Formal Anaylsis

The frist painting is called A Walk Through New York with a Headache and Loteria Cards. It is an oil, acrylic and montage canvas painting painted by Julio Galans in 1984. This was Juilo Galans first painting. The painting is of a gaint figure that looks like a Manhattan hotel bellhop towering over the city's skyscrapers carrying a Sacred Heart, the whole painting is bored by subways and and other city images. The second painting is called Card Game and Squashes and Me and Me. It is an oil and acrylic on canvas painting painted by Julio Galan 1984. The painting is of a boy who is addicted to himself and the squahes and gourds resemble the game he is playing with his life. The first element is lines. The line quality of the first painting is very flowing and elegant. The line quality is calligraphic because of his scribbling abstract citations he writes in the painting. The line quality of the second painting is elegant and flowing. The implied lines of the first painting have a lot of painting gestures and has a lot of striaght lines in the painting. The implined lines of the second painting has a lot of broken lines. The second element is shape. The first painting has biomorphic shapes because the images in the painting resemble living organisms or natural forms. The shape of the first painting is two-dimensional visual entity. The shape of the second painting has geometric shapes and biomorphic shapes. The shape of the second painting is two- dimensional and has regular shapes. The third element is value. The value of the first painting has a lot of darkness in it becaue of it being night makes the painting look dark. ...Formal Communication If I was preparing a formal report for my accounting peers, my manager, and the owner of a business, I would essentially feel the need to write three different reports. Each individual or group of people will have different informational needs and different knowledge levels of the subject matter. This forces me to place how formal the report would be into three different levels which include low, medium, and high. Knowing how to read your audience and choose the right formality of the report is critical to improving communication. Ron Horton states “formalized communications can significantly enhance and improve safety, execution, and productivity” (Horton, 2012) . The report for my accounting peers would be on the low end of being formal. It is still formal, as most reports should be, but a little less intense as the other two reports. The report for my manager would fall in the medium category of being formal. You would not want this report to be as laid back as the one to the peers but not too formal because it is your boss and they usually have knowledge of the subject matter. Because your boss has the power to some decision making you want to increase the formality slightly from the report to your peers. Lastly, you have the report for the owner of a business who is your client. This report would fall under the level of high in formality. ...the P/E ration you take the market value per share and divide that by the earnings per share. As per Yahoo Finance when I did the calculation, the market closed on MSFT at $25.60 per share. The annual EPS from past years and moving foreword for MSFT is 2.75. So you take 25.60/2.75=9.309 for the P/E ratio. As looking through other industry averages and other companies who are along the same lines as MSFT I would have to say there about in the middle, maybe a little above the average in terms of you should buy because as a stock it is a little bit lower priced than others industry. Thus, you could say it is minimally underpriced and you could invest, but I would not expect great gains in the near future by any means. To start the risk anaylsis part of this report I feel obligated to report and show a little bit about how over the course of the period my portfolio fluctuated. The market was very volatile during our trading period and I think it played a big factor in the outcomes of our final portfolio in the end. As you can see from the graph my particular portfolio went up and down frequently and in a rather bigger range for where I ended up in the end. Touching on before the dips in my portfolio worth can be justified with my risks taking in some of the bad purchase that I made. ...Intro to Film Study Film Analysis of Pulp Fiction Pulp Fiction is a movie that seems to have multiple stories being told almost simultaneously. Some will say it is about two hit men or a boxer, but the truth is there is no story behind the film. The whole purpose of the film is to parody every type of film movement created. This film leaves no movement out. The director, Quentin Tarantino, uses the film’s formal properties to express larger themes. First of all, Quentin Tarantino somewhat sticks to the classic Hollywood System for editing. Tarantino does not seem to cross the axis of action. However, there are times when the director breaks with the classic Hollywood System for editing and one way he does this is by having a discontinuous editing system. One example is the end of the movie. Under the rule of continuity editing, it should have been following the beginning of the film. The director, however, did not seem to use crosscutting, which could have worked in his film and makes him adhere to the continuity editing system. Among all the other styles present in the film, film noir and surrealism seem to be the most obvious. Throughout the movie, Tarantino parodies these films styles along with many others. ...Magno, Pacifico Andreo S. TFA 150, Ma’am Lisa 2008-82788 FORMAL ANALYSIS The artwork was made by combining various types of lines mainly: expressive, implied, hatching and crosshatching. This was done probably with pencil on paper with a conveyed roughness on the strokes with a rather pleasing softness to it. Expressive lines were used to create the outline of the artwork and to illustrate the overall shape. Implied lines were made to create the twirls on the piece mainly found on the head of the subject. Hatching and crosshatching was then used to create a sense of depth, focus and contrast on the subject. The lines that were illustrated are very biomorphic and seemingly art nouveau in nature, a very popular art style during 1890–1910. The piece itself is flowing and sinuous. This is somehow a representation of hidden desire, a suppressed craving that probably wants to come out. The artwork is colorless and is completely dependent on shades of black and white, the face is somewhat dulled yet expressing a smile on the lips which looks like its daydreaming and yet, the whole image is somehow juxtaposed because of its lack of color and relaxed facial expression sided along powerful and curved lines full of energy. The lines itself seems erratic at first glance – but rather, it follows a direction.
