Uncertain Have you ever experience living under colonization? As the matter of fact, Macao, where I was born and raised at was colonized by Portugal from the mid 16th century until year of 1999. On December 20, 1999, Macao was transferred back to China, and that’s where the uncertain began. Since the past experience that I had with living in a colony, and the supporting source that I found from the book The Jesuit Relation written by Allan Greer, I think the native agency was very uncertain about the European colonization. Under my definition, agency means an organization with a group of people who are trying to protect or taking care of the same goal. In the situation of European colonization, New France was the native agency, they are trying to protect their own from France since they are not sure what was going to happen to them after they secured. Instead of secured to France, they created their own agency, “they established a place for themselves in the existing native alliance system.” (94) For the native people, one of the reasons they are resisting to obey is due to the fear of uncertainty. From the peace negotiation at three rivers, the author noted that Sieur de Chamflour said to the ambassadors once “they should consider themselves at home here among us, that they had nothing to fear, that they were in their own house.” (97) By the way Sieur de Chamflour said, he was trying to convince the ambassadors that they had nothing to fear; but obviously, he said that because he knew those native people have fear in them. It is not easy to adopt the new life, and live by the new rules; it takes time to go through all those transformations. Therefore, their reaction of resistance over colonization was come from the fear of uncertainty. Second of all, rumor can be harmful sometimes. When Macao was transferred back to China, there’s lots of…...

History 100 Film Review "Gettysburg" S. Snow.

...Patrick Watkins 10/10/2012 History 100 Film Review There have been many films made that are based off of true stories. However, one of the most accurate movies I have seen was Gettysburg. Released in 1993 and directed Ronald Maxwell, this movie goes into detail and talks about the decisive 3 day Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. Actors Tom Berenger, Jeff Daniels, and Martin Sheen do an excellent job playing the roles of Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, and Joshua Chamberlain. While the film did poorly in the box office, the film has been praised for its accuracy. The film is so committed to telling the story right that it takes 4 hours to tell it. While we are supposed to only use one paragraph for the summary, I am afraid I need more than one to talk about Gettysburg. The movie starts off with the location of the battle and explains how the armies converged at Gettysburg. After following a constant winning streak, Confederate general Robert E. Lee decides to invade the north and crush the Army of the Potomac and force the north to surrender. Brig. General John Buford and his cavalry unit arrive at Gettysburg believing that if Lee secures the town it would give them an easy defensive position that could wipe out the Potomac. Buford then deploys his forces along Seminary ridge in order to defend the west from confederates and send word to Major General John Reynolds. The second day finds confederate general Henry Heth clashing with Buford's men after......

...established company with global operations. Furthermore, it has a stable revenue history that has had an extraordinary amount of consecutive growth. Additionally, Hertz has built a great deal of brand equity worldwide; especially in regards to the airport services they provide. All of this makes Hertz an ideal candidate for a leveraged buyout. The interesting aspect to this case is how the dual-track process was structured. Ford must have known that their subsidiary would have been a prime target for a leveraged buyout and gained enough confidence to put the pressure of the IPO option as an incentive for potential investors to move quickly. However, even if no investors emerged to acquire Hertz, it is also reasonable to suspect that Hertz would have fared well in the IPO. Yet, in the event that Hertz was sold through an IPO, there is a substantial amount of risk involved. Ford would have been subjected to whatever the market deemed the appropriate price for the stock was. Therefore, from their perspective, they had to juggle potential LBO offers with their prediction of what the company would have commanded in the marketplace. Hertz was a prime buyout target for a LBO because the company meets many of the classic criteria for a successful LBO target. It has an extremely strong brand name which consumer markets all over the world have come to know. It was actually listed among Business Week’s top 100 most valuable brands in 2005. Additionally it is one of the top three......

...The History of Violent Resolution So it basically all started with a Indian and asthmatic getting together in an MSN conversation with the help of 4 legends of Silent Assassins. Awaken and Hostile were two clans who had just been at their peak and starting to drop slowly. Awaken leaders (General Shop, Jerminator12 and Drew Koskey) and Hostile leaders (Stephen22288, Viper1500 and Tyler11) were set into an MSN conversation with each other to talk. They talked about life and how their clans were doing and somehow got onto the topic of merging Awaken and Hostile and seeing what the outcome out be. They named all the positives and negatives of the situation and the merge seemed to look like it was all positive outcomes. After having a pk trip together and hunting some smaller clans in the wilderness, the leaders figured the pk trip went very well and decided to finalize the merge. Vargas, Jocevic Viernes, Maricor Assassination of Benigno Simeon "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. The assassination of Benigno Aquino, Jr., former Philippine Senator, took place on Sunday, August 21, 1983 at Manila International Airport. Aquino, also a longtime political opponent of Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, had just landed in his home country after a 3-year self exile in the United States when he was shot in the head while being escorted from an aircraft to a vehicle that was waiting to transport him to prison. Also killed was Rolando Galman, who was later implicated in Aquino's murder. Reaction Assassination of Benigno Simeon "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. The assassination of Ninoy Aquino Jr. is for me a mystey because there is no one who spoke out that they are the one who killed Ninoy. But I think it is the Marcos family responsible for the assassination because they are the one who had a conflict with late senator Ninoy Aquino. –Pelinio I think assassination of Ninoy Aquino was injustice of human rights because he was shot in the head while being escorted from aircraft. Also Ninoy wanted a justice for being not democratic threatened against Marcos’ authoritarian rule. I’m proud of having a good senator on that time because he only thinks about the Filipino’s sake and he really fight for the right of human......

... World History Summer 2015 History 101 Dr. Mahdavi Student Learning Goals for Content and Skill Acquisition: This is a course in the history of the human community from approximately 1500 C.E. to the present. The course differs from the traditional Western Civilization class in that the entire world rather than Europe alone is the focus of study. The central questions the course will ask are these: What is Modernity, that is, what do we mean when we ask of "the modern world" in which we live? How have the political, social, cultural, and economic forces that we associate with modernity changed our world and its people during the past 500 years? Why has the intercommunication, interaction, and interdependence of the peoples of the world become so much more intense during the past 500 years than they were in earlier ages? How and why did western civilization rise to global domination in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and how has the challenge of western power and cultural prestige affected the course of history of all the World's people? Finally a question that we should be asking throughout the semester: how have the patterns of world history over the past 500 years determined or affected 1) the way we now live and think, and 2) our prospects for peace, prosperity, and the "pursuit of happiness" in the coming decades? This course is NOT primarily a narrative survey of civilizations, dynasties, and nations. The history of......

After her husband’s death in 1977 she founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development. Do you celebrate it in your country? Here is a little history about it …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Like many other holidays, Halloween has evolved and changed throughout history. Over 2,000 years ago people called the Celts lived in what is now Ireland, the UK, and parts of Northern France. November 1 was their New Year's Day. They worried that evil spirits would cause problems or hurt them. So on that night people wore costumes that looked like ghosts or other evil creatures. They thought if they dressed like that, the spirits would think they were also dead and not harm them. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… The tradition of Halloween was carried to America by the immigrating Europeans. The Second Bank of the United States was a private concern, but acted to control the currency of the United States. Those other institutions often issued large amounts of paper money and followed liberal loan policies; such practices were frowned upon by the conservative directors of the Second Bank of the United States.
