Shaping and Adapting
Certain environments have the capacity of impacting one’s behavior and shaping one’s characteristic and worldview. We unconsciously conclude the theory that one’s behavior is caused by the personal background, conviction or the inherited gene. However, the surrounding environment, which we always neglect, plays a significant part of causing and forming one’s behavior. Susan Faludi, the author of “The Naked Citadel”, introduces an all-male military college called “The Citadel”. This “big bad macho school” adores the masculinity and the fourth-class system which devotes to turn the knobs to the whole man by bearing the abuse and hazing. This school is strict and orderly but has serious sex and racial discrimination which is so spread that even the administration and committee condones it. The violence and hierarchy system can be partially explained by Gladwell theories. In “The Power of Context : Bermic Goets and the Rise and Fall of New York City Crime”, Malcolm Gladwell examines the factors that shape people’s behavior and then comes up with his ideas. He argues the Power of Context Theory that context has much more impact on the behavior than we thought. According to the Broken Window Theory, people could solve the problems by changing little things in the environment. He also illustrates the “situational” view that in some specific situation, what matters more is the tipping point in the immediate environment which affects people’s unconsciously behavior rather than the inherent predispositions. However, the predispositions influence people’s behaviors as well. The situation does trigger certain behaviors but the inner thoughts domains most reactions in our lives. In general, people’s characters are based on their inner thoughts and backgrounds,…...

Shanghai Branding Report

...Introduction The International Exposition (Expo) is an organization for placing brand and converging the public diplomacy. Since the Great Exhibition of 1851in London had opened the door to a procession of spectacular festivals of self-representation and image making, most western countries have accepted the Expo as an opportunity to show that their method to challenge of sustainable development of the city is in a more environmentally friendly interactive displays than others. However, the greatest honor cumulative to the hosts. The city of Shanghai, which was a badge member of the exclusive club of the world’s premiere cities, worthy of the event in a world-class. More widely, the Beijing Olympics of 2008 showed the new China and precisely provided an example of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Hence, the Chinese government may point to the Expo as another example of the admiration of the world turning toward China. It was reported that in the last 160 years, there has never an Expo similar to that, which took place in the 2010 Shanghai Expo. A case in point is that more than 700,000 people poured into a site the size of Baltimore in Shanghai in 184 days. They found that an unprecedented number of pavilions, built by the state and enterprises exhibitors, which deployed cutting edge architecture and state-of-the-art exhibition techniques to comment as ‘Better City, Better Life’ in English, but the Chinese version is closer to ‘city: let ’s make life better......

Japan Expo 2013 Review

...Japan Expo Paris 2013 feat. European Cosplay Gathering - The Best Cosplay Stage in the World Every first weekend of July since 1999, airport security at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport deals with more than just their ordinary odd size luggages: along with the influx of fake weapons comes a large group of ordinary-looking visitors accompanied by their extensive and extraordinary packages. Hotels within a 10km radius of the airport are entirely booked out 9 months prior to this special weekend. Foreigners and Parisians alike have all learnt to prepare for this sudden spike in human traffic. It is no longer considered unusual to be serving a cup of Starbucks coffee to a customer dressed to the personification of Hatsune Miku, and if asked why are they here in Paris? The answer is always the same: Japan Expo. Japan Expo Paris is possibly the largest Japanese Traditional Culture, Anime, Games and Pop Cultural event outside of Japan, boosting a staggering figure of 280,000 unique visitors over 4 days of its exciting, unique and fun-packed agenda. As Europe’s longest running convention held annually at Parc des Expositions (2 train stops away from Charles de Gaulle International Airport) over 4 of the largest expo halls, Japan Expo presents us a fine balance between the most traditional of Japanese arts, and the overwhelming world-famous Japanese Anime and Gaming craze-doms. Home to the critically-acclaimed European Cosplay Gathering (ECG) Finals, Japan Expo plays......

...Other than having good people skills workers also need to have knowledge of the food menu. It is often embarrassing if a guest asks a worker what the dish calamari contains, and the worker is not able to answer the question. As Expo you must know all the dishes very thoroughly so you can send out the right dishes to guests. This is especially important to know when a guest announces a food allergy they have. For example If you have a guest say they are allergic to MSG, an Expo must know what dishes contain that and prevent a server from taking it out. If that same guest were to order nachos, and the Expo sent it out unaware that it contained MSG, a guest could have a really bad day. But the part of the job that is probably most important is being able to multitask. There are many workers who are not able to do this. A worker might be clearing tables, and get a request form guests on refills of their drinks. If a worker does not have good multitasking skills they might come back without the refills for the guests. As Expo its is difficult to do all your tasks, especially during rush hours and weekends. Part of this is because as Expo you must supply the cooks with items they need. This could be for example dishes, to-go boxes, and hot water. Not only do Expos have to make sure the food goes out to guest, but since they are what connects the kitchen and the servers, they have to take care the cooks as well. As a restaurant worker there are many thing that can go wrong.......

...Economic Dimension-2010 Shanghai Expo The Shanghai Expo is called “Economic Olympics” by some Western Media, which can demonstrate its economic value. Shanghai’s economic development has already entered into a bottleneck period since 2000. Hosting the Expo became Shanghai’s perfect opportunity to increase the economy’s reliance on service and high-tech industries and energy efficient ways of development. The Shanghai government has invested heavily in new fields of focus, including new material, aviation, biological medicine and communication technology and shifted undesired industries totaling $4.4 billion in output to other cities. Although the initial investment is surprisingly large (RMB 400billion), the profits generated by all the industries (tourism, hotel, transportation etc) are also quite significant. It is important to remember that the Expo is not about short term profits for China, but national pride and long term economic developments. Also the seriousness which China has devoted to Expo is matched by many other countries and companies, eager to tap into China’s large consumer market. However, it is also argued that the expo makes the bubbles in the real estate industry even bigger. The economic benefits of the expo may not be distributed evenly between those affected, which might make the current social problems in China even more serious. By looking at both sides of the the impacts of the project, we may conclude that Shanghai Expo’s economic value may......

It does not host any expos itself. However, the CEO is not satisfied with the results that the company has gotten from its expos. This is what the CEO had to say: “Right now, the expos are not helping us as they should. At some of these expos, between 30-100,000 vacation products suppliers visit various booths. Our problem is that our potential suppliers do not know we are at some of these expos. Hence, suppliers at the expos do not come to our booth. Lastly, the few suppliers that we interact with during expos, give us the brochures about their vacations. However, these are very hard to share with our customers. Could we create a more effective method of getting digital resources from our suppliers and share this with customers? We also meet potential travelers (customers) at the expos. Trade Fair Report

...report Telecom Expo & Cloud Expo NL On Thursday 9th of December I have visited the Telecom Expo & Cloud Expo NL. As the name already indicates it’s a telecommunication expo. The reason why I visited this trade fair is that we had to visit a b2b trade fair, and most b2b trade fairs you cannot visit as a student without an invitation or without paying al lot. And with this fair it was possible because it was the first time they were organizing this fair. The telecom Expo & Cloud Expo NL was specially organized for the IT sector but everybody from every company could go to this trade fair if they wanted. The target group for this trade fair were it-professionals in all sectors. This was because those people need this kind of systems which were exposed on the trade fair. There was definitely a connection between the lay-out/set-up of the trade fair and the target group. Because it was really IT like, with all high tech equipment. It also had colouring, but totally different than on a trade fair like “de huishoudbeurs”. My first impression of the Telecom Expo & Cloud Expo NL was that it was small, but really good organized. Because at the entrance they checked you invitation. If you had forgotten your invitation or even didn’t had one they had a few computers were you could subscribe or just print your invitation. They took care of everything, and even had catering. Even it was the first time the organized the Telecom Expo & Cloud Expo NL it......

Danube Swot Analysis

...STRENGTHS: Already trusted and established firm across the GCC. Brand awareness, Brand image and Brand loyalty are all positive. Headquarters in Dubai, one of the global cities, and the site for Expo 2020 Political stability in the region Strong economy of country Strong employee base Due to their other product divisions, their operational cost for real estate infrastructure is reduced. Hence, they can provide their homes at a lower cost comparatively. more companies and individuals looked to set up in dubai due to the expo. Hence demand for real estate is very high. And if companies can get it cheaper, which Danube provides, they would readily go for it. With the expected huge number of expatriates and workers relocating to Dubai in the years leading to it, new residential projects have increased dramatically. LOCATIONAL ADVANTAGE – Glitz @Studio City (24 kms) and Dreamz @Al Furjan (32 kms) from Expo2020 site=DWC During EXPO, depending on the scale of it’s success, people from other countries (tourists or vacationers) would want to increasingly invest in Dubai real estate due to its status, number of tourist destinations and world class attractions (esp those that are being built are just awesome). Since the materials for infrastructure will be primalrily theirs, they can commit to fininshing the projects in time, something that is sometimes rare(check later?) in the real estate market. Feasible payment plan. WEAKNESSES: It is essentially a building materials...
