Q.1 – Briefly describe the dilemma presented in this case study. Who are the key players and what are some of the antecedents that have led to the present problem? Ans. When the best manager, takes certain actions which go against the core values of the company, it becomes really difficult for the management to make a fair judgement. They are stuck in a dilemma of what would be a better judgement. As a leader, it is very important to be fair and impartial to your team members. And so is the dilemma presented in the case, Bob’s Meltdown, Nicholas G. Carr. The key players in this case are1. Annette Innella 2. Robert Dunn 3. Jay Nguyen Annette Innella is the Vice President, Knowledge Management at Concord Machines. She was recently hired by the CEO of the company, as he believed that there was a need of fresh thinking in the company. She joined the company six months ago and was not satisfied by the old style organisational culture, wherein there was no cross-unit interaction. She planned on initiating a knowledge management committee consisting of the best candidates from each unit. Robert Dunn also known as Bob Dunn is the Senior Vice President and General Manager, Services, Concord Machines. He has been working in the company for a long time, and is one of the important pillars of the company. He is well respected and holds a good reputation amongst his colleagues. But one morning he was found screaming and yelling at Annette in the cafeteria, scorning her publically. The reason being, he did not like her idea of the ‘knowledge protocol group’, and thought that she did not know anything about the business.
