Summary
American Iron Inc. is a manufacturing company. Our company’s objective is to manufacture, using existing foundry practices, grey and ductile cast iron components for public works and highway use, based in the North East United States. The construction industry is finally looking at an upturn in its fortunes after the disastrous effects of the global financial crisis. Because of this upturn in the economy, the construction industry is bouncing back. The North East United States needs substantial infrastructure upgradation and improvements (C. Campbell, Campbell Foundries, personal communication 9-24-2014). Foundries in the United States slowly closed down during the financial crisis. There used to be plenty of foundries all over the United States that used to make cast iron manhole covers and grates. Now there are only 4 in all of the USA. None of these are in the north east selling to possibly the biggest growing market in the country. The New York, Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Baltimore area is the most populous area in the country and growing every year. This growth will need to be met. More houses, developments, road, bridges are all going to be built. This is where our company comes into play. We will supply the…...

Beyond Benchmarks

...Beyond Benchmarks: Estimate Your Application Maintenance Costs Using Internal Data by Phil Murphy EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Applications professionals struggle to explain the cost of their applications' ongoing operations and maintenance to their business counterparts, who commonly perceive the costs as excessive. The business perceives these costs as excessive in part because of the way applications professionals deliver the information — as a large and indecipherable lump-sum budget item. Applications professionals who want to avoid blind mandates to cut costs by "X" percent must break out application costs in a way that business people can analyze and digest. When they do, they give the business an opportunity to make smart, surgical reductions to costs and shift underutilized resources to the work that is most important to the organization, increasing overall agility and innovation while reducing wasteful spending habits. IN SEARCH OF "INDUSTRY STANDARD" BENCHMARK COMPARISON FIGURES When business and IT executives push back on the costs of applications, they raise a common set of questions such as, "Are we spending too much?"; "What do other companies spend for the same services?"; and "How do we measure up against 'industry standard' measures and benchmarks?" The erroneous assumption is that "industry standards" exist for virtually every category of IT spending. The term "industry standard" implies that an industry such as manufacturing or insurance agrees to use a......

3 Benchmarks

...1) Financial ratios are of little use without benchmarks to compare them against. Benchmarks are guidelines or general rules of thumb related to a specific industry or business segment. In order for financial operational performance measures to have evaluative meaning, the user must have some reference (comparison) benchmarks against which to compare the actual outcome. As benchmarking and ratio analysis continue to grow in popularity, the availability of such data will also improve. Various public and private organizations collect and analyze financial data on the industry as a whole and on specific sectors. Often this information is available to the general public. Three key financial ratio benchmarks are industry average, historical trend, and budget. A historical performance benchmark is financial data compared to a certain time period with another. The industry average benchmark compares specific firm’s ratios to industry averages which are normally available through a wide variety of industry specific trade journals and associations. This is a good benchmark to see how a firm would be comparing to industry norms. However, as firms diversify operations it can hinder the ability of an analyst to get accurate comparables. Finally, the budget benchmark which is only available to key managerial staff creates the most valid data in any real level or detail. A flexible budget provides the ability for the analyst to get a better understanding of how actual......

...Hitman: Absolution benchmark feature ------------------------------------ Hitman: Absolution contains a performance benchmark feature that you can use to test the game's performance on your system. It will either use the current display and graphics settings or read specific values from an INI file depending on the way you initiate the test. The file benchmarkresults.txt is written to the gamefolder when the test is completed. It contains the benchmark results and the used display and graphics settings. To get an accurate test of the performance, the game will always go to exclusive fullscreen mode and disable VSync. There are three ways to start a benchmark test: 1) From the main menu: Start the game and proceed to the main menu. Select the Options menu. When you are done tweaking your Display and Graphics settings, select START BENCHMARK at the bottom of the options menu. Once the benchmark is completed you will be prompted with the results and be returned to the main menu. 2) From the Options dialog: When you start the game you are prompted with the launcher menu. ...Benchmark Assignment Interpersonal Communication You wouldn’t think it, but as individuals, communication is the most complex activity that we can perform. When you think about it, communication is really a skill that we acquire and develop over time. Some individuals over time become proficient in communication, while others may not fare so well we have to remember that interpersonal communication is a part of knowing our self, our perception of others, how we handles our emotions, and remembering that our gender and culture play a part of how we communicate. Interpersonal communication is necessary in maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships with the individuals we communicate with, especially the ones we care about the most. The way we speak, act in conversations, and convey our messages to the people we surround ourselves with plays great deal on how who we are has a person. When you are using interpersonal communication you are using a dynamic form of communication in which you are exchanging messages and information that can influence thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships between one another. We communicate in many different ways such as emails, telephone calls, text, or by letters and we have to remember how our tone might come across. For myself, I ......

...Teaching for Exceptionalities Benchmark Jettie McGraw SPE 226 February 24th, 2015 Abstract Special education teachers are required to accommodate their student’s special need by maintain and adapting lesson plans to meet their individual need and ability. Adapting the lesson plan to their specific need and ability requires observations, meetings and lots of patience. This essay details my experience within a special education classroom, it includes observations and a detailed accommodated lesson plan. This experience provided me with insight on the daily life of a special education teacher, and prepares me for a future career in teaching. Teaching for Exceptionalities Benchmark Students with special needs require adapted teaching methods that vary from those of their peers. These adapted methods stem from detailed observations, that are then included in an adapted lesson plan that is specific to that child’s need. Each adapted lesson plan has a goal, both short term and long term. These goals are then further extended in the form of evaluations and even more observations that are essential in determining a child’s ability in a core area, which then aides the teacher in creating a lesson plan suitable for this child and their need. It is essential that a special education teacher actively observes her students, evaluates what they have learned, and adapts the lesson plan to their need, to create a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate and......

Benchmark - Gospel Essentials

...Benchmark – Gospel Essentials Amanda Flaherty CWV-101 Christian Worldviews June 11th, 2016 Instructor Eric Hernando Benchmark – Gospel Essentials When it comes to God and what all his creations stand for and mean to him is a difficult subject for a lot of people to talk about. How every perceives God, Humanity, Jesus, Restoration, Analysis, Reflection are different in many ways. Christian’s view them in a completely different worldview than say someone who does not believe in them. All people have their own views as well as how they see things from right and wrong. According to the Christian worldview, this is how God, Humanity, Jesus, Restoration, Analysis, and Reflection will be examined and explained. There are many ways to explain what God is and what he is like. Many cultures including the Christians see God as being in control of all. When you look at Christianity through the eyes of a Christian and then look through the eyes of a non-believer, you will come up with a completely different view of God. However, in the eyes of a Christian, when something goes wrong in their life they tend to ask the question, “why has this happened to me, where is God at when I need him the most?” (Garvey, 2000)These types of questions show that God cannot be everywhere all the time. Within all the religions that are considered Christian, God has many different characteristics. According to John Garvey (2000), one of the characteristics of God is that he is supposed to make......
