...English Essay Rewrite Compare and contrast Text A and Text B Text A- Satirical Elegy on the death of a late famous general Text B- An obituary of William Davidson Both texts are similar, in the fact that they both are reminiscence on a person’s life after their death. Many differences, however, can be seen throughout the poem written by Jonathan Swift and the Obituary. The opening of both Texts is contradictory as Text A opens with a series of exclamations, ‘His Grace! Impossible! What, dead!, ’which gives an impression of surprise at the death but not a sense of grief is aroused. On the other hand, Text B embarks with a compliment ‘was in his element at the heart of the action’; both openings give a clear implication of the withdrawal of the rest of the text. The structure of both are also at a contrast, Text A is an elegy so Is a farewell to the dead but the fact that Swift writes a satire elegy therefore removes the traditional aspect of an elegy. Text B is an Obituary, but although also a farewell to the dead, it is read at a remembrance or a funeral so is written with aspiration to honour William Davidson and not undermine him in the way that Text A is. Text A is written with a sarcastic and mocking tone, through the poem it is highlighted that the general has earned the disrespected he has received through the mention also of his failures with use of the parallelism of ‘Nor widows’ sigh, nor orphans’ tears’ which gives the impression that no grief is......

David Trobisch and David Parker on the Origin of the New Testament the Historical Jesus, and How Manuscripts Can Reveal What Texts Conceal

...Origin of the New Testament, the Historical Jesus, and How Manuscripts Can Reveal What Texts Conceal Tom Dykstra I grew up with a picture of Paul traveling through Asia and Europe, founding congregations, counseling and teaching the men and women who had given their life to Jesus. If he could not visit them, he sent letters. When Paul died, his letters were kept as treasures. Each church that had received one of his letters saved it, had it read during worship services, and exchanged copies of the letter with other congregations close by. Later the congregations tried to complete their collection. But this view does not match the uniformity of manuscript evidence. --David Trobisch 1 It is even more remarkable that attempts to reconstruct the supposed document 'Q' (the lost collection used by both Matthew and Luke postulated by those who argue that Matthew and Luke are independent) use text-critical terminology to describe their activities. However, since all they are doing is making selections from a twentieth-century printed text, which does not even presume to provide confidently the text of the four-Gospel collection, never mind that of the independent first-century texts, this use of language must be dismissed as illusory. --David Parker 2 Modern scholarship has produced detailed biographies of Paul, massive multi-volume inquiries into “the historical Jesus,” and mountains of exegetical literature that claims to extract the author’s meaning from each word of each New......

To Text or Not to Text

...To text or not to text Text messaging has become a convenient way to communicate or maybe an obsession. Texting as is it is commonly referred to today, allows individuals to literally to express their thoughts, information, and maintain relationships with the tips of their fingers. The use of the text message has redefined the way in which our society communicates with each other. Would you believe that 11% of people have sent a text message during sex! Wow! This trend seems to have become an addiction. Text messages are usually read within 5 minutes of being received and responded to instantly. Though this function has many benefits, it has created several negative problems as well. The cost to ones safety as well as the general public has made texting a highly debated subject. I prefer to just pick up the phone and make a call. It’s quick, it’s easy and if you don’t get an answer, you just leave a message or call back later. Thought of as a convenient way of communication, texting with technology advances faster than etiquette has contributed to the erosion of our society. The power of text messaging is one that has redefined how the world communicates and those that choose to use it have a responsibility to use it correctly. Text messaging allows for individuals to maintain person relationships for those that do not have the ability to see one another on a regular basis. As a study showed, the average teenager uses the text message for about 54% of their interactions......

...in when implementing their new supply chain system; as the company received a lot of bad publicity and decreased their reputation. The document covers as to "what went wrong and why" and "what can be learned" from a Sainsbury directors perspective. Sainsbury and the market competition Sainsbury is committed to the quality of service of its label; because of this the competition of their rivals - Tesco, ASDA, etc - are all trying to gather the highest percentage of market share. In 1992, Sainsbury lost its cutting edge and the competition had started to make ground. In 2002 the competition in the UK grocery industry was altered. Over the years, Tesco has evolved to become the new clear cut market leader, with 26% market share. While Sainsbury's is second in the market share with 17%. In relation to supply chain systems, a benchmark study revealed a significant age difference in systems and warehousing infrastructure between Sainsbury's and its best-in-class competitors. The idea was to secure second place in the market share, breaking away from third place. Reasons for Sainsbury's new supply chain system As a result of the new study, the company came under immense pressure to both increase growth and improve the efficiency if the supply chain. In the late 2000, Directors and CEO's of Sainsbury's top management decided to launch the new supply chain system. The supply chain system was designed and built to cover four major principles in the new supply chain strategy:......
