Power point question

How does Kruschev’s message differ from that of Stalin in substance and tone? What is the significance?

When repression hit the Soviet Union, millions of Soviet political prisoners were released from Gulag labor camps, due to Nikita Khrushchev's policies of de-Stalinization and peaceful coexistence with other nations.

. Khrushchev denounced Stalin in "The Secret Speech" at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party, then banned the pro-Stalinists during his power struggle. The Thaw initiated irreversible transformation of the entire Soviet society by opening up for some economic reforms and international trade, educational and cultural contacts, etc; it was a chain of steps to free people from fear and dictatorship under Stalin. Although the power struggle between liberals and conservative pro-Stalinists never stopped, it eventually weakened the Soviet Communist Party.

Khrushchev's Thaw allowed some freedom of information in the media, arts and culture; international festival, foreign films, uncensored books, and new forms of entertainment on the emerging national TV, ranging from massive parades and celebrations to popular music and variety shows, satire and comedies. Such political and cultural updates all together helped liberate minds and changed the public’s view of the government.

So many people took to Khruschev’s policies because unlike Stalin he was less cruel and suspicious of his own people. He had a more peaceful approach to things and worked with those on his side. Rather than being a ruler he acted as a leader. Because of his approach to rid Stalin’s old ways and all of pro-Stalinists, people were in favor of him which means they were for him instead of scared of…...

...The word "love" can have a variety of related but distinct meanings in different contexts. Often, other languages use multiple words to express some of the different concepts that English relies mainly on "love" to encapsulate; one example is the plurality of Greek words for "love." Cultural differences in conceptualizing love thus make it doubly difficult to establish any universal definition.[10] Although the nature or essence of love is a subject of frequent debate, different aspects of the word can be clarified by determining what isn't love. As a general expression of positive sentiment (a stronger form of like), love is commonly contrasted with hate (or neutral apathy); as a less sexual and more emotionally intimate form of romantic attachment, love is commonly contrasted with lust; and as an interpersonal relationship with romantic overtones, love is sometimes contrasted with friendship, although the word love is often applied to close friendships. Fraternal love (Prehispanic sculpture from 250–900 A.D., of Huastec origin). Museum of Anthropology in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. When discussed in the abstract, love usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience felt by a person for another person. Love often involves caring for or identifying with a person or thing (cf. vulnerability and care theory of love), including oneself (cf. narcissism). In addition to cross-cultural differences in understanding love, ideas about love have also changed greatly over time...

...Love is a word with many definitions. Although, Webster defines love as a strong feeling of attraction resulting from sexual desire; enthusiasm or fondness. But to me love is not just a feeling, but it is the way that you treat the ones you care for. You should treat the ones you love so considerately through your actions they'll know you care and love them. Love in my eyes, is making that sacrifice for someone, knowing that you might regret it sooner or later. Love is how you make another person feel when you are in their presence. Many people show or express their love for someone in many and different ways. To me love is in the actions not the words. The true meaning of love like what is the meaning of life is one of the questions that will remain unsolved forever. But right now the love is a great thing that should be treasured forever and valued as a important part in your life because it will effect all relationships, romantic or not. Love has not changed at all over the course of history and this makes it the most important emotion anyone could have. Most people take love for granted and worry about it always being there when they need it the most.      Family love is another type of love we can think about. It is the love we use between our intermediate family and our extended family members. Family love is said to be blind, only to show that love can be shown to anyone no matter condition or problems one can have. Of course we all know about the good times, hard......

I am a firm believer that love does exist. Love means that deep intense emotion of affection, along with acceptance regardless of any flaws, and a safe place in one’s heart. Love is subjectively applied in differnent relationships. That is my interpretation of what love is. I will explain love between my six year old duaghter Aubrey, and myself. She has come to my bed in the middle of the night knowing mommy loves her and will keep her safe from anything. My examples of love will contain imagery of every day occurences that she and I have had. As well as referencing theological versus to really help her grasp the concept of what love is. I will aslo incorprate the variations of love with a child, the love of God, and love with a spouse. Aubrey’s counter argument is going to be if all these examples are true, than how come you and my dad do not love anymore? Aubrey: Mommy please wake up, begged Aubrey as she slid into the right side of the bed. Cindy: Are you ok Aubrey, go back to your bed. Aubrey: No! Please I am really scared can’t I just stay her tonight with you pretty please mommy excalimed, Aubrey. Cindy: Sure, Aubrey you want mommy to protect you from whatever is scary in your room? ...forms of love. Some are powerful and demand attention while others are more subtle and just below the surface. In recent years, love has drifted from these subtle levels to the more noticeable ones, namely passion. In my opinion, our society downplays the real necessity for genuine affection. By this I mean that we, as a society, spend so much time focusing on only one level of love (passion) that we tend to neglect and not recognize the need for closeness and trust (friendship). Love is an all-encompassing emotion that can be powerful and demanding, but also rewarding and pleasurable. What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies. So many legends surround this emotion, from the goddess Athena and Helen of Troy to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved. *-(* George Sand *)*- Love is the greatest gift we can ever hope to give or receive. Love is the one thing that can overcome so many of the difficult times that we are faced with in life. Love is so powerful - it can turn frowns into smiles. It can help mend the most broken heart. ...Essay 1: WHATS LOVE Everybody has felt it at one time or another, be it for a person, pet, or even a non-living object. That feeling is love. Love is felt in different intensities; it may consume your whole being, or perhaps it’s just a little crush. Some people search for what seem their whole lifetimes for love, whereas others may seem to fall in and out of love on a regular basis. Of course, here we are talking about people. We can love many things, but the love between two people is unique and special. Love is rarely defined because everyone experiences it differently. What one person thinks is love, another may think is infatuation or vice versa. How does one know he or she is in love? How is it possible to distinguish between the love of romance and the love shared between friends? In order to understand love, we need to first understand the two major types of love: romantic love and friendship love. People often define romantic love based on its difference from friendship love. Would you kiss your friend? Perhaps, but it is not necessarily the things you do with your romantic partner that makes your love romantic. Romantic love is often confused with infatuation because it is so allconsuming. Romantic lovers are usually on each other’s minds. A person may make decisions based on his or her romantic partner, such as whether or not to move to a different province for a job and leave his or her partner behind. People make large life decisions based on their romantic......

...Forrest Williams Dr. Mogford Definition Essay 3/17/14 Love Love is something that could be seen in multiple points of view, it just depends on the eye of the beholder. For a few, love could be purely passionate, or just plain sexual. For others, authentic love is completely unrestricted and only truly exists between family members, or between people and an immortal. And for some people, love is effortless, ever changing, and everywhere, and is felt for family, friends, partners, and pets. Though none of these people would be considered right or wrong, there is one thing that is certain: love is the most dominant force in the entire universe. Love happens between two people in any respect, whether they’re married or it’s a mutual relationship, boyfriend and girlfriend, straight or gay, young or old, love is felt in all varieties and by everyone. Marriages and partnerships are often built when people find one another normally after they first meet; these relationships can go as deep or as simple as sharing philosophical or religious beliefs. Then there’s love between people who may find that they like the same films, books or music. Love often relies on some sort of “chemistry”, or that somewhat hairy, tingly feeling that you feel in your stomach once you think or come in contact with this special person. Hormones raging, feeling overwhelmed with passion are just some of the feelings from that inter love felt through your bodies “chemistry”. Some people feel the butterflies...

...Love is something that means very different things to different people. For some, love can be purely romantic, or even purely sexual. For others, real love is utterly unconditional and only truly exists between family members, or between people and a deity. And for some people, love is fluid, ever changing, and everywhere, and is felt for family, friends, partners, pets, and even inanimate objects, dead artists, and fictional characters. None of these people would be right or wrong, but one thing is certain: love is the most powerful force in the entire universe. Between partners of any description, be they married or cohabiting, boyfriend and girlfriend, straight or gay, young or old, love is a relationship of mutual understanding and respect. Marriages and partnerships are often built on common ground that people find when they first meet; this can be as deep as sharing religious, philosophical or religious beliefs, or as simple as finding that you love the same film, book, or band. This kind of love is often reliant on some kind of ‘chemistry’: that strange feeling that they give you in the pit of your stomach, and the feeling that nothing in the world is more important to you than enjoying the moment you’re in together. Some people feel that they experience love at first sight, where they know from the minute they set eyes on each other that they want to to be with that person, but something built on common interests and understanding must be stronger. A parent’s love......

...Jackson Brown, Jr. that goes, “Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important that your own.” To put it differently, it is when a person suffers long for someone you find yourself loving him or her. However, in the dictionary, love was only described through the intensity of the feeling. It does not explain fully what to experience inside ‘love’. Nevertheless, it all arrives in some point. Love is vulnerable, unconditional and a decision. Love means to embrace vulnerability. Vulnerability means capable of being hurt physically or emotionally. Love involves both but often times, it is the feelings that is involve. Usually, when a person loves someone, he or she tends to do everything for him or her. Even if it means getting hurt, they will still continue. Being vulnerable means accepting everything is going to happen, anything is going to happen. It sounds scary but people become this kind of people because of love without even them knowing. It won’t be a weakness because this will be their strength, they will gain courage. They will face obstacles even if it looks like they are not going to survive. It is what makes them strong. Vulnerability makes its beauty visible. It is like a balloon, it is fragile but it looks so much better if it is seen and not hidden and if it is felt and not absent. It exhibits its beauty in its own way. That’s what love becomes when it’s vulnerable. The beauty of the relationship becomes noticeable. Love means to give everything......

...marriage are stripped from same-sex couples, not giving the equal right to be with the person they love and care for and what to build a life together with. Love is love, why should it be based on who you are in love with? When looking a same-sex marriage, I wonder if a person is making the choice to be with someone of the same sex, or if it is all they know and feel is right for them. Would there be a connection with who you love and how the brain works, after some research and watching a video by Helen Fisher, an Anthropologist and preeminent researcher in the field of human affection from Rutgers University I was able to better understand how the brain connects with love. Helen speaks about how she feels the brain works when you’re madly in love, the brain can tell so much about love, how it can be divided into three systems and how each systems leads to different stages of a relationship. Love starts deep in the ventral tegmental area, the hypothalamus, and the nucleus accumbens. She talks about the reward system, a system that receives messages from the brain rather it is a craving, an addiction, even an interacted with a person. It can simply be an attraction, an attachment or a sexual relationship. Within her research there is a starting point for love, and it begins with the caudate nucleus which sits deep in the center of our brains. There are different stages of love each have a particular role with the relationship progression, when looking at how a......

Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him. What is Love? I know this question exists in each human being's mind including myself. If not it is still waiting to be discovered deeply in your heart. What do I think of love? For me, I believe love is a priceless diamond, because a diamond has thousands of reflections, and each reflection represents a meaning of love. With love I can accept a person's imperfections without any condition, and able to transfer the way I love myself to another person who I am fancy at. With love I can have the power against loneliness, sadness, and illness, and to be able to change them into my happiness. As well as, having a key to open my heart to look at this world without a mask, to show people who I really am. But on the other hand, my love cannot be a substitute for anything, which means nothing can be substituted for my love. It also means those reflections of the......
