Do You Believe in Magic

I still remember how at nine out of ten birthday parties I went to when I was a kid, there would always be a magician picking cards, or making white doves disappear. Sometimes they had the rainbow scarves that were supposedly impossible to fit inside their tight sleeves. As the show unfolded, our eyes would turn from an ordinary size to cup saucers. When we were little, that was magic; now, it’s a person who rips off people by learning tricks from You-tube and adding extra pockets to their sleeves. By my age, most kids believed magic to be something that kids believed in, then grew out of when they discovered the opposite gender at about 12 or 14.

I believe in magic. I still do. Not the ordinary magic that involves tricks of deceit with white rabbits and doves, though this may sound like a cheesy romantic comedy line or a spiritual guidance line, magic is everywhere. At least to me it is. You can feel it when you’re just in a happy mood, when everything seems to go right. It’s as if the sun is shining brighter on you, the air smells sweeter, nothing anyone says can bring you down, and you’re even able to find that ten dollar bill on the floor.

Magic can be the love between two people. The feeling you get when you are with them, love is the most magical thing in the world. Magic is also the relationship of a mother and child is more powerful than any kind of love in the world. She will sacrifice anything for her child. A mother will be your first love, your best friend, your everything. My mom is like no other. She gave me life, nurtured, taught me, dressed me, fought for me, held me, shouted at me, kissed me, but most importantly loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words I can say to describe just how important my mom means to me.

That feeling of weightlessness which leaves you floating an inch off the floor all day is magic.

Do You Do Drugs

...anything else, too much of one thing is usually not good. I don’t really think it’s fair to compare caffeine to other illegal drugs because the negative impacts of caffeine are only prevalent if the user is taking in crazy amounts of it. Other drugs like heroin can cause lasting effects on somebody after one dose. Taking in high amounts of caffeine over a long period can cause bad results, but that’s why people need to learn self-control. My dad is a farmer and he drinks a cup of coffee in the morning and drinks a couple pops through the day. That’s way more caffeine then I take in during a regular day but I wouldn’t consider him addicted at all. He works long hours and sometimes needs that extra boost to get through the day. I do not think that we should tell children that caffeine is a drug simply because caffeine is in so many products that people enjoy. With that being said, I think we need to make sure kids limit their intake of caffeine. Children should not be drinking energy drinks because that’s more caffeine then they can handle and this is what is going to cause negative effects on them. I don’t think it’s a bad thing if a kid has a pop every once in a while but it should definitely be limited. I’m not going to be a teacher or coach but I think it’s us as adults that need to talk to kids about the dangers of caffeine. If they limit the amount they consume then there should not be a problem....

Knowing What You Believe

...Why is it important to know what you believe and why you believe it? The importance of knowing what I believe in would give me the optimum confident in my faith; and in order for that to happen I would have to be accurate in my knowledge of beliefs. I would need to know for myself what the truth is in order to speak belief to someone else. I would also have to present a sense of patience in my actions. I do not think that I would convince anyone of my belief if my tone of voice was hostile and abrupt. I feel if a person is calm they would be more substantial and convincing to believe in. Belief, I feel, is a feeling of preciseness and being confident of what is stated; and if there isn’t any confidants; nor knowledge of what we believe in there isn’t a reason of cause. Identify what you believe about God, the Bible and Jesus Christ. Why do you believe them? I know that God is real and that he created me and love me. We all are place on this earth with a purpose that is given by God and without him I believe there is no existent, he is the source for our lives. It is known by me that being separated from God will result in a disastrous life. The Bible I know is philosophic book of words of God, which is written to give us guide lines, of the way that we lived in the past and present. Jesus Christ is the son of God and he gave his life for our sins; I also believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. We all have different beliefs about our savior Jesus Christ......

All I Do Is Believe

...Bobby Skitt Mr. Johnson English IV 21 October 2013 All I Do is Believe My heart was beating like a drum as the coaches were walking over to let me know my fate. I gave my total effort out on the ice that day. Would it be enough, though, or would I come up short? I wanted this more than anything, and I would have been crushed if I did not accomplish my goal. It was my burning desire to make the Affton American’s Pewee AA ice hockey team. The news was coming whether I wanted to hear it or not. All I had left to do was believe, and that was exactly what I did. The days leading up to the tryout, however, I did nothing but constantly worry. The worrying got so bad that it started to affect my performance at school. My dad would try to calm me down with talks after school, but they were barely helping me. As the day inched closer, I was as worried as a mother sending her baby boy off to war. If I remember correctly, it was a Saturday, but the day of the week did not matter, because it was the day of my tryout. It could have been my birthday, and I still would have only been thinking about that tryout. About an hour before I had to leave, my mom and dad called me into their bedroom. I thought they were going to tell me some bad news. Instead, they just wanted to calm me down and pray with me. My mom took my hands and spoke wonderful words to God, asking Him to watch over me and telling Him that we were leaving my fate in His hands. I will not lie, I cried......

Do You Believe That the Greatest Leaders Are Born, Not Made?

...Do you believe that the greatest leaders are born, not made? Saint Leo University Leadership can be viewed as a process in which leaders and followers engage to achieve mutual goals. A leader is a person that displays the characteristics and personality traits of a leader and has the ability to obtain different leadership positions throughout his/her life. It has been said, the single most powerful way to grow as a leader is to become self-aware. (Andersen 2012). Social ability, self confidence, assertiveness, and boldness are all characteristics of natural born leaders. (London 2009) A person’s natural ability to interact with others is called social-ability. All natural leaders display this trait. This characteristic allows leaders to be, understanding, generous, outgoing, friendly, and congenial towards those around them. Those leaders who carry this characteristic usually lands a career in fields that allow them to direct and motivate others. Self-confidence is a fundamental basis from which effective leadership grows. Trying to teach leadership without first building confidence is like building a house on a foundation of sand. (Dao 2008) When you are in a leadership position, you have to not only know when to make a sound judgment, but you have to be able to do so. When looking at a leader’s self-confidence, you have to ask yourself; “ Is this person willing to go where no other leader dared to go?” A person in a position of power who lacks......

Why Is It Important to Know What You Believe and What Do You Believe About God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ

...know what you believe so you can make the correct decisions in life based on your personal values, and judge the best way to solve problems in your life. It is also important to know what you believe so if questioned you can intelligently address the concern. If you KNOW you can present the inquisitor with facts so they can evaluate them for themselves. My Beliefs 1.) I believe in God. He is the creator of all things including me. The world and everything in it is so intricate it could not have happened by chance or evolved over billions of years. 2.) I believe the Bible is the word of God. I believe this because the Bible meets the needs of all mankind. If you need comfort, love, forgivness, or faith you can find some verse or chapter to address the need. I also believe the Bible because I have accepted Jesus into my life and have faith that that the Bible is true. 3.) I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in him also because of faith. Jesus died in order to forgive us of our sins. Just because I cannot see him it does not mean he is not real. No matter what I am going through I know he’s there. If I need healing I pray and believe in him. If I need guidance in making a decision I ask and trust he will guide me. The hard part is to remain patient while waiting for him to show me the answers I seek. While waiting I keep praying to stay close to him. This way I do not......

Do You Feel That You Have Ever Been Discriminated Against? What Was/Were the Situation(S)? Do You Believe That Specific Demographic or Ethnographic Groups Working in the United States Need Legal Protection Against

...online students do not attend physical classes thus many people believe that they have extra time to study. However, most online students are employed and have families as well as social life. Accordingly, balancing these three aspects of their lives become a daunting task that condemns most of them to poor grades, retakes and supplementary papers. For example, self-directed study is challenging since many believe that they can spare a day, week, or month to ‘make up' for the lost or wasted time. Therefore, it is critical to have effective time management skills to balance their work, families and social activities. Effective time management skills enable online students to set aside sufficient study-time and effectively distribute the course uniformly, on a daily basis. For example, they will keep track of all assignments, research and other submissions so that everything is handed over on time. Finally, online students depend on electronic books and files rather than physical books and printed files for learning. Electronic books and files should be organized properly to ensure faster storage and retrieval. Organization of files is a personal choice; students can choose how to organize their files in a manner that is understandable and accessible. For instance, an online student can create folders that contain subfolders for individual subjects. The folders and subfolders should be named with respect to subjects that they contain to ensure that students do not......

...PSYCHOLOGY ASSIGNMENT WEEK 7 DUE DATE: 12/16/2012 1. Do you believe that people have an unconscious mind? If so, how does it affect thoughts, feelings, and behavior? Yes I do believe that people have an unconscious mind. The unconscious mind might be defined as part of the mind gives rise to a collection of mental occurrences that manifest in our mind but which are not aware of at the time of their occurrences. Do You Believe That Globalization Brings More Positive Benefits or More Negative Consequences to the World?

...Dear Citizens of the World, Do you believe that globalization brings more positive benefits or more negative consequences to the world? Do you believe that the negative consequences could be controlled? Why or why not? What do you think should be done? In my opinion, we are at the beginning stage of the globalization process; and the process itself might be well compared to the industrial revolution in its complexity, and the degree of the impact it inflicts on the societies and cultures. We well remember from our history lessons what the Industrial Revolution has done to the people of 18th, and 19th Century Americas and the Europe. In the end a great society had been built, but the price of it was rather high. Armesto, F.F. (2008) The World a Brief History. “Industrialization uprooted lives, disrupted families, and imposed bleak working conditions in cities rife with filth and disease. Visiting the British city of Manchester in 1835 , Alexis de Tocqueville, considered the greatest social analyst of his time, recoiled from factories that keep air and light out of human habitations which they dominate; they envelop them in perpetual fog here is the slave , there is the master; there is the wealth to some here the poverty of most.” Yet she wrote, “From this filthy sewer, pure gold flows.” Alexis de Tocqueville words still apply to the majority of the world’s population; since the majority lives in a perpetual poverty; poverty even greater, from the time when the......

If You Can Dream It, You Do It

...IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT...!! In childhood, we all have had many crazy dreams. But how many of us would really go behind those dreams and pursue them?? Time changes everything. And very few follow their dreams. It’s not that they forget their dreams, but the fear in them, pulls them back from pursuing their dreams. The courage they had in their childhood to do anything and everything is lost, the innocence is lost forever. They forget to think how much happiness it would bring into their life rather they are more concerned with what others would think if they follow their dreams. Even I have a dream, dream to be different. To stand out from the crowd, and to do things which no one ever had thought about. I always wanted to try those things which no one ever dared to do, because that helps me to know more and better of myself. I never followed anyone, because I never wanted to do the exact things what others did in their life. I wanted to be different, different from what others do and think. For me doing things differently, always means discovering myself, knowing more about myself, because what I always believe is, “if we want to do something different, we have to do that one thing which we feel we can’t do. Sometimes we may fail, but then we can proudly say, I’M DIFFERENT.” And for me the most daring thing is to be myself and to do exactly what I want to do at that point in time and not to be worried with what other people think or are doing. Yes I know......

Consumer Behavior - Is This a Uniquely American Preference Do You Believe That Bigger’s Better Is This a Sound Marketing Strategy

...ASSIGNMENT SOLUTIONS, PROJECT REPORTS AND THESIS aravind.banakar@gmail.com ARAVIND - 09901366442 – 09902787224 CONSUMER BEHAVIOR No. 1 The slogan for the movie Godzilla was “Size does matter.” Should this be the slogan for America as well? Many marketers seem to believe so. The average serving size for a fountain drink has gone from 12 ounces to 20 ounces. An industry consultant explains that the 32 – ounce Big Gulp is so popular because “people like something large in their hands. The large the better.” Hardee’s Monster Burger, complete with two beef patties and five pieces of bacon, weighs in at 63 grams of fat and more than 900 calories. Clothes have ballooned as well: Kick wear makes women’s jeans with 40 – inch diameter legs. The standard for TV sets used to be 19 inches; now it’s 32 inches. Hulking SUVs have replaced tiny sports cars as the status vehicle of the new millennium. One consumer psychologist theorizes that consuming big things is reassuring: “Large things compensate for our vulnerability,” she says. “It gives us insulation. The feeling that we’re less likely to die.” What’s up with our fascination with bigness? Is this a uniquely American preference? Do you believe that “bigger’s better?” Is this a sound marketing strategy? NO. 2 Some die-hard fans were not pleased when the Rolling Stones sold the tune “Start Me Up” for about $4 million to Microsoft, which wanted the classic song to promote its windows 95 launch.
