Topic: Death Penalty
Organizational Pattern: Problem-Solution
Specific Purpose: To persuade you’ll that the death penalty should be abolished.
Primary Audience Outcome: I want you’ll to become willing to contact their local lawmakers to make the necessary change to eliminate the death penalty as form of capital punishment.
Introduction
(Attention Getter) After committing a capital crime which is defined as a crime such as first-degree murder or rape of a child, a large percentage of people are sentenced to capital punishment. The end result is absolute death! But what if you were actually innocent of the crime? This unsettling tombstone could be on the grave as a result of the death penalty!
(Thesis Statement) There has been a nationwide decline in capital punishment, but unfortunately potentially innocent people are still often executed.
(Preview of the main points) This afternoon, I will first share with you some of the injustices that are occurring in the American legal system. Then I will explore with you reasons why we should consider adopting life without the parole as the only form of punishment for capital crimes.
Body
The death penalty has more victims than just the person who was convicted of the crime. A. Wrongly convicted people are often exonerate, but more than not executed. 1. The cognitive stage of learning is where physical movement is slow, having to learn the skill visually and receiving a lot of feedback from the teacher. ...Euthanasia Originally, the term "physician assisted suicide" meant the provision by a physician of the means of which a suffering, terminally ill patient could initiate his or her death. The "euthanasia" means the killing of a terminally ill person to end his or her suffering. The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is the punishment of execution, administered to someone convicted of a capital crime; it is the most severe form of corporal punishment. The death penalty in the United States has been an ongoing debate throughout history. Capital punishment has been banned in many countries, except in the United States; there are thirty-three states that currently have the death penalty. According to ProCon.org, the United States has executed 1057 people from 1997 through 2006. There are some that are against the death penalty, they feel that it is unconstitutional and immoral. Then, there are others that have a different feeling towards the death penalty; they feel that the ones that commit serious capital crimes should be punished with their own life. Those that support capital punishment say that it is deterrence and that it wastes money on the ones that are doing life. ...good when you’re around that special person? Now the only time you will see them is in pictures and your mind, what feelings do you have for the person who killed your loved one. You really want that criminal dead right? Why not? The person who took the life of your loved one who causes death deserves the same penalty. Why should we support these criminals? ...The root of the philosophical debate on abortion stems from our society’s inability to define death. Without a concrete definition of death, there is no definition of life, therefore there is no way to determine the rights that should be given to a fetus. Due to the nature of the definitions of life and death being considered reciprocals of each other, when one lacks a factor “X”, they are considered dead, conversely, when one obtains factor “X”, they are considered to be alive. In “A Father’s Story” the main character in the story is the father who ignores his religious belief in order to protect his daughter from the consequences of killing a man with her car. However, in the poem “Because I could not stop for Death,” the author displays how the main character accepted death as a friend and a part of life until the end. The short story discuss the character’s life before it yields into the talk of death; however, the poem talks of death right at the beginning of the poem. ...The topic of death first caught my attention as I am interested in what death means beyond bodily death and how the norms of death are changing because of the internet era. Particularly the way people react to death, the sociology of death and how these have changed the individuals or society in the internet age. In the paper by Walter et al.
