Book Report on the Leadership Pill

...peoples’ stories warrant justifiable consideration, it is questionable to me as to whether the explanations of others are the truth. This is a difficult topic for me, and I believe that it would be difficult for most people. I did not realize that this book entailed actually taking a drug. This totally weirded me out. According to this book, it seems as though middle management is a bit ignored as long as they do their job acceptably. The Leadership Pill was a good book and not only made me think, it made me learn. These people wonder whether or not such a pill would be a miracle or a hindrance. It made me smile a bit when it spoke of its various hypothetical drug interactions. How nice it would be to simply be able to take a Leaderhip Pill, and then have everything work well. However, some people like me have a weird fear of drugs and would be afraid to take anything, well, at all. ( I would hate to see myself as a resistant old person. I hate taking my vitamins as it is. ) I really am glad that I was able to take this class. There are so many that I am required to take that just take the joy out of my life and make me question my sanity. I do not understand how anyone could have any sort of passion about finance. I often wonder if there is anyone else who wanted a marketing masters but was forced to take this path instead. I am so thankful for the occasional person I can believe in and with whom I can connect. ...

Interpersonal Skills for Leaders

...(Assertive,2011) Extraversion: Extraverts are more likely to want to assume a leadership role and participate in group activities. This trait has been recognized for its contribution to leadership effectiveness because it is helpful for leaders to be outgoing in most situations. This list is extensive and a single leader is certainly not expected to hold all these traits. In fact, in most cases the situation will have an impact on the blend of personality traits that the leader expresses. However, good leaders should at least acknowledge the benefits of each personality trait and be knowledgeable of them. The essay also tries to find out various effects of charismatic leadership on the organization. While mentioning the positive effects of the charismatic leadership, it also investigates the “dark” side of the charismatic leadership. After reading the essay the readers are expected to have gained enough familiarity with this kind of leadership and at the end of the essay I would like to put forth a couple of questions regarding charismatic leadership which have remained unanswered after reading the material I have cited. Introduction Any type of organization runs successfully when it is piloted by a skillful and influential leader. While leaders motivate their followers, it is not the only thing leaders can do. A good leader can structure the organization in the way he wants. He represents the culture of the organization and most importantly, it has been observed that effective leaders posses a capacity to increase the productivity of the organization. ...responsibility strategy), and Chapters 10-12 in diagnosing Starbucks situation and deciding how well CEO Howard Schultz and Starbucks management are doing in crafting and executing a winning strategy for Starbucks. All things considered, we think the Starbucks case is probably best used as a “core” or “anchor” case in your strategy execution module, after students have been exposed to the material in Chapters 10-12 The content of the case makes it a good vehicle for giving students insight into the ins and outs of executing an ambitious strategy to become a global powerhouse. Starbucks is a splendid example of a company that has made the transition from a small, entrepreneurial company to a national market leader and then on global market leaderhip. There is much that students can learn from how Howard Schultz and Starbucks have managed to pull off this feat within a 25-year time frame. The comprehensive nature of the case and the depth of detail provided about the company make the Starbucks case ideal for oral team presentations or as a comprehensive written assignment toward the end of the course. On the other hand, you can certainly position coverage of Starbucks early in the course—as a leadoff case for the course or as a follow-on to Whole Foods or Mystic Monk Coffee.
