...this assignment is to reflect on how the team presentation went, what the advantages and disadvantages were and how they were overcome. Also to look and compare different organisation techniques to the Greenwich Market and a fast-food restaurant and see what changes or suggestions could be made to the next academic year. Theorist’s Positive Teachings According to Gustafson and Kleiner (1994) “High performance teams work in organisations where staffs are just as responsible as managers for the performance of the team.” Belbin’s team role theory states: “A team role is “a tendency to behave, contribute and interrelate with others in a particular way.” Looking at these theories, it clearly states that working within a team, helps get the job done easier and quicker and you will be able to see different skills from the team members as you go along in the group exercise. To see the progress of the team, Belbin organised different team roles to describe the pattern of behaviour that characterises one person’s behaviour in relationship to another in facilitating the progress of a team. These are comprised of: * Action – oriented roles: Shaper, Implementer and Completer-Finisher * People – oriented roles: Coordinator, Team Worker and Resource Investigator * Cerebral – oriented roles: Plant, Monitor Evaluator and Specialist During the tutorial, we were asked to sort these behavioural patterns into the likeliness of our team mates. These are what we came up......

Reilly and Keith C. Brown, “Analysis of Investments and Management of Portfolio,” 9th edition, (South-Western, 2009) Chapter 5 Question 2 Question 10 Question 13 Question 15 2 The answers to the assignment questions In the text, the return due to exchange-rate changes (RX) is shown to be equal to fxt/fxt-1 - 1, where fxt is the foreign exchange rate at time t expressed in terms of the investor's home currency per unit of foreign currency. Let fxt be the exchange rate expressed in terms of dollars and fx*t be the exchange rate expressed in terms of pounds. These two rates are simply reciprocals, i.e., fx*t = 1/fxt. So from the table in the problem we have: Period (1 + RX) (1 + R*X) 3 1 2 3 4 5 (for US investor) 2.5/3 = 0.833 2.5/2.5 = 1.000 2/2.5 = 0.800 1.5/2 = 0.750 2.5/1.5 = 1.667 (for UK investor) 3/2.5 = 1.200 2.5/2.5 = 1.000 2.5/2 = 1.250 2/1.5 = 1.333 1.5/2.5 = 0.600 The total return to a U.S. investor from a U.K. investment is (1 + RX)(1 + RUK)  1; the total return to a U.K. investor from a U.S. investment is(1 + R*X)(1 + RUS)  1. So: Return to U.S. Investor From U.S. Investment From U.K. Investment 10% 15% 5% 12% 6% 7.6% Return to U.K. Investor 4 Period 1 2 3 4 5 Average (0.833)(1.05) (1)(0.95) (0.8)(1.15) (0.75)(1.08) (1.667)(1.1) ...

...very biased. I believed that writers had to follow a certain format and stick to the textbook rules in order to succeed as a creative writer. This notion of mine was completely shattered, and for the good, once I was introduced to the fact that a creative writer is in essence not bound by any rules. Don’t get me wrong, there are certain rules, but these rules are nowhere nearly as strict as the rules I experienced during my stint with formal literary writing. More than the rules, I uncovered several tools that would aid my writing process in the future. Experimenting with the five elements of creative writing - Image, Voice, Character, Setting and Story provided me with a firm fundamental understanding as to how I should begin crafting my portfolio. It was very interesting to discover how each of these elements worked independently as well as coherently within each of the four genres to provide a well rounded work of literature. Among the four genres, I was most comfortable with writing the Drama. Integrating all the necessary elements of creative writing into the drama came naturally to me as I could visualize the drama actually taking place on stage. The fact that all of my characters’ thoughts had to be externalized as opposed to fiction where I could go into my characters’ thoughts and not worry about the reader’s reaction proved to be an exciting challenge. Observing Love is Bl(ow)ind one can notice the use of this technique in the opening scene where Raf is in the bathroom......

Employee Portfolio Motivation Portfolio

...Employee Portfolio Motivation Portfolio Employee Portfolio Motivation Portfolio Being a manager at Riordan Manufacturing, I had my staff take self-assessments in order to see how I can use the material to find ways to manage them effectively. My three employees are a great asset to the company, each having their own performance level and character. After carefully assessing their portfolio, I determined how their character affected their performance of the organization along with that I had also created recommendations on the assessments I received. In this paper, I will determine the right motivational strategy that fits each employee’s characteristics to create an action plan to improve the individual as well as the company as a whole. Motivational Action Plan John M: When I look into the motivational strategy and action plan for John, I would say I could use the arousal strategy. He gets easily psyched up and gets emotionally aroused when we hold motivational meetings. When he gets motivated he then trains his staff in a better mood, gets them pumped up to hit the companies quota in sales for the day and pay period. The overall mood in the office is uplifted and energized to put all their focus into their working performances. By me giving John the encouragement he needs he will not feel I am micromanaging him nor giving him threats on demoting him overall for poor goal achievements. Brooke W: Looking into the motivational strategy that best fits......

How large (if any) were the gains from diversification? Did you diversify? Why or why not? Our strategy was to diversify, but we didn’t manage to, as the price of the assets was extremely high. 6) Calculate the CAPM beta of each asset. Were the asset expected returns proportional to their beta? The market expected return would be the average return of all the traded assets in market. According to CAPM, E(Red) = R(risk free) + B(Red)*(Risk Premium) We have risk free = 0, B(red) = E(Red)/E(M) GAME 1 |   |   | Market expected return | Beta Red | Beta BLUE | -0.155246723 | -2.795595415 | 4.795595415 | GAME 2 |   |   | Market expected return | Beta Red | Beta BLUE | -0.137742471 | 3.508929539 | -1.508929539 | 7) Using Solver, calculate the tangency portfolio. GAME 1: Portfolio composition |   | RED | 84.6% | BLUE | 15.4% | GAME 2: Portfolio composition |   | RED | 89% | BLUE | 11% | 8) According to the CAPM, the market portfolio is the tangency portfolio. For supply to equal demand, the tangency portfolio should have the same weights as the aggregate supply of risky assets. Is this true in our market? In this case the supply to equal demand does not have the same weights as...

During her MBA program, Sharpe had learned that in an efficient market, investors should buy and hold the ‘market portfolio’ because no other portfolio can offer the same expected return at a lower risk. Since the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 was the most commonly used benchmark for the overall U.S. stock market, Sharpe had invested her children’s educational savings in the Vanguard 500 Index Fund, a no-load mutual fund......

I want your advice in suggesting a portfolio of mutual fund for investment of my retirement fund. Last year, when I retired, I invested the full amount in a balanced fund. As it was a diversified fund, I thought that investment in one balanced fund would allow me to diversify my investment and I would get a decent return. Unfortunately, the fund has given negative return in spite of the fact that the stock index during the period has gone up by 5 per cent. Being a retired person, I cannot take much risk but would like to......

...Luke Martino Writing 102 12/9/15 Writing 102 Portfolio Throughout this semester of Writing 102, I have been assigned to write four essays that have stressed the course competencies of subject matter knowledge, writing process knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, genre knowledge, discourse community knowledge, and meta-cognition. Through the process of drafting, editing, and revising three out of the four papers, I think I have been effectively able to absorb three of those course competencies; subject matter knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, and writing process knowledge. The first paper I was assigned to write for Writing 102 was a literacy narrative. For this paper, I was told to write about a past experience that helped influence my current writing and reading qualities. The core competencies that were involved in this essay were writing process knowledge and subject matter knowledge. I used writing process knowledge when I was told to generate ideas for my essay. I began by thinking of five possible ideas and from there I created a brainstorming web out of the two topics I thought would be the most interesting. Shortly after starting, I realized I could only build an effective brainstorming web from one idea. I decided to use the first time I forgot my lines in a play as my main idea for the essay. After I completed the brainstorming web and finished taking notes on what I remembered from the incident I started to follow the writing process that consisted of......

...role as Senior Resident at Fenner Hall. Saying, “No thank you” to a resident who just offered to carry your bags can be viewed as doubting their ability, where the intention was to not burden them with the weight of the bags. A simple incident like this can lead to hostility and it is important to be aware of the cultural diversity and the implications on imposing your moral views. Ron was exceptional in raising numerous issues that relate to leadership and illustrating that leaders are learners throughout their leadership roles. Leadership and Influence in a Complex World VCUG 2002 Geoff Mortimore mentioned that leadership capabilities are built in three major ways:  Reading on leadership (10%)  Courses on leadership (20%)  On the job learning (70%) Yashas Alur U4556991 The figures in the brackets represent the amount that each method contributes in to developing leadership capabilities. In week 3, Lawrence Cram and Allan White were asked to address the question of what they would have liked to learn about leadership in university and what aspects of leadership cannot be learnt in a class room. What appealed to me the most in this panel was the fact that Allan White was not privileged to study a course such as this in his university. Instead he learnt about leadership through other leaders in his university. He stated that often it is important to recognise and identify leadership capabilities in others and see if you can apply it in your personal life. What he......
