Subject: Proposal for Course Project

This memo gives the details for my proposed course project for Communication 2200.
Problem/Innovation

With gas prices at an all time high during this year, a lot of individuals are looking for alternatives to gasoline powered transportation. Many people are turning towards diesel and electric powered cars in order to save money. Some larger engine automobiles such as V8 cylinder engines get as low as 12-15 miles per gallon.

I have decided to analyze three different highly recommended, fuel saving automobiles. By researching how much it will cost to buy and maintain three different automobiles, I can determine which automobile will be the best purchase for me. I am interested in this subject not only because I am a student in ASCC’s Automotive program, but also because I am considering purchasing a new vehicle. My family is a one-car family, and the vehicle I purchase will be our family’s primary form of transportation.
Audience

My audience is the average American car buyer. Average Americans are more interested than ever in fuel economy. They want to know if the best type of vehicle to purchase for transportation – a gasoline, diesel, or electric powered automobile.
Topics to be Investigated

In this study I plan to cover these points.

1. Which car is the best to use and why? What are the benefits/negatives of each type? 2. What is the average purchase price for each type of car (gasoline, diesel, electric)? 3. How much it will cost to power each car per day, month, per year if driven a specific number of miles? 4. What kind of maintenance is required for each type of car? 5. What will the total cost be for using and maintaining each type of car for twelve months?

...Luis Cubilla ENG/221 Technical Writing Fundamentals Zachery Koppelmann January 28 2013 The organization of the memo from Hugh to Abram is partially organized. Hugh does not stray from his subject much and appears to stay on point with what he wants to address. The letter has an average format with a standard intro body and conclusion along with a signature which should be included in all e-mails. The clarity however leaves little to be desired for but at least Hugh admits that he does not understand his own employee or his friend. Hugh talks about how he was advised not to use certain enterprise software’s with by his friend and how he could not understand much of how the situation should be handled or how he should move forward with his business plans. The writing style is very unprofessional; it almost seems more like Hugh is writing to a friend rather than a co-worker or colleague. There are no real formalities Abram is only addressed by name once and the overall feel looks like something a brother would write to his family member. The memo seemed to be a little disrespectful in some ways. First Hugh is talking business matters with a friend rather than Abram, secondly it appears Hough’s friend is providing the basic of warnings that any programmer should look for but Hugh appears to be leaning towards his friend’s advice rather than Abram who as Hough states “respects his professional approach”. To add further insult to injury Abram has been asked to not...

...SUBJECT: Important Risk Analysis: Assessment of Audit Risk The objective of this memo is to introduce the financial position of Hormel Foods Corp. and provide the general assessment of the company’s audit risk. The overall assessment of risk of material misstatement is moderate. This memo presents the potential high-risk areas as followings. Revenue Recognition GM’s major sources of revenue is manufacturing and marketing branded consumer foods sold through retail stores. It also supply branded and unbranded food products to the foodservice and commercial baking industries. The competition and seasonality is critical factors in estimating the revenue of the company. Additionally, estimate of coupon redemption, product returning and uncollectible sales on credit sales need to be measured accurately. The risk of material misstatement is high in this account. The considerable amount of estimates required to measure accounts such as sales revenue, and account receivable, which lead to a high risk assessment. Moreover, the need to use estimates varying on the operating location, for example, constitutes revenue recognition as a high-risk audit area. GM’s key customers are grocery stores, mass merchandisers, membership stores, natural food chains, drug, dollar and discount chains, commercial and noncommercial foodservice distributors and operators, restaurants, and convenience stores. ...shed a new light on my reading experience. I found myself thinking about the author himself and his thought process while writing the article in his office chair in some sky rise with a killer view in New York City. It made me wonder if I will read like a writer every time I read from now on. It amazed me how one essay can change the way someone can look at a piece of writing. Reading Wagner’s article on forbes.com gave me confidence to use these techniques in my own writings in the near future. Writings like business proposals, emails and interactions with other companies and industries, and even memos like the one you are reading now. Immediately I knew you all would prosper from this information. As industrialists you will be making the big bucks because of an education you dedicated yourself to, but just because you have a degree does not mean you are done learning. That is why I encourage you all to read Bunn’s Essay, which I will attach, a link to this memo. If we take pride in simple strategies of how we read and write as businesspeople, leaders, and more importantly as humans then we are setting ourselves up for success. I say “we, us” and “ourselves”, because this information is just as new to me as it will be to all of you. If you have any questions please email me, if not I will see you all at the meeting on Thursday....

Proposal Memo

...    Memo To:La Verne Donelson, Instructor From:John Doe, Student Date:3/22/2010 Re:Proposal for the Addition of a Kids Day Camp Program at Red Rocks Country Club Purpose The purpose of this proposal is to suggest development of a Kids Day Camp program at Red Rocks Country Club to enhance the current member experience and attract new members.   Summary Red Rocks Country Club is a private organization whose amenities include:  an Olympic-size pool, an 18-hole golf course, a full-service restaurant, a private fishing lake and access to a host of hiking trails.   Their vision is “A sought after, private club committed to our unique friendliness and natural landscape”.  Their website markets the club as “A different kind of country club” and “a family and female friendly Club”.  Red Rocks offers a variety of golf programs for men and women:  Men’s golf leagues, women’s golf leagues, couples tournaments and Interclub play events.  For kids ages 10 and up, they also have a Junior Golf program.     However, parents of young children often do not have the opportunity to golf together.  For both the man and woman to play, they are faced with finding private childcare on an ad-hoc basis.   In the summertime on a weekend day, this is not always an easy task.  What often happens is that the man utilizes the golf course and the woman stays home with the kids, which can lead to a “lopsided” perception of the club’s value for the family.  I am proposing that Red......

...| Parker Benson Editing | Memo To: | Robert Warner | From: | | Date: | September 7, 2015 | Re: | Use of Body Cameras on Law Enforcement Personnel | | | Introduction: There is a huge problem regarding law enforcement personnel in today’s day and age. This problem stems from the term ‘police brutality’. Unfortunately, the term is being tossed around at any applicable chance, and the media doesn’t always help mediate between the two sides of the argument. I am addressing this memo to Parker Benson’s article acquisition editor, Robert Warner, in hopes to gain approval to pursue a piece recommending the use of body cameras on all law enforcement personnel. I will be sure to address every angle of the argument and tip-toe along sensitive boundaries. Audience Analysis: The article will not only be read by all of our loyal and dedicated readers, it will appeal to a large demographic in today’s society. Police brutality is a very hot topic in the media; therefore a piece on the recommendation of body cameras for law enforcement personnel is sure to attract a tremendous range of readers. Not only will it appeal to our dedicated readers and those who follow the media, it may appeal to those who have family or friends who are members of law enforcement, or even those who have experienced or been affected by police brutality. ...Memo To: Representative Howard Hughes From: Date: Re: Panel discussion on funding Medicare crisis Message: Below please find outline of current Medicare cost concerns as well as some history on the program as well as some plan options to cutting overall costs. Medicare is facing a major financial crisis. The federal government subsidizes medical care for more than 45 million elderly and disabled Americans through Medicare. Medicare is the third-largest federal program after Social Security and defense, and it will cost taxpayers about $430 billion in fiscal year 2010. Medicare is one of the fastest-growing programs in the federal budget, with spending likely to double over the next decade and to surpass Social Security spending by 2028. Numerous studies suggest that about one-third of Medicare spending is wasted. [ (Edwards, 2010) ] Many elderly people may believe that Medicare is an insurance plan as they pay into the cost and are charged for co-pays. Although it’s been known as welfare program, led by the government there is controversy regarding this. AARP Vise President, Joyce Rogers stated AARP is focused on protecting Social Security and Medicare for the millions of beneficiaries who have paid into the systems over their working lives. Rogers’ statement follows: “Medicare is not a welfare program. Seniors pay into Medicare their entire working lives based on the promise that they’ll have secure health coverage when they retire. Applying a means......
