Why does Kool Aid need to come in bottles that are then cocooned in plastic?

Why do cookies need to be individually packaged?

Environmentalists yesterday raised those questions in handing out junk- packaging awards to nine household products they deemed to be packaged in ways that harm the environment.

Kraft's Kool Aid Bursts and General Mills' Dunkaroos individually wrapped cookies were among the products singled out by Clean Water Action and Public Interest Research Group for their award. Also named were Kal Kan's Whiskas Ultramilk cat drink, Sheba cat food and Quaker's Oat cups.

The groups said the citations were the eighth in a series of "wastemaker" awards calling attention to packaging that pollutes the environment.

"I see no reason cats need a juice box," Sheila Balen, director of the Pennsylvania PIRG, said of Kal Kan's Ultramilk beverage package.

Kudos Pan Squares sold by M&M Mars was cited for its individually packaged homestyle snacks, along with Wesson Vegetable Oil's new plastics containers (which are nonrecyclable), 3-M's New Stroke Snap-Off disposable paint brushes, and Hillshire Farm's Lunch 'N Munch bologna and cheese snacks.

"It's irresponsible, excessive packaging, which wastes natural resources as well as taxpayer dollars," said Sam Spofforth, director of Clean Water's eastern Pennsylvania office.

Spofforth said that in addition to the surplus packaging, many of the materials used to package the products were non-recyclable.

Most of the manufacturers of the products cited said they were sensitive to environmental concerns and that their packaging was designed to protect the integrity of the products. A few also said that they were changing their packaging to more environmentally friendly materials.

"Even before we heard from these groups, we had taken the initiative," said Jim Conlan, spokesman for M&M Mars in…...

...facts do you feel were a stretch by the court in Margreiter? d) Which case do you feel was more of a "slam-dunk" case to decide and why? (Points : 10) a) Do you feel that the Margreiter case had as strong facts as did the Nordmann case for holding the hotel liable? Why or why not? Both cases included very strong facts. In both cases the hotels didn't have any defense for their lack of security or lack of care. In the Margreiter case the there was a lot of negligence such as two people being able to use the elevator and a key to the room. The fright elevators should have been locked at 11 and were not. There were no cameras, no adequate alarm systems and exits that were unguarded. b) Which facts do you feel most strongly weigh in favor of the court's decision in the Margreiter case? Mr. Margreiter permanent injury had a strong and weigh in heavy on the court's decision. . The fact that he has to deal with some of his injuries for the rest of his life. Headaches, broken bones, perforated ear drum, epilepsy and lost of a substantial amount of earnings. c) Which facts do you feel were a stretch by the court in Margreiter? I don't see any stretch of facts by the court. Maybe the lack of security and protection by the hotel. d) Which case do you feel was more of a "slam-dunk" case to decide and why? I think that the Nordman case was more of a slam-dunk case. The fact that Mr. Margreiter was drunk raised some questions . So it case of Margreiter it was......

He quickly emerged as a league star, entertaining crowds with his prolific scoring. His leaping ability, illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line in slam dunk contests, earned him the nicknames "Air Jordan" and "His Airness". He also gained a reputation for being one of the best defensive players in basketball.[4] In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a "three-peat". Although Jordan abruptly retired from basketball at the beginning of the 1993–94 NBA season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Bulls in 1995 and led them to three additional championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 1995–96 NBA season. ...Types of Basketball Shooting Dunk A dunk shot is when a player takes the ball, jumps to the level of the hoop and successfully places the ball inside the hoop, usually with great force. A dunk can be completed with one or two hands. Only a minority of players can successfully dunk on a regulation 10-foot men's professional hoop, as it takes either a tall or very athletic person with extra leaping ability to complete this task. This shot has the highest percentage of completion. Layup A layup shot is when a player is close enough to the basket where he can successfully lay the ball up in the air and into the hoop. This can be accomplished with our without the use of the backboard or the rim. A player's hands usually don't touch the rim during a layup. Most teams work on layup drills extensively prior to game time. This shot on average has the second-highest completion rate. Similarly, an alley-oop shot is when one player throws a pass to another player who is already up in the air and the second player puts the ball into the basket with a dunk or layup. Jump Shot A score is considered a jump shot when the player stops on the court at a certain point and pushes off the ground with two feet into the air while releasing the ball. A jump shot can be worth two or three points, depending on the position. A successful jump shooter in professional basketball can make between 40 and 60 percent of his shots. Hook Shot Kareem Abdul-Jabbar popularized this type of shot in the......

The Importance of Training and Development in Hospitality Industry: Maldives Resorts

...in changing an individual’s behaviour so that their performance will become more proficient. Furthermore, (Dunk, 2003) stated that training is the process which is used for the development of knowledge and skills needed to perform the jobs, duties and tasks in an organization. As per (Hinkin, 2006) training is a four-stage process which consists of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation. Whereas, development focuses upon the activities that the organization employing the individual or that the individual is part of, may partake in the future and is almost impossible to evaluate. Development also suggests achieving several jobs or new role in the future. Hence, training and development is the field concerned with organizational activity aimed to improve the performance of individuals and groups in an organization. Training and development has been known by several names like, employee development, human resource development and learning and development. Canada, a Cultural Analysis

...article Nationalism and Literature: The Politics of Culture in Canada and the United States by Lyn Spillman, “The great American novel tells the story of an individual adrift from society” while it is typical for Canadian novels to focus on “Tensions induced by secure but constraining social bonds,” (Spillman, 1998 p.279). In accordance to Adler’s table Canada is considered to be a dominant culture. Thomas Dunk’s article, National Culture, Political Economy, and Socio-Cultural Anthropology in English Canada, supports this statement. Dunk states that Canadian culture is dominant because “The majority of the population is English speaking” with the exceptions of Quebec and New Brunswick and that the major “Political, cultural, provincial, economical, and national institutions operate primarily in English,” (Dunk, 2000, p.131). Such institutions include “The educational system, work places, mass media, trade unions, and government bureaucracies,” (Dunk, 2000, p.131). According to Kalbach’s research, the 2001 Canadian census showed that “Many aboriginals declare multiple origins,” (Kalbach, 2003, p.145). Since then, “The rate of multiple responses as a percentage of total responses has been on the rise, with 57.9% for Canada and over 50% for every CMA except Regina,” (Kalbach, 2003 p.145). Saskatoon also saw a rise in percentage with a total of “Just over 50%,” (Kalbach, 2003 p.145). The census also shows that the majority of immigrants in Canada are currently “Mainly......

...becoming a member of any church, so if this is true why such a big deal about children being dunk into some water to prove a point in the first place. Furthermore, many Christians pick a church base on the different programs that are offer like music, two services during Sunday, and of course whether kids are baptize at an early age. Because, some churches want to know before you even join are you or have you ever been baptize or not. Because denominations are losing their grip on member being baptize. Some people move from city to city looking for a church to call home. Wherever, people come from and what reason they are looking for a new home church. All people are looking for is a stable foundation and feeling a part of. Therefore some sociologists of religion think that, some people do not value tradition or loyalty anymore as they once did. Choosing a church has gotten so out of whack that it has become non-traditional. It has become like going shopping for personal item such as tooth paste and toilet paper like it does not matter. However, some still take it very seriously and do not make the decision in hast. However most, believers know that being obedience to God and being baptize is still the most important thing when joining a church. It is not just a fade. Today’s young people believe you can praise God and not be dunk in some water to belong. You can still go to heaven and will not be frown upon by God.......

The second part will show the content of the smoking advertisement, and the third part will introduce the target audiences and influence to people by AIDA. ...M4 - Analyse the feedback received from the interviewer In our mock interviews we were given feedback on the answers we gave. For my general appearance the score I got was 5/5 and the comment I got was that I looked really smart and that I took the interview seriously, even though it was a mock interview I believe that you have to make a lasting impression because my interviewer was from British Gas, if I applied for a job there in the future then it may put me in a better position as I have already made a good impression in this mock interview. For my body language I also scored 5/5, the comments I got was that I made really good eye contact, this is important as it shows that you are engaged and listening also that you are interested in what the interviewer is saying as well as this another comment was that I appeared really confident, this is also a crucial skill to possess as if you appear confident then the interviewer will not have to push you to answer questions and develop your answers. If you appear confident even though you are nervous it will leave a good impression with the interviewer as you will seem interested and that you want to the job more than other people who have applied. For the overall clarity of my answers I scored 4/5, the comments I received was that I gave really clear strong examples for each questions, the reason I scored 4/5 was because I did not always provide how I overcame the problems that occurred, in future interviews I will take this......

This is especially important if you are a speaker. Adds Bester, “Speakers need to engage with the audience, keep them entertained and leave a lasting impression. Added to this, speakers should encourage participation from the audience and give thorough answers. At the same time, guests should listen attentively and ask relevant questions.” For the audience, Dunk asserts: “Switch your cellphones off or at least on silent and if you really need to answer a call during event proceedings, show some respect and quietly and quickly leave the room before answering the call.” And for both parties? Bester recommends using the opportunity to network and build relationships. ...time, which is why an indoor/outdoor ball is recommended for recreational players. Aside from the court and the baskets, the basketball is the only piece of equipment necessary to play the game of basketball. During the game, the ball must be bounced continuously (dribbling), thrown through the air to other players (passing) and towards the basket (shooting). Therefore, the ball must be very durable and easy to hold on to. The basketball is also used to perform tricks (sometimes called free styling), the most common of which are spinning the ball on the tip of one's index finger, dribbling in complex patterns, rolling the ball over one's shoulder, or performing aerobatic man oeuvres with the ball while executing a slam dunk, most notably in the context of a slam dunk contest. Nike’s product is different than anyone else’s because they have one of the best basketball players to ever play the game, to market their product. His name is Michael Jordon. It was everything you'd expect of a movie premiere. But this premiere was for a shoe — the latest offering from footwear giant Nike. Nike has this business of buzz down to a science. That’s not surprising from what may be the most successful marketing machine in history. It’s a juggernaut that began with Nike’s......
