Article Rebuttal
Work policies or rules are good tools to run a business. At spouse’s workplace, there are two policies or systems that could not agree with. First work policy is with regard to “One mistake and you’re fired.” It is always been observe at work, and this intimidates the workers, especially the Flex, and Part time employees. I do understand of the importance of this kind of policy because this requires a very intense training, patience, and much of common sense, especially in the well-being of the children. Sometimes this policy is not the answer to fix the problem. Because of just a simple mistake, employees are laid off from work.
When new employee or someone becomes a “Ratio worker” he or she has to go background check, physical test, and enormous amount of training. In approximately two months, he or she can work with less supervision and considered as a ratio worker. With single mistake, a worker is sent home with no reassurance to return for work or he or she is fired. This I consider an inconsiderate or not reasonable to fire an employee just because of one mistake. The mistake should be weigh according to a degree of seriousness. No guideline or what basis why someone is fired just of a mistake. Everybody makes mistakes because no one is perfect. If the mistake posed a very serious offense it is understandable, but the mistake should serve as the reason for learning to solve the problem in case it arise again. The employee should have been given the chance to correct the mistake so it will not happen again, thus saving the employer many man hours of training and dollars for background checks.
Another policy or employment system that I could not agree with is the background check for the new applicant. Because the background check takes a long process and sometimes months to complete,…...

...Article Rebuttal Calvin Smith BCOM275 OCTOBER 10, 2012 Elia Par This is a rebuttal to an article written by Charles Stimson on September 13, 2010 titled Legalizing Marijuana: Why Citizens Should Just Say No. In this article Stimson gives a long and verbose explanation as to why marijuana should not be legalized or decriminalized. He asserts that the overwhelming negative effects far out weigh any benefits. Although Stimson makes numerous claims in an attempt to support his argument, this rebuttal will focus on two. Stimson claims marijuana has no healthful benefits. There are some negative side effects from using marijuana, but to assert that it has no healthful benefits is a completely false assertion. Drug Sociologist Lynn Zimmer and Narcotics researcher John P. Morgan found this also to be false. Their research uncovered significant benefits to marijuana use. They found for glaucoma sufferers, marijuana reduced the pressure in the patient’s eyes. This pressure caused loss of vision that was irreversible. The study of marijuana in AIDS patients has overwhelming conclusive evidence of its healthful benefits. Marijuana reduces nausea and increases appetite. This makes it easier for patients experiencing severe loss of appetite to have a desire to eat. A study revealed that 50 percent of oncologist recommended marijuana to their patients. Stimson’s argument to the contrary lacks validity. He provides no data to support his claim. He attempts to prove his claim by...

...Pro Death Penalty Arguement BCM/275 Pro Death Penalty Arguement In the case against the death penalty by the American Civil Liberties Unions I wholeheartedly disagree with their judgment. “The American Civil Liberties Union believes the death penalty inherently violates the constitutional ban against cruel and unusual punishment and the guarantees of due process of law and of equal protection under the law. Furthermore, we believe that the state should not give itself the right to kill human beings – especially when it kills with premeditation and ceremony, in the name of the law or in the name of its people, or when it does so in an arbitrary and discriminatory fashion.”(ACLU.org). How can anyone in their right mind support this fact. When someone breaks the law they pay for it in a system of checks and balances. The United Stated judicial system is perfect its far from being perfect but it is in place to make sure rights of persons are treated fair and equally. All states and the federal government need to have a mindset that if a person’s life in taken by a criminal act then the bearer of the crime should pay the ultimate price. For me I do not see the death penalty as a waste of taxpayer money but as a deterrent to the next generation that if you commit such heinous acts you pay the price. What is wasting the taxpayer money is the process of appeals due to our outdated justice system. How much does it cost for a bullet? How much for a lethal injection? How much......

Bcom275 Week #3 Individual Assignment - Article Rebuttal

...Article Rebuttal BCOM275 October 1st, 2012 Kai Hintze Article Rebuttal When thinking of a controversial matter which happened recently in America what first comes to mind is maybe not the most important thing to be worried about right now; however it is what entertains many Americans and that is football. Most articles found about the last game that replacement referees officiated are very controversial as the only people that really know what happened that night are the refs and the players which were on the field. There is no way to find credible information including watching a replay numerous times. The article states numerous times that the call which was called a touchdown should not have been called that and it is hard to side with either way do to the facts surrounding the situation. Unfortunately many individuals believe that these refs were not properly trained and are blaming it on the refs themselves for taking the job or the short training they may have received. But fans, particular those in Wisconsin, said the 52-year-old southern California banker with no previous professional or major college refereeing experience should have never left his desk to become a replacement during the NFL’s lockout of unionized refs  (Walder & Hutchinson, 2012). I can agree that one certain ref took this job with only three days of training preparing him for Division I college football; however it could be a disagreement that due to that short of time he was not...

...Rebuttal to Howling for Justice student BCOM275 May 8, 2013 W. Pearl Maxwell, PhD Direct correspondence to (student), Student at University of Phoenix Abstract The article “Howling for Justice” was written at an inflammatory level. The writer uses unstated premises and conclusions to build his case. He is leading the readers toward the preferred point of view, Wolves should not be killed. The writer is very adamant about Wolves and the hunting and killing of the wolf. The writer is very literate and draws the reader into the article with a heartfelt dissertation on Senator Eugene McCarthy leading immediately into an attack on the delisting of the Wolf from the Endangered Species act. The author has written the article based on his emotional opinion and does not use statistics to bolster his position. He lists items on the Montana Legislative agenda designed to find new ways to kill animals but he does not list any bills. The author made one statement to the effect of “For me it is so magical, such a spiritual experience.” He was referring to the sight of a wild animal. Rebuttal Howling for Justice The author of this article could have made his impact greater if he had used statistics to bolster his opinion. He offers no supporting statistics, no bill numbers and no legal references to support his position against delisting wolves from the Endangered Species Act. The author speaks from a purely emotional point of view where he attacks the legislative......

The article's main idea is regarding illegal aliens in the workplace along with illegal aliens not paying taxes. The rebuttal will consist on ideas on how the topic is not accurate in its findings. The author of the article will be analyzing to find reliability, credibility, and validity. Fallacies in the article will be discussed as well. The article talks about how illegal aliens are unskilled workers who get paid off the books for laborer. Thus creating a larger community of people receiving benefits from the state without paying taxes (Louise, 2011). First off let’s analyze the first topic of unskilled illegal aliens. The article mentioned that all illegal aliens are unskilled (Louise, 2011). Many illegal aliens receive education and experience from his or her country on a skilled trade. ...Career Plan Reflection Paper Alexis Phan BCOM/275 February 5, 2014 Rodney Thirion The career plan building activities actually just confirmed what I already knew about myself. I love to work with and interact with people, I love to help people, I like to deliver results and I can be resistant to change. The activities also taught me things that I didn’t know about myself. I always viewed myself as organized and I learned that I could definitely be more organized. Being organized prevents one from rushing, and one is able to deliver great results as because their work is thorough. I also learned that I value job security and how much a job having the potential for me to grow and learn new things and move up in the organization means to me. This course actually can apply to my current and future career because it taught me how to communicate with people and the importance of communication. How a message is received by the receiver can have a great impact on my patients and potential investors. It taught me that I definitely have a lot to work on when it comes to my nonverbal communication skills such as my body language, gestures, eye contact, etc. My communication skills greatly affected my chances of being re-hired at my previous place of employment after being laid off and this course made me realize that much more. I knew that communication was very important but I don’t think I realized how big an impact it could have on my life. Now when speaking to......

...ARTICLE REBUTTAL – GUN CONTROL 1 Article Rebuttal – Gun Control Xxxxxx Xxxxx BCOM 275 20 Mar 14 Ceasar I Elpidio Article Rebuttal – Gun Control For this assignment I chose an article titled “Data suggest guns do in fact kill people” (M.S., Sep 2013). The author of the article tries to use data to show a correlation between the prevalence of firearms with the amount of homicides committed by them. To support his stance he uses crime statistics from the United Kingdom compared to the United States. I believe this use of statistics from two different cultures is flawed and will attempt to show why. First of all, the UK has some of the most stringent gun laws in the world. Even the police officers there don’t all carry firearms. Firearms are usually only used by special response units. Now don’t get me wrong the UK still has crime that involves firearms but at nowhere the rate the US has. I believe part of the reason for this is the culture difference. The UK first began regulating firearm ownership in 1903 (Wikipedia, 2013). That is over 110 years of controlling the purchase of firearms. If some of the same laws were used here in the US would it take us 110 years to get to the point the UK is at now? Also, what happens to the some 270 – 310 million firearms that are already in the US (GunPolicy.org, 2014)? Literally, there are more firearms in this country than people! He also tries to make light of information given by Ben Shapiro of...

Bcom 275 Article Debate

...Article Debate BCOM/275 10/12/14 Are Steroids Bad? In this article that I have read, the author has given both the positive and the negatives on steroid use, and he even offered to voice his opinion at the end. This has been a major subject now days, particularly concerning most major professional sports. The common stereotype that he went over was that all steroids are bad and make you unhealthy beyond control. Then he goes onto say that steroids in fact are actually good for you and you have them naturally occurring in your body. There are many things that I do not agree with, one being that steroids are absolutely bad for you. It has been proven that among athletes that have used steroids, they have experienced mood swings, heart problems, and liver failure. All these things do not occur naturally but with the help of a chemical or having steroids introduced to your body. The autopsy done on a professional wrestler identified steroids as one of the factors that led to his death. It not only damaged his body physically but mentally as well, he went on to kill his family and himself. I believe that the doctor that wrote this article is very reliable and credible but he seems to be more on the pro side of steroid use. He makes excellent valid points with both the positive effects and negative effects steroid use is associated with. I’m not criticizing any of that evidence that he has provided but......

...Article Rebuttal – Against Removing Illegal Alien Amnesty Kubani L. Brown BCOM/275 12/22/2014 Charles Cattermole Article Rebuttal This country that we live in and are all apart of was built from the ground up by immigrants. There are however people and organizations out there that have forgotten this fact. They feel that this country does not need any more immigrants and that they are hurting our country economically. Hurting Americans Dan Stein, President of FAIR(Federation for American Immigration Reform) stated that, “There is no justification for an illegal alien amnesty, no justification for adding new guest workers at a time when so many working Americans are hurting, and there is never any justification for using our troops to pass special interest legislation.” Mr. Stein does not provide any factual data supporting his claims that illegal alien amnesty is and will hurt working Americans. It is a well-known fact that politicians will attach other measures into bills that do not have anything to do with the main part of the bill. This practice happens all the time and will always happen. The majority of illegal aliens that come to our country just want the chance to provide and take care of their families. Most are not criminals but are hardworking people. They work the jobs that most Americans will not work. Providing them amnesty will allow them to stop living in the shadows and be able to have the same rights that most......

Bcom 275 Article Rebuttal

...Article Rebuttal Christine MacRae BCOM 275 February 23, 2015 Lloyd Krieger Article Rebuttal According to an article found on the Natural News website, vaccines are one of the primary contributing factors related to increased rates of autism. (Adams, 2014) The article goes on to provide supporting quotes from various authors on the subject. Of those supporting quotes, some claim that a preservative called thimerosal found in vaccines, such as the flu shot, is the culprit. Another author’s method of persuasion was rhetoric in their comparison of the ‘dangerous’ vaccines to faulty tires. Despite the many claims that vaccines are to blame and the growing hysteria in parents against vaccines, there has been no hard evidence supplied to support these claims. The frenzy surrounding vaccinations began when Dr. Andrew Wakefield wrote a counterfeit research paper claiming that there was a link between the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccines and autism. The doctor has since been discredited as he was paid over $700,000 by an interested party, to falsify his research and findings in a related lawsuit against the vaccine’s manufacturer. (Salahi, ABC News, 2011) However, even after Dr. Wakefield’s claim has been proven to be false and lack any supporting evidence, there are still those who cannot be convinced otherwise. Years later, there is still a substantial following of parents who believe that vaccines stand to do more harm than good in regards to their children’s......

Bcom 275 Week 3 Article Rebuttal

...Article Rebuttal Kao Saechao BCOM/275 February 9th, 2015 Dr. Sharla Walker Article Rebuttal Vaccination in children has been a touchy topic for today’s society. Do I vaccinate my child and risk life-changing diseases or do I not vaccinate my child and run the risk of other children catching diseases? On one hand, there are parents who decide not to vaccinate their children for the fear of long-term diseases such as Autism and other contaminates. And on another hand, there are parents who whole heartedly in vaccinations for their children. In an article, by S. Edmonson, the author believes that all vaccines are contaminated with diseases. The author believes as such referring to Dr. Maurice Hillerman; the former head of vaccines at Merck. Dr. Hillerman has stated on camera that all of their vaccines were contaminated with a virus. Should parents vaccinate their children? Yes, of course. However, the statement may not be untrue regarding if there are “vaccines contaminated with diseases”, there is still more to the story. What is a Vaccine? A vaccine, in essence, is made from a virus itself; contaminate or disease; if you will. A vaccine may be made from different forms of viruses such as: living or weakened, killed, or segments of other viruses. These different types of vaccines are no different from those we received as children. Varicella (Chicken Pox) is a vaccination most of us have received as children made from living forms of viruses. Other......

...Article Rebuttal: Taking a Stance Against Capital Punishment NAME BCOM 275 DATE INSTRUCTOR It is no human’s right to take another human’s life; Therefore, the United States should stop the use of capital punishment. My heart goes out to the victims, and victim’s families, of crimes that are currently punishable by way of the death penalty. I could understand the deep yearning for justice. The death penalty is not the answer. Currently, the only crime punishable by the death penalty is murder. However, according to the Death Penalty Information Center, or the DPIC, (2010) the state of Louisiana has administered the death penalty twice for the crime of raping a child. Some states are fighting to broaden the crimes punishable by death, but have not succeeded. After Louisiana administered the death penalty for rape, the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional because the degree of punishment exceeded the degree of the crime (DPIC, 2010). Some may argue that it costs more to give a criminal a life sentence versus the death penalty; however, quite the opposite is true. For example, in the state of California, it costs an average of $90,000 more to put someone on death row versus placing them in a maximum security prison with no chance of parole (DPIC, 2010). Research also shows that there is no significant deterrence to committing murder because of capital punishment. According to Donohue (2010), “evidence suggests that the death penalty may increase the......
