dealers all over the country, and the Moto-Mod will not occupy much of that space so it can avoid adding brick and mortar. Most importantly consumers will be able to customize and build their decal right on Harley-Davidson’s website. This will appeal to consumers because they can take their time and......

The data given to you shows that veneer production is at its lowest point and the cost of recycled material disposal has nearly doubled in the past quarter. On the day your team went to meet the factory superintendent, Max Barath, you saw one of the floor managers, Dave Flores, outside of Max’s office with a bag of ice over his eye. When the team inquired about the injury, Max stated, “It’s not a big deal. The quality control officer, Ken Howk, got upset with Dave and got in a little fight. Don’t worry about it. These two are old high school chums and this kind of thing happens now and then.” Through several weeks of your assessment, your team has noticed troubling occurrences happening in the factory. The factory managers that are located on the top floor are very abrasive and condescending to the people on the floor. There is a definite ‘us versus them’ attitude. There is also a lack of communication. Most of the communication is done on a bulletin board out front. Your team has also noticed that the floor workers are......
