The aerospace sector is a key part of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan that aims to achieve economic diversification by creating a high-tech, knowledge driven economy with numerous jobs for the current and future workforce of the United Arab Emirates.

Edward Deming is one of the founding fathers of quality philosophy. Along with Juran, Cosby, Feigenbaum, Ishikawa, and Taguchi Deming help shaped the way businesses look at and think about quality. While Deming did not use the term Total Quality Management (TQM) in his book he is generally credited with founding the TQM movement and most of the modern TQM principles are contained in Out of the Crisis (Cohen, para. 3). Thirty years after being originally published in Out of the Crisis Deming's 14-points are still guiding and driving quality efforts in America. Deming first laid out his 14 points in Out of the Crisis (p. 23-24). Since then they have become a standard for quality professionals. ...Determination of Boiling Points and Melting Points of Organic Compounds During this laboratory session, we will practice determining the boiling point of a liquid organic compound and the melting point (or we could call it the freezing point) of a solid organic compound. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which the pressure of the vapor above a liquid equals the existing pressure. As we heat a liquid, the pressure of the vapor above the liquid slowly increases. When this pressure equals the pressure existing in the container, the liquid begins to boil– the liquid turns to vapor. If not contained, the vapor will “escape” into the atmosphere. In other words, the liquid evaporates. If the vapor is contained, and then passed through an area where the temperature is lower, the vapor will “condense” and enter the liquid state again. This would be a distillation. Atmospheric pressure is approximately 760 mm Hg; i.e., the weight of a column of mercury measuring 1 mm2 and 760 mm tall. This equates to about 29.7 inches of mercury. If we reduce the pressure above the sample that we are heating, we can reduce the boiling point of the liquid. This is referred to as a vacuum distillation or carrying out a distillation in vacuo. ...Deming's 14 Management Principles It is easy to see how Deming’s system would work on just about any industry out there in the competitive world of business. It is a lot easier to think which of the fourteen management principles that Deming recommends would work rather than those that might not work. All the management principles make a lot of sense and together become an outstanding tool for any business to become successful. It is very hard to see where one or some of the fourteen management principles and I came up with two of them that I found a little questionable, as far as working in all situations and in all types of businesses. I disagree partially with Deming’s principle #11 (Eliminate Arbitrary Quotas.) It would probably not work very well in a low-pay environment where quality standards are not very high. For example getting a Little Caesars employee motivated about the quality of their pizzas would be extremely hard—Little Caesars employees know that their customers are looking for an inexpensive pizza and are not going to demand a high quality pizza; instead, management depends on that employee to perform pre-set duties and crank out as many pizzas as possible for as little pay as possible. And that would tie to Deming’s principle #13 (Encourage lifelong education) not working in that scenario as well. The Point in Point of View

...The use of point of view is what allows authors to paint a descriptive and always evolving story line through the use of words. It gives the reader the keys to unlock their imagination and let their mind run wild with possibilities. An example of two different narrative styles can be seen in Margaret Atwood’s “Death by Landscape” and Richard Ford’s “Great Falls”. Using completely opposite methods to convey their stories these authors achieve a very similar effect on the reader. These methods include: foreshadowing, mystery, and highlighting the protagonist characteristics’. Both stories leave the reader with a feeling of empathy and a burning desire to know the truth. “Death by Landscape” is a handcrafted masterpiece written in third-person, about a young girl named Lois. Atwood however, takes it one step further in that of limited omniscience. By doing this, both the reader and Lois have the same feelings and reactions to Lucy’s disappearance. She “stepped sideways, and disappeared from time.” (Atwood, 35) The mystery and lack of closure that surrounds Lois also surrounds the reader. The same can be said for Ford’s “Great Falls”, who portrays the narrator as a young boy named Jackie. Ford does something unique by using Jackie as a distant narrator. He doesn’t want to know what is going on despite knowing something is wrong. “I have never known the answer to these questions, have never asked anyone their answers.” (Ford, 575) Although they use different styles of......

...President Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points I. Open covenants of peace, openly arrived at, after which there shall be no private international understandings of any kind but diplomacy shall proceed always frankly and in the public view. ...Deming's 14 points W Edwards Deming was an American statistician who was credited with the rise of Japan as a manufacturing nation, and with the invention of Total Quality Management (TQM). Deming went to Japan just after the War to help set up a census of the Japanese population. While he was there, he taught 'statistical process control' to Japanese engineers - a set of techniques which allowed them to manufacture high-quality goods without expensive machinery. In 1960 he was awarded a medal by the Japanese Emperor for his services to that country's industry. Deming returned to the US and spent some years in obscurity before the publication of his book "Out of the crisis" in 1982. In this book, Deming set out 14 points which, if applied to US manufacturing industry, would he believed, save the US from industrial doom at the hands of the Japanese. Although Deming does not use the term Total Quality Management in his book, it is credited with launching the movement. Most of the central ideas of TQM are contained in "Out of the crisis". Edwards Deming became an internationally renowned consultant and statistician in the business world. He provided several contributions to management, but his most well known contribution is his work in the Japanese industry (vii). The quality and productivity of creating goods and services in Japan was revolutionized during this time (vii). Through his work experience, he created new principles of management that would have a lasting effect on academics and provide guidance for managers running a business or industry.
