My dear fellow-citizens,

Brothers, sisters and dear children,

I greet you all on this Independence Day.

Today is certainly a day of joy for us. But on this celebration of independence we also feel pain in our hearts that our brothers and sisters in uttrakhand had to face devastation about two months back. Our deepest sympathies are with all the families that suffered loss of life or property. I want to assure the people of Uttarakhand today that the whole country stands with them in this moment of crisis. Our government is working with all the resources at its command to rehabilitate those whose houses have been destroyed and rebuild damaged infrastructure.

Our army, paramilitary forces and numerous officers and staff of the Central and State governments worked in difficult conditions in partnership with the common people to perform an outstanding task in providing relief to those who were stranded. We especially pay homage to the officers and men of the Air Force, ITBP and NDRF who sacrificed their lives to save others.

We are also deeply pained that we lost the submarine, INS Sindurakshak in an accident yesterday. Eighteen brave sailors are feared to have lost their lives. The accident is all the more painful because the Navy had recently achieved two major successes in the form of its first nuclear submarine, INS Arihant and the aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.

We pay homage to the brave hearts we have lost. We also congratulate the Navy on its successes.

Brothers and Sisters,

We achieved independence in 1947 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. If we look at our subsequent journey, we would find that our country has seen major changes every ten years.

In the decade beginning 1950, India took its first steps as a democratic republic under the leadership of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. We established institutions like the Atomic Energy Commission, Planning…...

...Journal #1 My speech wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it could have been better if I put more time into getting more information from my partner. The body paragraphs needed to give more information and go into more detail. Although it wasn’t that bad of a speech giving the thought that we met up for about thirty minutes. Back in high school when someone was giving a speech, we, the audience always tried to make them laugh, or simply just didn’t pay attention to the speaker and did something else. Now the audience was paying attention and being respectful which calmed me down when giving my speech. As the speaker I needed to be more enthusiastic while giving my speech, because how is the audience going to be interested if I don’t even seem interested. I noticed very few people glancing at their phones or just with a blank look in their face; this made me relax a little more for some reason. Even though I could have had more information and gone more into detail, my speech did flow from the thesis statement to my conclusion paragraph. I was getting more nervous as the names kept getting closer to mine, once my partner Aldo, brought me up when he gave his speech, which calmed my nervousness down a bit because it wasn’t that bad being in front of the class and having everyone’s eyes looking at you. Once my turn came to speak, I took deep breaths as I made my way to the front of the classroom, and once there I paused, and took one last deep breath, and......

...and represent each and every one of you, a person that will put in 110% is the type of person you need in serving as your CCASC President. Good morning delegates my name is Dion Anderson, and I am a junior at Westlake High school. I believe that I am that type of person and I am ready to step into the position, to serve as your CCASC President. Gandhi once said “be the change you wish to see in world”. I started to be that change at a very young age, by baking cookies for the elderly to restoring parks for my community. I had the great opportunity to be a part of a life changing experience called HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) which built and shaped me to be the great leader I am today, I don’t think I would be up here giving this speech if I hadn’t gone to HOBY. I have been a part of SGA since 8th grade and fell in love with it ever since. I got an award for doing more than the president that year. Now I would like to share with you why I want to take on the position of CCASC president. I am dedicated, passionate, and persistent to the point where I get things done. I have a strong will, and I always follow through on my promises. I’m a natural leader, and I’m extremely good at fundraising. We have had several fundraising events at Westlake high school that I took part in that were a success. I have many fresh, new ideas that I will bring to CCASC. As president, I will communicate regularly with all of the high school and middle school student government, by sending......

...Homework: persuasive Speech Self-Assessment May 3, 2014 The topic nursing was appropriate for my audience. Even though the majority of my audience. My specific purpose in the speech was to persuade my audience about the benefits of nursing and the choices in career path that they can choose. I feel that it was achieved successfully in the amount of time I had. Additionally, my thesis statement was also clearly which I am sure we can all relate to that you will never forget the way someone makes you feel even if you forget their names clearly stated. The speech was well organized from beginning to end. The major functions of the speech introduction were accomplished by initially getting the attention of the audience although The conclusion reinforced the audience’s understanding of the information presented and was tied to the central idea of the benefits of nursing Adequate research was conducted. There were four APA citations. All language presented was pronounced correctly and non-technical terms were used for overall understanding. The presentation of my speech was not rushed. However, somewhere along my notes my cards were mixed up, however I continued and just diverted to the card I should be reading from. It was a bit difficult to maintain my concentration but I kept the flow. This is evident in the review of my speech where I can be seen looking at my notes. Appropriate pauses, pitch, tone and rate were used throughout my speech. This was evident during...

Tools for Pm

...Despite this enormous interest in projects and project management practices, success rates in many industries are at alarmingly low levels. In addition, bad news about high-profile projects continues to dominate the headlines – in both the public and private sectors (Venkataraman & Pinto, 2008). A lot of this bad news comes from the PM (Project Manager) not being educated on all the tools at his/her disposal to be better prepared to prevent the project from failing. In order for anything to succeed, it must have a strong foundation and the foundation for project management to succeed the PM should start with a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure). The work breakdown structure is said to be (if not the most important) one of the most important tools a project manager should possess. The WBS provides the basic processes needed in order to start the project such as the development of the schedule, budgeting, cost control, resource distribution, earned value analysis (EVA), and a host of other aspects available to PM to ensure the project starts out on the right track. The WBS is a hierarchy diagram of all the project activities in ordered to give the PM a visual of what should be completed and at what time frame it should be completed in. An example of using a WBS correctly would be building a installing a playground set for a school. The first thing listed on the work breakdown structure would be the project’s name and because installing a playground can have so many......

...favorite part about being a member of such a great committee was the friendships I made. Now this can be explained by both friendships throughout my school and friendships throughout the world. Due to my leadership in the committee I was able to become friends with a lot of different people throughout the committee and in my school. Being in charge of the committee and setting the meetings and activities everyone grew to become my friend and help me in every way. Starting off as a freshman and speaking in front of the whole school for one of our first rallies made this a top for my experience in the committee. This showed who I was as a member of the committee. I was even stopped in the halls asking, “are you the one who gave that great speech?” or “great job out there, you did great!” It was the best feeling in the world! That lead me the conventions I was invited to and all the friends I made there. As you go through the conventions you meet people and then get to enjoy that whole trip with them. As of today we have social networks and this helps me keep in contact with these people. The best way to keep in touch with people. I am very thankful and proud that I was a part of such an amazing committee. I learned more throughout this committee about leadership, respect, and how to care for others. This taught me how to be the woman I am today. Throughout my life I still try to be a leader to everyone that is involved in my life. I am there to help and care for anyone who......

The topic of his speech is for freedom for the Negro, the Emancipation Proclamation. He is trying to stop discrimination for those of color. The facts and explanations that support his arguments are Constitution and Declaration of Independence are two very important explanations of the freedom all men even black. Civil Rights are a good example of his speech. Martin Luther King Jr. delivery of this speech was very good. He not only emphasized with loudness but you could hear the trembling in his voice when he would say something that was of great importance and he would raise his voice even higher. He was very enthusiastic when speaking of the freedom that the people should get and how some day he hoped the children would be able to walk the streets just as white people were able to. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded people throughout his speech that “I Have a Dream” he wasn’t talking only of himself but for all blacks in our nation. He emphasized what he wanted to see some day. His hopes and dreams for a better country. I believe in this speech he did well throughout, there really isn’t just one section or another that I liked better it was all wonderful....

...HoC but failed to win overall majority * Labour negotiated a coalition with LibDems and later the LibDems negotiated with both main parties for a coalition * Labour and LibDem did not make an overall majority * Gordon Brown later resigned and advised the Queen to ask Cameron to form a government either as a minority or in coalition with LibDems. * Cameron accepted and formed coalition with LibDem ‘The Government’ 25 members are members of the HoL and 90 are MPs. MPs that are from the party that is in government ate not members of government! They are known as backbenchers and the members of government are known as frontbenchers. All members of government are appointed by the PM. The cabinet (22-23 members) meet regularly. Ministerial selection The PM must weigh up the qualities of individuals against the political consequences of appointing them. Qualities that ideal ministers should possess: * Must be politically reliable * Must have potential * Should share their views * Managerial skills needed Under coalition * How many cabinet posts do they have each? * Must discuss whom to elect together Other forms of government * Minority government – party forms a government without a parliamentary majority. Can never rely on getting legislation/financial budgets passed. It must therefore try to build a coalition of support from other parties. Therefore minority governments cannot attempt to do anything radical. ...

...Speech 1 “A Time for Choosing” by Ronald Reagan 1. Ronald Reagan gained the audience attention by his opening statement “ I’ve been permitted to choose my own words and ideas” 2. The topic was A Time for Choosing, it was a presidential candidate speech concerning the upcoming election which was going to be held in a few week. It explained his standpoint and views on the hot topics such as the war and the economy 3. Ronald Regan stated that he once was a democrat but felt that the issues facing the nation required him to cross the line. He is quoted as saying” those who have the most have did the least to prevent it from happening”. He stated that freedom is fragile. The government doesn’t control things without controlling people. 4. Ronald Regan was an excellent speaker. His speech flowed well. There were times he used jokes to lighten the mood as well as a way to relate to the listeners. When he was making appoint his voice became more stern and serious. 5. He transitioned into his conclusion by quoting Alexander Hamilton 6. I feel he did well by using stories; for example, the story about the Cuban who said that he had a place to go for freedom, but we as Americans have no place else to go for peace 7. The only improvements I think should have been made would have been not using the names of people for joke examples Speech 2 “Acres of Diamonds” by Russell H Conwell 1. The speaker got the audience attention by the tone of speech and he......

...The Longest Day, the Shortest Speech http://vsotd.com/featured-speech/longest-day-shortest-speech#sthash.5hXfbsUi.dpuf "The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do." Address by Dwight D. Eisenhower Written in case of failure of D-Day Invasion, Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 In my analysis of this speech, I have found that the speech fails to adhere to the guidelines of informative speech. Although it meets a few of the guidelines, the speech overall is unsuccessful in the essence of providing the vital information needed to make it a worthy informative speech. In it’s opening sentence, the speech violates the guideline “Don’t be too technical”. The speaker’s use of words such as “landings” and “foothold” are technical jargons that the ordinary audience would not be able to fully comprehend. His speech is more directed towards the military savvy audience than the common citizen and leaves a lot to be desired. The speaker could have improved his speech by using less specialized words. Although sometimes, it becomes difficult to put military terms in easy to understand language, the speaker could have used words such as “attack” in lieu of “landings” and “control” instead of “foothold”. This would have made it much easier for the audience to understand and relate to the scene. Also, in the opening sentence, the speaker violates another guideline “Don’t overestimate what the audience knows” about the topic. He refers to......

...Introduction: We’ve all heard the phrase, “a man’s best friend’ at least a few thousand times in our life time. When we say that, we are referring to the cutest most loyal animals of them all, the dog. For our group speech we decided that volunteering at a Pitbull shelter was just the right thing to do that fit us all perfectly. Saving Grace Pitbull Rescue has a history of helping dogs, what we did there was very influential and what they do for all those dogs is truly amazing. To start off with the breed “Pitbull” has a very bad reputation anywhere that they go. In the 1980s, the breed began to develop a terrible reputation. It's not clear where the cycle started, but at some point, Pit bulls became the dog breed of choice for the criminal element, or those looking for dogs to threaten, guard, intimidate and generally look scary. This led to many owners abusing their Pit bulls into becoming vicious, mean attack dogs (mom.me, 2014). One thing that I found that was very true was this quote from Cesar Millan, “Aggression is not a breed thing. It's a state of mind, and it comes from how the human is with the dog. There are four levels of energy, regardless of the breed: low, medium, high, very high. The idea is to get a dog in your same level or lower than you (BrainyQuote.com, 2015)”. In the next few moments you will learn the history of saving grace from Jonas, what we did such as the services we provided from Danny, and finally what they do, that being the services that......
