As the chairman of the Finance Committees of the House and Senate, he made a significant contribution to rescue the Subprime Crises effort in United States. I have some recommendations to him for this terrible events.

In the first place, I think that the investment banks need to be combined with the commercial banks. There are several reasons why I suggest him. During the Subprime Crises from 2007 to 2009, the leverage of the investment banks were so high. The investment banks with the high leverage went to bankrupt in this events. That means the management and operation of the investment banks had some problems. This problem could be solved by regressing the investment banks back to the commercial banks. Secondly, the Federal Reserve need to take charge of the investment banks and commercial banks after they are combined. The benefit is the supervisors from Federal Reserve could better understand the high leverage investment banks’ operation and management process and protect the depositors’ profit. At the same time, if the investment banks stayed in trouble due to the volatile market, the Federal Reserve can rescue them easily. Furthermore, the reserve in the investment banks are not enough to support them to pay off the high interest rate to the investors if the uncertainty effort of the market increase like the Subprime Crises. So, commercial banks could help them with the stable money supply.

The second recommendation is Federal Reserve and government need to figure out a way to increase the transparency of capital and asset in the investment banks. The first reason why I mention this is that the chain of CDOs’ process is very complex that investors and the public couldn’t understand what exactly the CDOs are. It is very absurd because investors just want to realize the “homeownership” in despite of the risk of the CDOs. Another reason is the relationship…...

Describe an Experience When You Needed to Fill Out a Form on a Web Page. What Was the Purpose of the Form? What Would You Recommend to Improve the Form?

...Describe an experience when you needed to fill out a form on a web page. What was the purpose of the form? What would you recommend to improve the form? During the course of my life I have had to fill out many different web forms for many different sources. Over this same period I have found some frustrations while using these forms and at other times I have come across a form or two that does exactly what the form was written for. For the purpose of this assignment I will go into detail about a certain form in which I had a negative experience with. Online shopping has become very big over the last 5 years or so. Buying items that the consumer wants and needs over the Net is much more convenient than packing up the children, wasting gas, and hitting traffic to go to the store to purchase the same item. The bottle neck here though is the sign up forms to create an account in order to purchase. I had added to my shopping cart several items that I had wished to purchase. Afterwards I was to create an account in order to complete the transaction and possibly sign in at a later date and purchase more items. The form needed the common things such as name, address information, contact numbers and a user created user name and password. This is where the problems started. After completing the long form I created a user name that apparently someone else owned. The form threw an error which is okay unto it’s own. The problem though, was that none of my form data was saved and I......

What Would You Do

...What Would You Do? Scenario 1- Della the Delinquent Cat Lady As the president of the board of directors of the cat shelter, I am faced with rather or not Ms. Della should remain as part of the staff at the cat shelter. There are several problems that have been brought to my attention and I feel that now is the time to figure out exactly what should be done regarding the matter. After, evaluating the situation and giving it a great deal of consideration, I have come up several solutions to the problem. One of the easier solutions would be to just let Della go. I have considered retraining Della as manager of the cat shelter, or having a sit down with Ms. Della and asking her how she thinks she is performing as manager. Also, I think that asking Ms. Della to step down as the manager and giving her a position that she can handle. Although, these may seem like the best solution to resolve the situation, I have to look at the pros and cons of any decision that I make. If I decide to let Della go, it might benefit the company in the sense that we can find someone that is really dedicated and committed to for fulfilling their position. On the hand, Della is already going through a tough time, and firing her will not only affect her, but affect her children as well whom she is trying to provide for. Retraining Della could really help her gain a better understanding as what is expected from her as a manger, and she could gain more knowledge that may help her excel as a......

What Would You Recommend for the Alliance (Between Fiat & Tata) to Be Successful?

...management can save resources, and diversify options for growth. 5. Building a Cohesive Alliance There must be a mutual, flexible commitment on what’s appropriate, and share within each partner’s culture. An internal culture should be established so the alliance can react to changes in market demands. Strong interpersonal relationships between managers should be forged to create a friendly and cohesive environment. It is unlikely that a company will get everything it wants out of an alliance, but it can also obtain much that it did not expect. The secret is to grab opportunities for change, not ignore them, and learn as much as they from their partners. As Fiat or Tata’s number of alliances grows, a supportive internal infrastructure would aid the business to the road of success. In retrospect, successful alliances can be created through thoughtful management using the key elements in this discussion. Having an alliance with constant efforts to act, will give them a strong fighting chance to survive. Fiat & Tata’s dissolution will act as another lesson to be learnt for future alliances....

What Would You Do

...watched video clips from ABC’s show “What would you do?” one of situations in the video was a woman with OCD with a condition of germ phobia. She had dropped her groceries on the floor and could not purchase them for she felt they were “dirty”. The cashier was playing a roll of a not so very understanding person. He kept implying that they were not dirty and that the food was fine, one customer in line tried to explain to that OCD is Obsession Compulsive Disorder and that once something isn’t right they mentally cannot handle it. In the second situation there was a man in a liquor store with his son purchasing alcohol for a party that his son was going to have. You could tell that the son was very uncomfortable with the whole thing and that the father was pressuring him. A bunch of people disagreed with the actions the father was taking. In the final scenario a woman was breast feeding her child that was at the age of four in a coffee shop. One of the actors was playing the role as a disgusted costumer in the coffee shop and was making a big scene asking the woman to do that elsewhere. A lot of customer didn’t seem to have an issue with the woman breast feeding her child in the open public. Critique: All the scenarios had good points to them, if I was the person in line at the grocery store I would have done the same thing that the woman had done while she was in line. Some people have no courtesy and are just plain rude. It would have been quite difficult for me to be......

What Od Strategies Would You Recommend to Facilitate the Major Transformation That's Needed?

...What OD strategies would you recommend to facilitate the major transformation that's needed? Further to your question on the strategies I would recommend to actively facilitate much needed transformation. I would say that prior to any recommendation of Organisation Development intervention or strategies being implemented that committed approach by key stakeholders must be sought through elements of Transformation planning, which can be defined as the process of developing a strategic plan for modification of an Organisation’s business processes through the modification of policies, procedures, and processes to move the organization from its current state to a desired state of functionality. Currently a situation exists where despite functional coordinated operations unit much independent action takes place due to individual manager’s disregard and non acknowledgement of existing channels of interoperability based on their individual and viewpoints, that ideology exists that as long as their department meets their monthly targets that the situation is acceptable. This approach causes dislocation and much reprociticy of effort across the business. In terms of Organisational Transformation as highlighted in my earlier post. I do believe we are being driven to change our strategic direction due current market dynamics and shifts. The following excerpt perhaps provides an interesting snapshot of some of the realities currently existing within the business.......

Having a Coke with You - Frank O'Hara

...“Having a Coke with You is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irún, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the birches partly because of the secrecy our smiles take on before people and statuary it is hard to believe when I’m with you that there can be anything as still as solemn as unpleasantly definitive as statuary when right in front of it in the warm New York 4 o’clock light we are drifting back and forth between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles and the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them I look at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world except possibly for the Polish Rider occasionally and anyway it’s in the Frick which thank heavens you haven’t gone to yet so we can go together the first time and the fact that you move so beautifully more or less takes care of Futurism just as at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase or at a rehearsal a single drawing of Leonardo or Michelangelo that used to wow me and what good does all the research of the Impressionists do them when they never got the right person to stand near the tree...

Would You Agree That All Human Actions Are Ultimately Motivated by Self-Interest?

...Assignment 3 – Draft Essay Would you agree that all human actions are ultimately motivated by self-interest? Provide reasons for your agreement/disagreement. Although few would use the word “selfish”, a word of negative connotation that implies actions done harm the interests of others for the benefit of the doer, to describe the whole human race, some believe all rational human actions are ultimately motivated by “self-interest”, a more neutral word that implies actions done are motivated by the doer’s desire, but may or may not cause harm to others. Others, however, argue that some acts such as altruism, or otherwise called “selfless actions”, serve as evidence that counters the view. This essay will argue that all human actions are ultimately motivated by self-interest. By examining human actions as either (1) acts for self, (2) altruistic acts that also benefit the doer or (3) altruistic acts that do not, it will argue that all of the above actions are ultimately initiated by self-interest. ["apparent fact" sounds like an oxymoron; "clear fact" is better] It is widely accepted that many human actions are done to benefit the doer. Every day, people work for food and shelter. They entertain themselves with occasional trips to theme parks or the cinema. In desperate circumstances, some may even commit theft or murder. All these are actions intended to be self-beneficial. It is not necessarily evil to be self-interested. Any rational person would be motivated......

...the street or abroad. Protecting patient’s pertinent data is becoming more and more complicated. Patients enjoy the freedom of being able to access all their pertinent medical information from all over the world. Yet, they don’t realize that many eyes are constantly watching their every move. With the freedom comes the threat of identity theft. No matter how secure a system is someone is always ahead of the game finding ways to slip through the cracks. According to Alan Paller, “there are at least 100 countries actively doing cyber-espionage (M, 2010).” In the healthcare environment you have many people accessing and using the intranet system. The IT department has the job of monitoring and blocking excess from internet sites without security clearance or certificates out of date. Unknown to the IT department is that the staff can be trying to access these sites which are not allowed. This would put the healthcare organization at risk of scripts slipping in (M, 2010). these scripts are security breaches which are used to steal patient’s personal information. Anti-virus software programs are not looking for these scripts they are looking for files. These scripts can come from social media networks which staff may be accessing. According to Dave Meilek, “most of today’s threats are blended attacks propagated on legitimate sites like Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, and many others.” (M, 2010) Attacks can come through emails which have suspicious scripts attached that help them get......

•What Kind of Internal Actions Would You Take to Prevent Future Problems?

...A patient always have a right to see their medical records, it is the law that medical records are available upon request with a small fee. The law also states in the policy that there is a limit of who has access to the records and to be released to without a written consent from the patient.   When there an amendment needs to be made the patient or who is requesting the amendment needs to write a letter. The letter needs to outline why you think it is wrong and what the correction is. The basic information needs to be put into the letter, your name and the date of service in your letter, and then staple your letter to the copy of the page that contains the error. Make sure that the correction is written exactly as you think it should be and also make sure it is easy for the provider's record person to read, so that the right corrections can be made.   Patients have the right to have restrictions on their use and disclosure at any time. The request that is made by an individual or by the PR to restrict the use or the disclosure of PHI has to be made in writing on a form that is prescribed by a DMH. Except for when an accommodation has been approved by accordance from section III.B. Then at that point a request can be made at any time. The medical records are legally owned by the physician, although it is the patient’s records. Since the records were created by the physician, then they have the rights to them. On the other hand it is the law that patients have the......

Would You Be Happier If You Were Richer

...my lecture is about to would you be happier if you were richer. Most people believe that they would be happier if they were richer, but survey evidence on subjective well-being is largely inconsistent with that belief. Subjective well-being is most commonly measured by asking people, All things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole these days? or Taken all together, would you say that you are very happy, pretty happy, or not too happy? An alternative method asks people to report their feelings in real time, which yields a measure of experienced affect or happiness.Increases in income have been found to have mainly a transitory effect on individuals_ reported life satisfaction. Moreover, the correlation between income and subjective wellbeing is weaker when a measure of experienced happiness is used instead of a global measure. More importantly, the focusing illusion may be a source of error in significant decisions that people make. Evidence for the focusing illusion comes from diverse lines of research. For example, Strack and colleagues reported an experiment in which students were asked:How happy are you with your life in general? And How many dates did you have last month? The correlation between the answers to these questions was. When they were asked in the preceding order, but the correlation rose to 0.66(zero point sixty six) when the order was reversed with another sample of students. Similar focusing effects were observed when attention was......
