March 31st, 2014 In Favor of Love Laura Kipnis, in her essay Against love, touches many aspects of love. It is a sensitive topic simply because love brings out many different opinions and beliefs. The author argues the fact that in order to have a good relationship and love we need to meet creating requirements like good communication, coherence and close relationship or intimacy. It is an interesting essay. What quite caught my attention is that at the beginning of the essay, the author says “Love is, as we know, a mysterious and controlling force. It has vast power over our thoughts and life decisions. It demands our loyalty, and we, in turn, freely comply. (Kipnis 734). This is the simplest way to explain what love is about. When people realize that you really love someone we do and say things you never imagine. Love is an important part of life. Life without love is like an ocean without water. Love is not something you find on the streets or stumble on. It grows on you with time. On the essay, the author, also refers about passion. “Of course, the parties involved must work at keeping passion alive ….. (Kipnis 736). Passion can be described in two words: strong and uncontrollable. We can’t control how we feel about the people, activities and ideas in our lives. Passion unfortunately is not always a good thing especially it can make a person incompetent. Everyone has a passion of their own and their pursue it in different ways. Love can and will make you feel as if you are nothing without your partner. Love is hard to explain but there is a passion that you find with someone else and if it is meant to be everything will fall in place by its own. The author also takes a look at modern relationship. Most all them (about 50 % percent ends in divorce) and the other half are not happy. This is not…...

...Does Love Justify Actions or Is It An Excuse? Love will make you do crazy things and in Hedda Gabler we seen the total effect of this action. Was she right for being manipulative or conniving because that was what she was used to? Was it alright for her to pull the strings in everyone else’s life because she wasn’t happy with hers? Does love justify these actions with a powerful claim to make you jealous, envious, and malicious to the receiver? Hedda Gabbler used the absence of love to continue to hurt people who cared about her and loved her. Hedda was a controlling kind of person who basically cared about what other people thought of her more than what she thought of herself. The fact that she was bored with her life wasn’t any better so I guess she thought she was justified in making others life’s worst. I think this was an excuse because her father never showed her love at all when he was alive. The fact that she had his picture still watching over her she was never really fully able to show her true emotions. She would never be happy because of her past and she’s paying for it in her present. I thought this is just like so many people in the world today, even though she had a father she probably couldn’t express herself like she wanted to because it would be looked down upon. That’s why she was never happy in the house she had or the husband she married it all was a part of her status. When Love Bourg came back into the picture you could tell that they had......

...True Love – in the 21st century. I was inspired by my grandparents to write an essay regarding True love. Next month, my grandparents are celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They have known each other since they were 14 years old, and I find it very remarkable. I find it astonishing how two people can keep their love for one another throughout for 50 years. It’s not every relationship that lasts for 50 years. There are so many movies, songs and poems about love. I guess it’s because it has such a big influence on our life. Considering what my grandmother told me, I asked her how they preserved their love for each other, she said. “It’s a lot about honesty, trust, respect and tradition”. It has been a lot of hard work, she said, and they succeeded. There will always be ups and downs in a relationship, but that’s the beauty of it. When 2 people are trying to solve their problems together and it hits you that this is something that you both want. That’s when you know that he / she is the one. Standing on the doorstep to my adult life, is certainly emotional. I’m surrounded by true love every single day. And it makes me think about, when is it my turn? When is it my turn to experience true love? The thing I’m trying to say is that, it would be nice to have someone to hold on, and feel out the lonely nights. I have never been in real relationship or been in love. Love in the 21st century: Back then it was till death do us part, but now it’s when our......

...forms of love. Some are powerful and demand attention while others are more subtle and just below the surface. In recent years, love has drifted from these subtle levels to the more noticeable ones, namely passion. In my opinion, our society downplays the real necessity for genuine affection. By this I mean that we, as a society, spend so much time focusing on only one level of love (passion) that we tend to neglect and not recognize the need for closeness and trust (friendship). Love is an all-encompassing emotion that can be powerful and demanding, but also rewarding and pleasurable. What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies. So many legends surround this emotion, from the goddess Athena and Helen of Troy to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved. *-(* George Sand *)*- Love is the greatest gift we can ever hope to give or receive. Love is the one thing that can overcome so many of the difficult times that we are faced with in life. Love is so powerful - it can turn frowns into smiles. It can help mend the most broken heart. It can even turn all of the ugliness in the world into the most beautiful portrait we could ever have the pleasure to behold. Love comes......

...In A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, he put a twist on it. It was post to be a comedy but it’s a mix of both comedy and a love story. Love is something that’s hard to explain because love is hard to find, but when you do it’s always something that tries to get in the way of you being happy because love is a tricky thing. Some people make love seem all fun and easy to be in but when they get in love themselves, they can see the heartache and plain they got to go through. In the story Egeus had went to see Thesus, duke of Athens with a complaint against his daughter Hermia. Even though he promised she was to marry Demetrius, who was in love with her but Lysander, an Athenian youth who had won her heart. Hermia had refuse to listen to her father in marry Demetrius because she was so in love with Lsyander. Her not wanting to marry Demetrius didn’t sit well with Egeus that he demanded she be punish by law for not obeying his word. Thesus then went to her in said she will be sent to nunnery or put to death for not wanting to marry him. Lysander had then made it seem that Demetrius is not telling the truth about being in love with Hermia because he was once engaged to her friend Helena. Which was a smart thing to being that up at that time because they was talking about putting her to death for not marrying him. When Thesus, Egeus, and Demetrius had left the room. Lysander came up with a plan for them to run away together in go live with his aunt, who lives seven......

...laid my hazel eyes on. Hair as dark as a bar of chocolate, mildly-fair skin, goofy glasses, and a wonderful smile that made me feel as though my world paused for a second. I then realized I had lost my train of thought, which is not ideal for giving a speech, especially a very important one. I finished my speech, hugged my brother and his new wife, and walked over to the bridal table. I typically am not the go-to-the-guy type of girl, but I was just so intrigued by this man that I just had to go against my own rules for a change. I walked up, sat in the seat next to him and asked, “Are you Snap-Chatting?” He then looked up, and I noticed that his eyes were a beautiful green-blue. He gazed at me and then replied with a simple, “Yes.” I then of course handed him my phone and added him into my contacts. “Zach. What a nice name.” I thought to myself. The rest of that night is history. Weeks went by, and we had become inseparable. I had never known love, but I was beginning to realize that love is what we had. He would pick me up at my house, and take me to school, this was when I was still in traditional high school. That was just our thing, the rides to school, though I dreaded the destination, he made my day significantly better. We went out to eat often to our favorite restaurant, Real Hacienda, and did things like go mudding in our Jeeps. We went fishing a couple times here and there, but fall fishing in Indiana is not the best. I guess what I am trying to say is, we had a......

...peaking of Love What is love? Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him. What is Love? I know this question exists in each human being's mind including myself. If not it is still waiting to be discovered deeply in your heart. What do I think of love? For me, I believe love is a priceless diamond, because a diamond has thousands of reflections, and each reflection represents a meaning of love. With love I can accept a person's imperfections without any condition, and able to transfer the way I love myself to another person who I am fancy at. With love I can have the power against loneliness, sadness, and illness, and to be able to change them into my happiness. As well as, having a key to open my heart to look at this world without a mask, to show people who I really am. But on the other hand, my love cannot be a substitute for anything, which means nothing can be substituted for my love. It also means those reflections of the diamond cannot be replaced by any kind of light or reflection, because the untrue reflection will not be a real diamond, and will not be able to spread out its resplendent and meaningful reflection of love to people about whom...

...A Confession Of An Undying Love Knowing you is the greatest thing that happened in my entire existence. I never realized how happy and complete I am with you by my side, you don't even need to do anything. The thought of you staying by my side reassures me and gives a whole new meaning to my life. Every sound of your voice is like music to my ears, a serene lullaby that lulls me to sweet daydreams. When I gaze into your soulful eyes, I could see a brighter tomorrow. The soft whispers of your enchanting voice lift my empty spirits and calm my weary thoughts. Your beaming smile chases all my worries and uncertainties away. Your warm embrace puts me in a trance of sweet lullabies and melody. The moment that I hold your hand, I know right away that you are the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with. No words could ever express the glee that I'm experiencing right now. I couldn't even start to fathom how blessed I am to have you in this life. In any other lifetime, I'd still choose to fall in love with you. I thank God for bringing you to my life. You gave a new meaning to my existence and I could not imagine a life without you in it. You and I were made to be together, forever. Loving you was the most special thing that ever happened to me. Love Is Love

...it is against the bible, it is against the constitution. According to the National Conference of State Legislator 13 states do not recognize same-sex marriages, when the other 47 states have legalized same-sex marriages. This falls in the hands of the government, but why should they have control over any marriage? I took the time to do some research, and found that each state gives the rights to who they will allow to be recognizing under marriage. It’s on a ballet to be voted on by the people of a state. This give grounds to limiting the marriage between sibling, a first cousin, and also having more than one spouse. An article I read in US NEWS by Brian Brown, which states “The purpose of publicly recognizing marriage is to encourage men and women to form stable families to bear and raise children”. This is a good point of view from him, but why does loving someone of the same sex not give the right to raise a family and be just as happy? Some might say its discrimination; some might say it is unfair to humanity. Is it fair to take away the pursuit of happiness because a couple of the same sex wants the same as a couple of the opposite sex? Marriage brings on many new roles for couples like buying and taking care of a home, buying a vehicle, joining bank account, picking medical and life insurance. These rights of marriage are stripped from same-sex couples, not giving the equal right to be with the person they love and care for and what to build a life together with. Love......

Against

...I am against at early marriage because at very young age early marriage can destroy our lives and it gives us big responsibility and many problems. Responsibility has to be shouldered at a very young age. One has to take on household responsibilities, child rearing responsibility. There is no adult to guide or help out. Missing out on the fun of teenage life and being young. The hard of married life can get to you. They deprive you of your youth. Health also can get affected as early pregnancy can have a negative impact on overall health. Breakdown of marriage is possible. Often the young couple is immature to shoulder major responsibility and end up fighting with each other. Adjustment problems may arise. Education also gets affected. The young couple may not be able to pursue higher education as they have to take on the responsibilities of family budget. Work opportunities are limited for the youngsters. Since their education levels are low, they cannot get highly paid jobs. Bringing up children may be difficult. Their knowledge of child care may be limited and parental guidance is also not there. They may not be able to provide the appropriate care for their child. When your young your not yet mature, and haven't had the chance to live life, and at a young age, you haven't always finished school or secured a good job, your not financially ready and this causes many young marriages to end prematurely. At a young age, you really don't know what u want from life until your......
