If you only had one more day to live, how would you spend it and who would you spend it with? These are the questions that 7 billion people are going to be faced with in a few weeks. This is called the ‘’Theory of 2012’’ or “The end of the world’’ According to this theory, December 21, 2012 is the ‘’last day of earth’’. No matter how many reasons are given to prove this theory, there are still many controversies and speculations. The 2012 apocalypse is false because of too many proofs to this theory, the vague and useless information and the lack of media development.
If the apocalypse were to be true, there would be only one proof for this theory. One popular known reason is the Mayan calendar. This calendar was created over thousands of years ago and according to their calendar December 21, 2012 was the end. People also believed that the Mayans predicted series or misfortunate events marking that date. Another theory also was discovered which was the crashing of Nibiru. This proof was discovered by scientists that a planet under this name will hit the earth changing everything. If the world would have an end, there wouldn’t be more than one proof.

The problem with this so called apocalypse is that if one would want to find out more information about why the world is going to end, that would be a difficult task to accomplish. If you look in books, or search online they will give you very minimal information. This is because the theory is so undeveloped and unexpected that people can’t even take time to find out why. Also not only is there not enough information, but there is no support for their answers. If this doomsday were to be true, multiple information and scientific explanation would be provided.
Like any other developing news story, it is always tracked by the media who talk about it every second of the day. With the apocalypse of 2012 the media…...

The End

...The End by Charles Olaleye It was January 1st 2015 when millions of people were shocked to hear about the death of Harry Styles. Police found him dead in the kitchen of his house. There was no murder weapon found on the scene of the death. When other members of One Direction were asked about the death of their former friend. They said they knew nothing of what could have happened to him. They said “he seemed like totally fine” What they did know was that he said he had to meet someone in a cemetery 10 minutes before he died. No one knows if that could have been the reason of his death. One month later police think they have a lead on the semi-recent shocking death of Harry Styles. A knife was found next to the dead body of Harry Styles. His body for some reason was found next to a tombstone that said Niall Horan on it. A little weird? The knife had no fingerprints on it and the body had no blood on it and looked completely fine. Then what could have caused this mysterious death? The grave under the tombstone that said Niall Horan on it was dug up by investigators and another clue was found. A hammer was inside the grave with a dent on it and the initials Z.M which could have stood for Zayn Malik. No one knows why that would be. Two months after the death of Harry Styles investigators have another lead on the investigation. Behind the tombstone that had the name Niall Horan on it was a gun that had the name Liam Payne on it ironically. Investigators asked Liam if......

The End of Man

...The End of Men Men have always been the dominant sex. It is a fact that the world is male-dominated. Even the bible is colored by sexism. The first human on earth was a man and the first woman was created from his bone. Man has always been at the top of the hierarchy. But what about the future? Is man determined to be the dominant sex? In the article “The End of Men”, Hanna Rosin thematises women’s increasing power and the fact that women is now the dominant sex. The article “ The End of Men” was written by Hanna Rosin and published in 2010. The article focuses on women’s increasing influence in society and how the balance of power is changing in favor of women. According to Hanna Rosin, women will be the leading sex in the future. In 2010, women became the majority of the workforce for the first time in American history. More women than men get good educations and when parents choose the sex of their children, they most often choose girls because they are of that opinion that girls have brighter futures than boys. The title of the article doesn’t refer to some apocalyptic future where women are the only living sex on earth but to the fact that men doesn’t have the same status as they used to. The title is very provocative towards men because it sounds like men will become redundant in the future. Women are taking over the political system and the economy. But is this really the truth? In the article, Hanna Rosin only refers to the western world’s shifting power......

...
I love that people feel the bard class is going to be destroyed because game mechanics will finally apply to them. It is doubtful they are actually going to nerf any skills. They are just not going to let bards fire while moving and have as many instant cast situations. Bard is still going to be sought after because of their utility and ability to avoid damage being a ranged class. They are still going to be an integral part of end game content.
I think the reason people take issue with the bard nerfs is because despite not having to deal with any damage reduction, as a result of mechanics, bards are still performing beneath many of the other dps roles. Obviously there are going to be fights where bards shine (see: Titan) because of constant movement. However, within Coils you'll be hard pressed to find a situation where that level and frequency of movement is required. The bard "hype" at the launch of the game was just an exaggerated knee-jerk reaction that everyone had after seeing how strong bards were in the Titan fight, and how well they were performing with low gear levels across the board. Fast forward almost two months and the other classes have geared up and blown by bards numerically. At this point bards have two things: mobility and utility. Everyone seems to complain about bard mobility like it's too much but similar reactions could be thrown at summoner mobility; once their dots are up a good majority of the summoners......

End of World

... 2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End? 12.22.11 Scenes from the motion picture "2012." Courtesy Columbia Pictures. Remember the Y2K scare? It came and went without much of a whimper because of adequate planning and analysis of the situation. Impressive movie special effects aside, Dec. 21, 2012, won't be the end of the world as we know. It will, however, be another winter solstice. Much like Y2K, 2012 has been analyzed and the science of the end of the Earth thoroughly studied. Contrary to some of the common beliefs out there, the science behind the end of the world quickly unravels when pinned down to the 2012 timeline. Below, NASA Scientists answer several questions that we're frequently asked regarding 2012. Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012. Answer (A): Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012. Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012? A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the......

As Time Draws Near

...As the Time Draws Near This analytical essay will provide an analysis and interpretation of american writer Eowyn Ivey’s short story “As the Time Draws Near” (2012). The readers are introduced to the main character, Piper, who grew up in Alaska but later moved away. The short story follows her at a time when she has returned to Alaska in order to spread her dead father’s ashes under a particular spruce tree. She has a lot of thoughts about death and she is almost obsessed with it. Death is the focal point and theme in this short story. It raises questions such as what happens when we die? And what is death really? The story tells about our short time on earth and how fear of death can stand in the way of living life fully with all the experiences the current moment offers.
This essay will focus mainly on setting and the father’s outlook on life. Furthermore this essay will also include an analysis of the symbolism in the short story.
At the beginning the description of the nature in Alaska is a vivid portrayal followed by a number of incidents where people have been killed in or by this nature. Piper’s father is one of these people, he “falls out of the sky.” (p. 1, l. 10)
Her father with the name Red lived his life like it was an adventure. The description of the landscape appears in the same way - like a never-ending adventure. The tundra is a big and open landscape. The mountains, the glaciers and the snow continues into infinity. The same infinity that Piper’s......

...The significance of Cecil Rhodes on the British Empire It is true, Cecil Rhodes had an unquestionable impact on the British Empire and has become one of the most important figures in British Imperial history. The rapidity of his progress in South Africa is quite phenomenal; from the age of 37 he had become the Prime Minister of Cape Colony, and was part head of De Beers Consolidated, a diamond mining company which possessed a near monopoly of the global diamond market. However, this essay will claim that Rhodes as a businessman was not the main element in his imperial notoriety, prioritising NM Rothschild & Sons finance and subsequent corporate decisions over those made specifically by Rhodes. I will argue that Rhodes’ significance was mainly to the detriment of the British Empire, as his political blunders and capitalistic short-sightedness greatly tarnished public opinion towards Empire - nationally and internationally - and facilitated Britains losing independence in the Boer war of 1899. Rhodes’ methods were questionable to say the least, and his ability to strengthen Britain, whilst at the same time tarnish her long standing reputation as justified sovereign of her colonies was, impressive, to say the most. It has been said that Rhodes’ impeccable success as an imperialist can be greatly accredited to his success as a businessman. For it was his speculation in diamond and gold mining proper which facilitated his amass of wealth. Needless to say, the role of......

In the End...

...Djenaba O’Connor Potter STS-900 20 April 2015 In The End… In the Heaven Scenario, all life on Earth will be subject to what technology wants to happen to it. Technology has progressed to the point of total control, but there is nothing to worry about. The technology is safe and everyone loves it. They use it to focus on the beauty and culture and the other fine things in life. Ideas that weren’t possible have come to existence. In the Hell Scenario, the technology that was supposed to safe us ends up condemning us. We will fight with one another, nation against nation, to gain control of the fast growing power of the technologies we built. But we will be so helpless, no type of agreement can be reached. Just like in the Heaven Scenario, things that were impossible before will come to pass. Only this time, they will be horrid things. In the Prevail Scenario, we humans begin to slowly take back the world we created for ourselves. Though technology will always be a part of who we are, what we do, and how we do it, we will control the technology. Not the other way around. As James Lanier put it, “Humans have an uncanny history of muddling through.” In other words, we will find a way to become relevant once more. We will find a way to come back from the corner we let technology back us into, and we will come out strong on the other side. No, it will not be easy, but it can be done. I am very much a people person and do not care so much for the many technological......

The End Is Near Without You

Armageddon will be upon us and you of all people will pay for what you have done.” Bishop strikes with his sword to the chest of Stank Gum. Stank Gum blocks and returns a strike to Bishop’s leg. “Muahahahah, you’re weak and slow just like your father! I enjoyed killing him by the way. His blood was mighty tasty too.” Bishop never knew the potential he had, or what he was capable of doing. Everyday Bishop was cleaning stables for his father. Until one day he was working and heard...“Bishop! Someone’s here to see you.” Bishop made his way to the front door of his home and opened the door. “May I ask what you’re doing hear stranger?” Bishop asked. “Pardon my interruption. I am Mifune. I’m looking for Bishop Amarta. Is he here or am I at the wrong house?” “I’m here, what seems to be the problem sir?” Bishop replied. “The world is in danger from the notorious ruler Stank Gum and our legion is in need of your help. Come with me and I can show you, trust me, the end is near without you,” explained Mifune. “Alright, just for this one time, but I am not a hero.” Bishop joined Mifune on the ride to check out his Legion. As Bishop and Mifune arrived, Bishop saw a bunch of other people training in obstacle courses. “Woah! What is this place?” asked Bishop. “This is The Legion of Kishin, the best warriors from all across the world come here to train......

...Action Verbs It’s like—I could stress out in my early twenties, and get work done and get that assignment in and write down what the professor says, but for what? To go work with my dad in this crazy market? (Enlighten). That does not sound like fun to me! (Urge). So—what? What’s left? Option One—Pull a Davis. Stress about what you are told to do and force an early life heart attack on yourself. Not judging, just saying (Criticize). And there’s Option Two: The Cooper way. Four years? Hell no. Five. Six. Six and a half (Challenge). I know people. And this way, I end up saving time. (Assert) Why? Because people who opted for Option One work towards retirement, but the high blood pressure and anxiety and the extra bullshit stress decrease the chance of that 401K seeing the light of day (Validate). So us Option Two guys—we’ll cry at your funeral and mutter something about you being too young to die, but those extra three years I took in college, they turn into twenty or forty extra years added to my vacation time called “life.” (Motivate/Persuade). You want a beer? (Ease). Character Personality Cooper is most likely a super college senior. He comes from a wealthy family (his father is a CEO). Since he has a place to work for sure once he graduates, he is not worry about school. He doesn't date and doesn't plan to. He’s super laid back kind of person. He likes to take the time to enjoy the things he does. He’s more about being stress-free than being successful. He cares about...

...are global similarities amongst women; thus, she asserts that women generally are more likely to be verbally fluent earlier, they are less likely to suffer from reading disabilities and aphasia, but, perhaps more importantly, she asserts that women have a different attitude to language use to men: `Most women enjoy talk and regard talking as an important means of keeping in touch, especially with friends and intimates . They use language to establish, nurture and develop personal relationships. Men tend to see language more as a tool for obtaining and conveying information. They see talk as a means to an end’ (Holmes, 1995:2). This is very similar to the position advocated by other `difference’ feminist linguists, who claim that women and men are brought up in different gendered sub-cultures and thus use language in fundamentally different ways to achieve different ends (Coates, 1996; Tannen, 1991). Holmes bases her claims on extensive quantitative data, unlike many researchers in this field. However, even though she analyses a great deal of data, it is largely from white middle class New Zealand women and men. [x] Holmes is aware of the difficulties entailed in making generalisations about women's speech from this data: `many of the statements about the way women and men use language will inevitably appear as gross generalisations from specific studies of particular men and women in particular situations who belong to specific cultures, social classes, age......

...1. Write the numbers to be added in two horizontal lines, below each other, aligning the decimal points. If the number is a whole number (ie. no decimal), add a decimal point to the end of the number. Add zeroes to empty spaces on the right to line up the columns. Ads by Google Math Worksheets  Free Math Worksheets K-8 Math Practice www.thegreatmartinicompany.com 2. 2 Starting on the right, add the numbers in that column and put the answer directly under the column. If the answer is greater than 10, place the last number under the column and any remaining numbers above the column directly to the left (commonly referred to as "carry over"). 3. 3 Add all columns in the same manner as step 2, being careful to remember any numbers that carried over from the previous column. 4. 4 Place a decimal point in the answer directly below the decimal point in the numbers above. Counting from the decimal point to the left, put a comma after every third digit. Adding by Regrouping One of the wonderful things about addition is that the order doesn't matter --- assuming you're adding only positive numbers, of course! This flexibility allows you to rearrange your addition problems to suit yourself. Some examples: 27 + 19 can become (27 + 3) + 16 which then becomes 30 + 16 for a final answer of 46 54 + 38 can become (50 + 30) + (4 + 8) which then becomes 80 + 12 for a final answer of 92 125 + 16 can become 125 + 5 + 11 or possibly 125 + 10 + 6, for a total of......
